Hi Cindy,
I had the same problem. Our families are huge and everyone had different opinions. Some of them didn't know how to handle the news and some were disappointed and said they wouldn't be able to make it right off the bat, even before they looked into everything (this was back in february) now most of them already booked their hotel rooms People are shocked at first because when they hear destination wedding all they see are dollar signs. My fiance and I live in California and all our family is on the east coast. I sure as heck wasn't going to try to plan a wedding on the east coast from california and the Bahamas was a lot less expensive for us. Once I made people realized that the Bahamas was an easier and shorter trip for them than California they started to turn around. I think if you give people enough time to book a trip and save they will not regret it. but just know that there will be people that cannot make it, but that goes with wherever you would've had your wedding. Of course you want everyone that is important to you to be there on your special day, but that is simply out of your control. The next time someone questions your ideas for anything having to do with your wedding make sure you remember it's only what YOU want. no regrets good luck! and congrats!
