  1. Hi, flowers:) To see Jenne's review, just go to page 84 of this forum and scroll down like halfway. Look for a post from her that says that she posted the review in the review section. It's only one sentence long and the end is a lighter color print- just click on that and it will bring you right to it =) Jenne, you looked beautiful! And I love the bright pink of your Bridesmaid's dresses! And their flower flip flops were super cute! I was just gonna have my girls wear whatever they want but I really like those! Hmmmm.....Where did you get them from?
  2. Hi, girls! Wow, I got behind for a few days bc I've been so busy with everything...and I just caught up with all the new posts! First, Tiara, thank you for all you are doing for us. I know at times we seem demanding but we are all very grateful for your help. We realize how busy you are and every bride that comes back on here after her wedding, has nothing but good things to say about you =) Congrads to you, Amy! Can't wait to hear your review! Good luck, May Bride! and to all the May brides:) Thanks Jenne for the great review! Can I have everyone's facebook name? I would love to see pics! Welcome to the newbies! Good luck planning:) I have found out that there is definitely a lot more to it than I ever thought! In the beginning I figured that the resort would do most of it- and while they can, after joing this forum, these other great brides have shared so many great ideas from deorations to gifts and now I just want to do everything myself! lol =) So I got a little over 2 months to go...so excited! My Matron of Honor told me yesterday the date of my Bachelorette party and that it's going to be in Atlantic City! Are you girls having Bachelorette parties or showers?
  3. Oh, and amy did you recently order your Bridesmaid's bags from old navy? I love them! They are adorable!
  4. Hey Amy! Your journal looks great! We actually have a lot of similar tastes for our weddings:) I love all the DIY things you did...I was also thinking of making little survival kits for my girls...I got them Coach wristlets yesterday ($30 at the outlet store!) but wanted to do something else. I might also make them Bridesmaid t-shirts. Your dress is beautiful! And, I also want to do my hair in a similar way. The bubbles are a great idea! And your shoes are great! I was planning on getting turquoise ones from David's Bridal but I am gonna definitely check out zappos, first. Oh, I was also planning on doing the mug thing! My fiance and I went to DR last year and we saw all these people with Bubba Kegs....so last summer when we went to Mexico we brought some with us and they are great! Plus, everyone knows why you are there which I love:) Where did you get yours from? I have been looking online and can only seem to find ones for companies. Thank you so much and I hope you have an amazing time!!! xo
  5. Thanks, dolfin for the info:) Definitely gonna check that out. Pink, not sure about that airline. I am from the US and flying Continental...still have to check with them but pretty sure little vases would be fine.
  6. Thanks, Pink:) The candles sound nice:) I was thinking about candles, too but I thought the same thing- that it would be too windy. I am actually looking for nice plastic vases. I don't really want to bring glass with me but if I have to I'll just wrap them up really good and carry them on. I still haven't heard anything from Yanna...hmmm, maybe I will email her. lol:) Amy, you've got 9 days to go!! I'm so0o0o excited for you!!!
  7. Hey, Pink. My centerpieces are going to look something like your first picture. Very simple- they are orange daisies and I am going to put them in a little vase with maybe some ribbon or something around them. Oh, and I am going to put little crystals in the vase, as well, just for something sparkly:) I also wanted to put up candles but I figure since we are having our reception on the beach, we probably won't be able to light them so I might get those light up ice cubes and put them in the bottom of the vases to make them glow. I want to get those cloudy looking vases so then you can't see the ice cubes. Something like that Sure beats spending like $70 on a centerpiece! lol KPEG, I think if you want to play your music, you have to hire the resort's dj so you can use their speakers. Or, bring your own. I hired DJ Mannia and wasn't sure about this, either. I want music before and after the ceremony but I want to keep the dj for as much as the reception as possible so I think we are going to hire the trio for ceremony/cocktail hour and then have the dj start off with dinner. Congrads, Jenne!! Have an amazing time! Don't let anything or anyone get in the way of YOUR day! Drink lots of champagne:) Can't wait to hear back from you =)
  8. Hi, ladies! All you April brides are getting so close! How can you stand it?! Mine is still a little less than 3 months away and everytime I think about it, I get butterflies!! lol:) Thanks, Bridget for the great review. I am having my ceremony and reception on the beach so I am not exactly sure how everything is going to look. When you were there did you see any other weddings? Like some of the other girls said, I am definitely going to set up a timeline of when I want everything to be and give it to Tiara and have someone make sure everything flows nicely. Sunandsand, I actually have decided to bring some decorations, as well. I got nice fake flower bouquets for the girls this past weekend and they are going to double as the centerpieces. I'm just going to put them in a little vase with crystals around them- just to have something on the tables:) Maybride, you mentioned you are having a sundae bar?! Thats awesome! How much extra does it cost? I love that idea! Thanks, everyone!
