  1. Congrats on your almost wedding day!!! I'm also interested in any information you have. Right now I'm focusing on Photographers. Allibe only recommended Aki Demi. But I'm curious about others. Anyway, if you can email anything then that'd be great! My email address is [email protected]
  2. Aki Demi has some nice photos. I looked at some that they did at H3R. No prices listed though.
  3. I'm not Canadian, and my bank is a pretty major one here on the east coast so I have the feeling it may have something to do with either the resort or their bank. I probably should have looked through to see if anyone had the same problems I did I also forgot to mention that we made our wedding website live! We decided to go free and simple with The Knot. Welcome - The Knot: Wedding Web Page Builder
  4. Yay the charge went through! Allibe says the next step is in a couple of months to start looking at vendors. I don't want to wait though. I'm afraid everything will book up since it's such a popular month.
  5. I'm a little frustrated. The bank had problems wiring the deposit so I arranged with Allibe to pay by credit card. She emailed me back to say she would process the charge....but since then I haven't heard a thing! I emailed her again to ask what the next step is (on Tuesday) but still haven't heard a thing!
  6. They tell you to buy the biodegradable bug spray, but on every outdoor activity we went on they had a little bottle to offer to us to use. Of course my FI thinks he his immune to bug bites and refused to put any on at all. Surprisingly he only got 1 or 2 bites.
  7. I hope Allibe doesn't get Shannan and Shannon (me) confused! She already sent me an email spelling my name with an "a" lol! But our weddings are in separate months so hopefully that will keep her straight.

We Love chef Oscar he is amazing and the entire staff including Luis and Allibe they are awesome! If any of you need any info about my provider’s I’m more than happy to help. That way I can make my 3 month research worth for more people. We all are in a budget right? I have info about: DJ Makeup and Hair Flowers (the best in Cancun) Photographer Rental in chairs, table cloth and lights Let me know if you need any of them and will send it. Good luck and relax  Avi Hi Avi! I'd be interested in your info regarding: Makeup and Hair Flowers Photographer Rental chairs, table cloth and lights Basically anything!
  9. I don't know who will be doing hair/makeup. In fact, I don't have any vendors for anything yet! Probably because Allibe was waiting for my deposit (which I sent today!!!). I'm just going by the estimate that she gave me.
  10. I think the price I was quoted for hair and makeup is ridiculous But I"m not sure how to negotiate down. I mean, $350 is a ridiculous number. It wouldn't cost nearly as much here. I'm not doing a site visit for a couple reasons. Mostly it comes down to not having the money and ability to take time off of work. But we only discovered H3R because that's where we got engaged! At a wedding convention I went to the year before for my Matron of Honor I won a free trip there! So we've seen the place and we know we like their food. That's going to have to be good enough for us.
  11. My budget breakdown looks sort of like this: $300 catering ($20 x 15ppl) $800 ceremony etc $395 flowers (bride bouquet @ 100 two bridesmaids @50, centerpieces and altar flowers) $900 photography (maybe? I don't know yet) $350 hair and makeup (just for me) $250 music (we're doing iPod speakers) $200 cake (not definite. this is a guess based on what Allibe said) $4848 2 night stay for 12 people $2900 for me and FI including possible airfare I don't know about chair sashes yet, but that's the only other thing I would add in. Our trick to keeping cost down is limiting the number of people (we didn't want a big wedding) and by keeping it simple. There's nothing I have my heart set on other than being married by the beach.
  12. I think all of our prices will vary because there is no set of things you choose from. You could call it kind of a la cart. For me, the ceremony is $800 (or $850. I can't remember off the top of my head). Then it's $20 a person for the reception. Since we are having less than 20 people, the cost for our reception will be less than some of the other couples. I don't know my prices for anything else like flowers yet. I sent Allibe a picture of what I want for my bouquet, my bridesmaids, and centerpieces. I haven't gotten a quote yet. The other thing we are do is having an iPod speaker instead of hiring a DJ or musicians. I mean, we don't need to hire someone for such a small group. I am interested in chair decorations, but Allibe never got back to me on that. She's just really focused on getting my deposit right now
  13. I think my rates are $185 too (for May). It came to $370 per room basically. And yes, that is all inclusive. It says so on the contract so that makes me feel better!
  14. Those are the same concessions we're getting as well! My FI and I are vegetarians so we'll have to be creative in coming up with what we want for our meal. Now I know some of the good meat meals they offer so I feel better about choosing for everyone else.
  15. It looks just as awesome as I remember it to be! So what food selections did you ultimately choose? Allibe emailed me the contract the other day. I haven't read through it all yet as we are moving this weekend. But I'm super excited to get it booked!
  16. How were the dishes with meat in them? My FI and I are vegetarians so we can create our own meals, but if I have to choose for everyone else I want to make sure I pick something good! What did you select? Also, I wondering what everyone else was quoted for hair & makeup? I think $350-$400 is ridiculous. But maybe I'm wrong?
  17. Yay! Glad you loved it. And I'm glad Allibe was so helpful. She's working on our contract right now. LOL your 60 person affair is massive compared to our 16!
  18. I think the negative reviews were by people who were bumped. I saw someone explain that there had been a human error and they were overbooked. Plus with the water not looking perfect due to a storm they had led to less than stellar reviews. I haven't gotten a quote for fire dancers, but what a cool idea!!! Let me know what you find out. My mom and I did some number figuring this weekend and I don't have much left to play around with, unfortunately. But that's ok. There will only be about 15 people there so we don't need anything big.
  19. Ok maybe I did interpret AHR a little differently than some people. Our "fancy/formal" reception will be at the resort. The party at home is just that - a party. Like Hoyt75, we don't care if people are ticked off about not coming to the DW. They'll be invited to our informal celebration party. However I do think our invitation (which won't be formal looking) will say something like "there will be plenty of food, but if you're welcome to bring a favorite summertime dish to share"
  20. Ah ha! You're the May 7th bride! Allibe told me that day wasn't available. Which is fine, we want the 21st since my sister will have graduated college by then. My email to Luis got forwarded on to Allibe. My guess is they've hired her/the company she works for to do the arranging. Maybe Luis is only dealing with brides he started to work with before. Allibe is very nice and offered to call. I just want to make sure I don't spend more money then I have to. But, I can tell you that you will probably love your site visit! The resort is amazing
  21. I sent an email to Luis. From what I hear he's not exactly prompt with replying so I'll probably have to sit tight for a while.
  22. Our goal is to keep it simple and casual. Just like a family/friends gathering. But I certainly don't want people to think poorly of us! I'm fine with catering it ourselves. I just have to convince some other interested parties
  23. Anyone doing/has done a pot luck AHR? FI and my mom think this is a great idea. Part of me likes the idea (less cost for us. not to mention less hassle) but part of me feels bad at asking people to bring something to what will essentially be our reception. And if you are doing a pot luck, where are you having it?
  24. Wow $350 is a whole heck of a lot cheaper! Do you have Luis's email? I'd really like to find out. Allibe's email is [email protected] But I think she may work for the Beverly Clark company that does wedding planning. In other, more personal news, I'm super excited! We had held off telling my mom about this plan because I thought she wouldn't really like it since the guest list will be limited. But she came around after looking at the website
