  1. Well you could look at it this way: if rain on your wedding day is good luck then a hurricane is REALLY good luck! (But seriously- I'd take your chances and go for it- but hedge your bets with trip insurance).
  2. I can't really speak for what restaurants do receptions - but I can review the few we tried in January. There are MANY fabulous restaurants on St. John. (we went for a vacation at new years) My favorite is Rumbe lines (sp?) hands down. Delicious original food and great atmosphere. The food at the Lime Inn is also spectacular. And I think they do receptions. I think remember reading that somewhere. The service was also very good there. The Banana Deck was nothing special- but has a nice patio set up that would work well for an outdoor reception. The Beach Bar -nor high tide would be good for a reception but (I think its high tide) the one right next the ferry had frozen drinks that were the best we had (lime in de coconut anyone?). Paradiso in Mongoose Junction was tasty- but overpriced and fails to effectively merge island vibe and fine dining so we felt pretty ridiculous eating there. - It is however one of the few places that is air conditioned- which is why we tried it on the one hot and breezeless night. Asolare comes up often as the best fine dining on the island, but we didn't try it b/c we couldn't walk there from our B&B. (If any of your family is looking for a nice B&B- we stayed at Garden by the Sea and were very pleased). I know we went some other places but names are escaping me and we certainly walked by many more so feel free to ask for atleast a general impression or questions about St. John in general! (we didn't try zo-zo's because there were so many options- but the place always had a wait and is very popular i think).
  3. Has anybody heard anything about a DW at Villas Hermosas? What about the Santa Theresa region in general? Our party is small but ranges from experienced adventurers to people people who have barely traveled at all?
  4. I think your event would be to large, but if you decide to go for a smaller event Victoria House is absolutely phenomenal. I was there for a family reunion and there was a small wedding while they were there. The place is picture perfect, the staff professional and its been my benchmark for tropical paradise ever since. Their off season rates are very reasonable (although certainly not cheap).
  5. Hi my name is Katie. We are thinking about a destination wedding in January or February of 2012. Right now we are still looking into feasibility, location and cost for taking 15 people to a tropical location for a few days! What I'm envisioning is a simple catholic (English) ceremony in a plain airy Caribbean church or chapel (I have this memory of the time we went to church in the BVI's when I was 10....) and an ocean front reception where we could eat, drink and it would feel like a private party. But I might trade the catholic ceremony for Costa Rica as I hear that the catholic church there isn't to keen on marrying people outside the parish there but I've really got it in my head that it would be the most amazing honeymoon location.
