  1. Hey Sandy and Linds..I am so glad you guys are up for meeting! I was thinking next Thursday, but I am totally open to any night, day. I live in the city too...let me know you thoughts...I am so excited to chat Weddings!!! Sandy I am in the same situation as you...just waiting for prices for PC, I am gearing for the Paradisus Palma Real, but it is really pricey. Hopefully we can help each other and compare prices!

On a side note, I decided to start a bit of a starfish theme for our wedding, its a glam affair / starfish / Mexican fiesta - yikes, hope it all somehow comes together.

Anyhow after much searching I finally found a site that has the starfish jewel that I want for my bouquet, its CAD 10 flat shipping for their site, the starfish is CAD 14, why dont I live in US? ha ha

Funny enough the place is in Calgary, and that got me thinking, do any of you girls plan to order from

I honestly almost thought of a getting a number of starfish just to make myself feel better about the shipping, its just so dumb
I love those, especially the palm trees....what an amazing idea!

How is next Thursday for everyone...maybe someone that has lived here longer than me...lol...can pick a place. I think it will be a blast if we all get together and talk WEDDINGS!
  3. Hey Laides,

I arrived finally this morning...I have a lot of running around to do, and am going to attemp to understand the city etc. Let me know if anyone is still up for meeting for a tea or something....I live downtown, so I can meet whenever.

  4. I am so easy going, especially since I am fresh to the city and probably won't have much on the go but a lot of spare time (which will be consumed with decorating FI's place, which is very dull right now, and planning my wedding)! I think with everyone's crazy schedules we should just pick two alternative dates and then narrow it down to the most popular choice. 17th ave sounds great...I think I was there last weekend. What about either Wednesday, June 16th or Thursday, June 17th?

    Meghan - Happy Early Birthday!!!!

Looking forward to meeting everyone and having new friends!

  5. HAHA...okay well I am game for anywhere. I am not a huge drinker, but a nice glass of wine and some appetizers always makes me happy. I am fine to meet wherever you guys want. I don't have a job yet. I might stay with my current company and work as an agent in Calgary. I am a recruiter in Toronto, so I may open up the Calgary market for my company. If that doesn't work I am on the hunt for a sales job!

  6. Oh Ladies...all these responses make me so happy. I actually am from Oakville, born and raised (for those of you that don't know that is about 20 minutes from Toronto), but for the past 4 years I have lived in downtown Toronto. I love it here so much, so Calgary is going to take some big getting use to. I am not sure if you guys ever get together to talk wedding details etc. but maybe if you are all open to it we could meet one night downtown all together. It will be fun, and I am dying to find out where the hot spots are in Cowtown!!! My first week is June 7th, so anytime after that works for me!

  7. Hi All,

I am actually moving to Calgary on June 7th and in the midst of planning my wedding for April 2011. It would be great to meet some friends on here. I was actually in Calgary for my first time over the long weekend! It is very different than Toronto, but I am hoping I can meet some friends soon to make the transition easier.

LOL Basically impossible to do here once you figure out that the "streets" always go north and south and "avenues" always go east and west. Oh and the majority of the "trails" go north to south. Trust me it wont take long....lol

You will have a ton of places to check out and make sure you check out the "canadian brides - where to shop" thread on here - tons of info in there as to where to get OOT items, dresses, etc.

Good luck and all the best!!!
It is so nice to hear for my soon to be fellow Alberta friends. I am so scared to move...I am nervous I am not going to fit in. My FI said it was snowing in Calgary the other day..in APRIL?!?! Well I guess this is the beginning of several new adventures for me...so I hope they all work out.

Snow here I come! And then my beach wedding to follow wink.gif
  9. Hi All,

My name is Natalie, and I just got engaged 3 weeks ago. I came on here to learn how to plan the best destination wedding ever. I am going to be getting married in April 2011 in Punta Cana...still picking the hotel. I really am interested in the Iberostar Grand, but there is not that much info that I have found about weddings there yet.

My finance lives in Calgary so I will be moving there June 7th, 2010. I am already head deep in my wedding planning and have even bought my dress...now I just have to narrow down my wedding spot.

    Any tips would be great.

    Natalie
