Hi Tracy, depending on which island you were thinking of having your wedding there are a lot of experience wedding planners. I'm getting married in Nassau, April 2011 and my wedding planner is Anne Marie from weddings in the bahamas. She literally has an answer for everything and it's SUCH a relief cause I wouldn't know where to start without a planner. I would highly suggest hiring one for piece of mind. I think new years eve in the bahamas would be SO COOL! good luck

Hi Cindy, I had the same problem. Our families are huge and everyone had different opinions. Some of them didn't know how to handle the news and some were disappointed and said they wouldn't be able to make it right off the bat, even before they looked into everything (this was back in february) now most of them already booked their hotel rooms People are shocked at first because when they hear destination wedding all they see are dollar signs. My fiance and I live in California and all our family is on the east coast. I sure as heck wasn't going to try to plan a wedding on the east coast from california and the Bahamas was a lot less expensive for us. Once I made people realized that the Bahamas was an easier and shorter trip for them than California they started to turn around. I think if you give people enough time to book a trip and save they will not regret it. but just know that there will be people that cannot make it, but that goes with wherever you would've had your wedding. Of course you want everyone that is important to you to be there on your special day, but that is simply out of your control. The next time someone questions your ideas for anything having to do with your wedding make sure you remember it's only what YOU want. no regrets good luck! and congrats!

Hi! I see that you had your wedding at the Poop Deck Sandyport...I'm looking to have my wedding there next year, but I'm in desperate need of photos. When the wedding coordinator took us it was closed and I couldn't get a good grasp on how the patio would look when it is all decorated. Do you have photos from your wedding that you would be able to share? It would be sooo awesome. Thank you! how was the bahamian wedding? Any advice? I live in Los Angeles, although most of my family will be coming in from Boston and New York. Any cool activities you and your guests did? I'm trying to think of fun ideas aside from the beach, etc...THANKS!!!

My name is shannon and I'm getting married in the Bahamas on April 30, 2011. Has anyone had their reception at the Poop Deck Sandyport? I am in desperate need of pictures in which the Poop Deck is decorated. I went in March but it wasn't open, so I wasn't able to get a good visual as to how the night would look. If anyone has photos from their wedding I would love to see how they dressed up the patio! thank you, thank you, thank you!