  9. Hi, Sunandsand=) Your decorations sound great! I love the natural colors, too. My girls are wearing turquoise dresses to match the water and hopefully they will be carrying and orange and yellow bouquets (at least I will be) to represent the sunset:) Are you mailing your centerpieces before hand or bringing them with you? They are going to look really nice on the tables...are you having yours at the SSG? We are having our reception on the beach...I am just going to go with the sand and water as my decorations, lol=)
  10. Hey, Maybride. My email address is [email protected]. Thanks for the pics=) I agree with you...I really like the gazebo but really want to get married in the sand so thats why we are doing it on the beach. My bridesmaids are wearing short dresses, too, and our ceremony is at 4....didn't even think about the sand but we will just deal with that when we get there, too, lol:) Thats great about the beach being so private for the ceremony and stuff=) Thanks for the info =) Less than 2 months for you!! yey!!
  11. Hi, girls:) Maybride, I totally agree with you- that the ocean and the beach are decoration enough for me. I like it simple and I think anything too fancy will take away from the natural beauty of the place. I am thinking about something though...a natural arch sounds good. Do you know if its made of wood? Sunandsand, I like the arch with the flowy fabric but I think it might be too fancy for me. My colors are turquoise and white. Hey Lj..thats great that there is another wedding planner!! I hope she is ready for all of our questions, lol:) Oh, and I was actually looking last night for pictures from our resort to see if there are any of a ceremony on the beach...haven't found any, yet. We actually were nervous about the privacy thing, too...but Tiara said she guarantees there will be no tourists bothering us at the reception, but hopefully that is also for the ceremony, as well. =0)
  12. Hi, guys:) SunandSand, sorry to hear about your troubles. You, me, and LizzyJane will definitely have to meet up and have a drink, like LJ said, when we are all there =) What day do you guys arrive and what day do you leave? PinkPetals, so glad everything worked out and you finally have you date confirmed!! Thanks everyone for help with the prices...if it wasn't for you girls, I think we would all be in for a surprise once we got there...lol. I agree with LJ, $350. is crazy for a wooden arch! Is anyone else doing it on the beach and having something else or nothing?
  13. Maybride, you are absolutely right...you gotta have fun with the people that are there for you...friends, family, La Romana forum girls- whoever they are!! $3 + 26%?! I sware, every day there is another thing to pay for.... LJ, we definitely will need to have a drink when we see each other! lol We will be so happy and excited that we are finally there that we will forget about all of the troubles and heartbreak and just celebrate!! And your reception in the gazebo sounds beautiful!! =0)
  14. LizzyJane, I am so sorry to hear about your family! I actually almost couldn't believe it when I read it because I am in the exact same situation. My fiance's family is great..they have been so supportive. We actually are really good friends with some of his cousins and their fiance and hubby and they are in our wedding party. I have a smaller family than him and its really just my parents, me, and my two brothers. My parents really don't like the heat or the beach and we didn't speak for 6 months last year because of how we want to get married. My older brother and I are just now starting to speak through email, after a year, and my younger brother is caught in the middle. It really is a shame that some people have to act like this when it's such a joyous occasion. We have decided that we are not going to let this bother us and that we are going to go and have a great time with those people that want to be there and that are there for us. LJ, I hope you and your fiance do the same. Its very hard but it's your wedding! Don't let anyone try to put a damper on it! Hi, hjack. You have to pay extra for the bar service on the beach? They don't provide that? Good idea about the arch and the tikki torches.
  15. I forgot something.... Congrads to the newbies!! And as for wedding gifts, I too am getting my groom a watch...I figured I want to get him something nice because it's our wedding and our 10 year anniversary:) As for my girls, I am either thinking a personalized tote bag or a coach wristlet...not sure yet. For the guests we are going to have printed insulated mugs for their drinks and picture souvenirs at the reception. Oh, and I am going to make up wedding week survival kits for the wedding party...lol...filled with aspirin and pepto and aloe and stuff:) Is anyone doing welcome bags?
