  4. Hi Kathryn! We picked the Ultimate Package and you get what the package states on the website. It's all pretty clear in the package description so we never felt like we got surprised with any "extra hidden charges". You have to pay extra for a DJ and for the sound system. The cost of the sound system is listed on the website...I don't remember the exact charge of the top of my head. We didn't pay for our "DJ' since we had our wedding at noon and there was another wedding scheduled at 4pm. I think the other couple paid for the DJ and that our wedding coordinator may have just had him come early to do our reception. Not too sure if he was an official DJ or not, but all we had done was brink an iPod with music and our understanding was that we would get a "technician" for free that would basically just press play on the iPod, but we had a guy that was mixing songs together and taking requests. We did tip our wedding coordinator $100 during our meeting with her, which seemed like what everybody on here was doing, and we were not picky during our planning process. She told us we were very easy to work with, so I think that and the tip got us some extras. We did not pay for the flowers on the pillars of the gazebo either, those are not included in the Ultimate package, but she threw those in extra for us too. All in all, we had a perfect wedding for us. We're easy going about the whole wedding thing and cared more about having a good time than all the minute decorative details. For the Ultimate Package + cost of a few extra guests (the package covers 20 people, we had 23 total) + we also paid extra for the legal ceremony which costs extra for a blood test and paperwork + sound system rental, our wedding was under $5000 which we thought was a steal! Hope this helps...feel free to ask any other questions!
  5. hairdos11: We booked our travel online with Expedia and to book the wedding we just contacted the wedding information email listed on the Dreams Cancun website. We were then emailed back by Cecilia, who was assigned as our wedding coordinator. We picked our package via email and paid our deposit. Once we got to the resort we finalized all details and paid for the wedding at that time. We have price compared with a travel agent on previous vacations as well and we've always found a better deal online on websites such as Expedia, CheapCaribbean.com, Cheaptickets.com, etc.
  6. @cricket2168: Not sure on the cost of bridemaids bouquets...we didn't have a wedding party
  7. @cricket2168: You can pick from any bouquet that you got a picture of from your WC. You only pay that VIP price if you are putting together the wedding yourself as opposed to selecting a package. I picked my bouquet once we were at the Dreams and met with our WC...seemed like there were over 20 in the book she had, but they can also mix and match a bit too. They are pretty flexible with the bouquets...unless you want a specific flower that has a higher cost. I just told our WC that our main wedding color was orange, so I wanted a mix of orange and ivory flowers and I pointed at one flower in particular in the book. When she delivered the bouquet to me, I thought it was beautiful!
  8. Our pictures arrived yesterday! Our photographers were Tony & Alex with Juan Navarro Photograhpy. I posted some in an album under my profile on here if ya wanna check them out. We think they did an amazing job considering there was a windstorm at the time of our pictures. But that ended up working out in our favor...I really wanted some pics on the pier there but there are usually tour boats parked alongside the pier all day, but because of the high winds all tours were cancelled so no boats! Here are a few teaser pics!
  9. Photographers: Tony & Alex w/ Juan Navarro Photography
  10. If you use the photography provided in the Ultimate package I believe you will get Juan Navarro photography. We did the Ultimate Package, but our photographers were 2 of his associates that work for him. I'm guessing that your WC may have stated that it is $1200 extra if you want to guarantee that you get Juan himself. The package includes ceremony photography as well as about an hour of shots around the resort of just you and your groom afterwards. You get to choose 50 from all the shots they take to put in the album...and they take ALOT...they took over 900 during our ceremony and bride/groom shots afterwards!
  11. I wanted to add something that I forgot to post in my review...I'll go back an add this in. We had one child at our wedding and the 3 children's menu options were a burger, chicken fingers or mac 'n cheese. Our nephew wanted the mac 'n cheese, but don't order this. Go for the burger or chicken fingers instead. The mac 'n cheese was literally a huge plate of penne pasta covered with nacho cheese, the kind you get on nachos at a baseball game...not so good. Our 3 yr old nephew is not finicky so he was actually eating some of the fish and shrimp that were on his parents plates and didn't really touch the mac 'n cheese.
  12. Yes, it is pretty breezy up there. During our WC meeting, we opted out of the corsages, so she asked if we wanted aisle petals instead, but I asked her "won't they just blow away?" She looked at me and smiled and nodded "yes". As for the carpet, the red one is included, or you can pay $80 for a white one (likely to pay the cleaning fee). The carpet is pretty heavy so I don't think it will blow away. We just decided we didn't want a carpet and saved the $80 because we didn't want the red one either And as for the sound system...you definitely need it during the ceremony..unless you plan to yell. We had a small group too, only 23 of us, and there was no way our guests would've heard anything without it.
