  1. Thanks for the pictures Chong!! Nice centerpieces!! They were similar to what I had in mind. Did you use the regular votive holders? In your first picture the holders looked deeper but in your second picture they looked just like any regular votive holders.

I am not sure what's like in Mexico in May but it was pretty windy for us on the beach in October. We thought we had a good clearance from the tip of the wick to the rim of the holder but every one of them went out sometime during the night. I think it's really depends on the weather. I posted some pictures of our reception tables.

Thanks murmel for the info!! I like the idea of adding extra height to the holder but I am not sure if paper is ideal since it could catch fire? I am also not very crafty so it might not look as nice =( I might try lantern style candle holders but I wonder how much they go for. I need about 50 of them! And I live in Toronto Canada so I am not sure if there is a Michael's in the city...

Wrap around the glass votive holder and use double sided tape to secure. This would add extra height, so that the wind may not affect it, and you can also use the colors for your wedding. You could also look for small latern style candle holders ( I know I have seen them at Michaels' craft store, they hold a tealight, not a votive) Or buy the battery operated tealights, they can't blow out!

    Good luck.

It's a hard choice. They are both beautiful for their own reasons. We personally are doing the beach wedding.

  2. Quick question for those who got married on the beach or is planning on doing a beach reception...I am thinking of doing a simple rose bouquet in a vase with votive candles around it as centerpieces. However, it can get really windy in the evenings so I think if I get a deeper holder then I should be fine. Right now I am looking at a holder with the height 3 1/4" (from where the candle sits flush at the bottom to the rim) and the candle is 1 3/4" high from the bottom to the top of the wick. So there is about 1 1/2" clearance from the tip of the wick to the rim of the holder. Do you think this is enough of a clearance?

    Thank you in advance!

  3. Do you mind sending me the link to AmEx? I googled it and American Express came up on most of the searches...

Go with AmEx.  That's who all ours guests used and they had great experiences.

  4. Welcome back Chong!! Can't wait to hear all about it and see your wedding pictures!!

I agree! It's such a great idea!! We are getting married on the sky deck and our reception will be at the beach. I am still not sure what I am doing with the flowers..

I love the idea of adding your ceremony site!  We are getting married in the Chapel at El Dorado so I would love to find out any other brides doing the same.  Our reception dinner will be at Spoons.  Great idea and thanks for taking care of the list!  As for flowers, I am so far away for choosing for my mom and mother in law, neither of them have even picked a colour yet!  I think it would look nice if the corsage matched the partners boutineire. Well we have 5 parents coming.  My Mom + Stepdad, FI's parents and my Dad.  So I guess I will get them all flowers!

  6. I agree! Your photos are just AMAZING!!

  7. I am using Adrian Herrera from Mexico. I like his work and his price is well within our budget!! I believe some of the brides on this forum have used or will be using him for their weddings as well.

Who is everyone using for their photographer?  I want a nice photographer but my budget doesn't allow for it. :(

Are the girls getting married April 30th - May 7th bringing anyone or hiring from Mexico?  Just wondering if there was any options for sharing.

    Let me know please.

    THANKS!!

  8. I just went through all the pictures and I must say I am thrilled we picked AS!! =) Thank you sooooo much Jaime for taking those pictures! They looked amazing!!

I'm sure this is photo overload, but I figured better to share too many pics than too little!   The jpeg of each photo is pretty large, so if there are specific ones you'd like me to send you just let me know the title(s).  I can probably fit 2-3 per email.

    Enjoy!

  9. Oh boy I hope you feel better Jaime!

Anywho... I promise I'll post more pics and respond to some of the specific questions (hopefully tonight, but could be tomorrow).  Just didnt want you to think I was halfway sending things then ignoring you all :).

  10. Thank you so much for the pictures and the descriptions Jaime! I hope you enjoyed your stay at AS!

I would like to see more photos of the reception area by the beach BBQ if possible. Can you email them to me? My email address is [email protected]

    Thanks again!

All of these pictures were taken between 5-6pm to give you an idea of lighting and crowds.  I noticed the album keeps the photos small, so if there's any you'd like enlarged, let me know the title and I'll post or email it.

I have lots more, just wanted to focus on the beach for now since thats been the main topic recently.  If anyone else is interested to see anything else, just let me know.  I think we've officially photographed the whole resort :)

  11. I am having a beach reception as well and am wondering about the same thing...

There are?! I was under the impression that there is only one beach location and that's by building 3. But that was just my assumption...Yes please do take pictures of both locations! Thanks a lot Jaime!!!

I think there are 2 (maybe 3) options for beach reception.  Do you know how many guests you will have?  I can take pictures of both locations just in case.

We are having our ceremony on the sky deck and a beach reception near building 3. But I am curious to see what the other beach locations look like...