  16. Hey, girls! I haven't written in a while...been super busy trying to get everything done! Wow, I really thought planning a wedding on a resort was easier than one here, but I was wrong! lol:) My dress came in last week and I am going for my first fitting this Saturday!! yey:) Is anyone else having their ceremony or reception on the Beach? We are having both (hopefully) and I just wanted to know what kind of decorations to have. The arch seems like a little much for us. Also, didn't someone say in an earlier post that if we do it on the beach that we have to have a buffet dinner? Because I asked Tiara and she said it is recommended for more than 50 guests...which we will probably only have like 20-25. Oh, Lizzyjane, Tiara emailed me back about the florists and said they are all pretty expensive because they are like half an hour from the resort...boo. I might just wait till we get there to figure that stuff out or bring fake ones for the girls to carry. Also, this is a personal question so no one feel like they have to answer it...but is anyone else having an issue with close family members not wanting to come? Thanks, guys! Oh, and congrads Bridget!! You looked beautiful!! xo
  17. Hi, everyone! Does anyone know of any good florists that are outside of the resorts? I really want bridesmaids bouquets but my place is charging a lot for them. Any recommendations would be great!! Thanks
  18. Thanks, LJ=) I emailed Tiara asking her if she knew of any outside florists, yesterday. I'll let you know when she emails me back=)
  19. Hi, guys=) I hope everyone's planning is going as smoothly as possible...=) I know I asked it earlier but is anyone using a real flower vendor from DR but outside the resort? I would love to have bridesmaids bouquets but the resort is charging $75 and I didn't really want to bring fake ones there. Thanks!
  20. Hi, lizzyjane! We are arriving, most likely, on July 4th:) So I'm sure we will see each other:) When do you leave? I am getting soo excited! Pastor Rick only does symbolic ceremonies but here is his email [email protected] He is really nice and responds very quickly. What are you, or anyone else, doing about flowers? I really want flowers for my bridesmaids but they are $75 a bouquet! Is anyone using an outside florist?
  21. Hi, Nadia! I just saw that you sent out boarding pass invites:) Thats such a cute idea! We did something similar. We had my fiance's cousin make passport invitations on photoshop and they came out so cute! And then my fiance added an extra little boarding pass inside to let them know about our website and how to RSVP:) Its such a unique idea and everyone loved them! I'm sure your guests will love your, as well! Last night I was getting a little anxious because I saw that a lot of girls on here and other forums were booking outside dj's and photographers. So I read some reviews and contactd DJ Mannia, Pastor Rick, and some photographers- and they replied within the hour! And, they are all available for my date! I am so relieved and so happy! I am also so grateful to have found this forum because I would have just gone with the resort stuff- which I am sure is good, too...but I think these extra touches will make our day even better:) So thanks everyone for the great info:)
  22. Thanks, Amy for the help:) I think I got it now. This place is great! lol:) I am gonna definitely look into that photographer you mentioned and probably an outside DJ, as well. Thanks, again:)
  23. GEM

    Newbie!

Wow, thanks everyone! You're all so sweet! Congrads and good luck to all of you, too:)
  24. Thanks, Amy! I found this forum like a month ago and finally registered:) Hey, how do you get your picture on your responses? I uploaded one but it doesn't show. Also, how do you get your countdown to appear? Thanks:) So, I actually read through all 55 pages of what everyone wrote so I have a few questions...lol:) First, congrads LaRomanaBride!! I hope your wedding was beautiful...I am sure it was:) Vonnie6...can you post the price list of flowers that Tiara sent you? Thanks, Amy for posting those great pics months ago:) And once I figure out this forum I will post my link to my wedding website which is the same layout as yours:) Sunandsand...I love your idea of picture souvenirs for all the guests! I mentioned this to my fiance and he likes the idea, too. I am getting married 5 days before you...maybe I'll see you there! My fiance and I are actually really thinking about getting married here, first to avoid all the legal stuff and just so we know that it is legal here in the US. At first I thought it would take away from the actual day but the day we get married here is just a piece of paper. We are just going to have our parents and not make a big deal about it. The day we are at the resort, and I am in my dress, and everyone is there- that will be our real wedding date. After reading everyone's posts, I am really thinking of using an outside photographer and dj. I guess I am just a little nervouse because I don't want to be scammed. Can anyone shed light on this? Pics and dancing are really important to us and our guests and thank God for this forum because this is stuff I wouldn't have thought of without it! Sorry for the long post, guys...thanks for reading and answering:)
