  1. Hi Panda it is my understanding that marriages performed outside of the US are legally binding and recognized within the US by presenting you certificate of marriage. You will be given a certificate of marriage in TC which you can then register here in the US or not. I know that here in Miami I can register mine at the County Clerk's office but not sure what the procedures are in NY. I did a bit of a search and I think that if you try contacting the Marriage Bureau at the Office of the City Clerk for New York City they may be able to answer any questions you may have. If you live outside of the five boroughs the phone number is 212-NEW-YORK. If you live within the boroughs simply dial 311. Here is a link to their website City Clerk's Office - Marriage Bureau I hope you find all the info you need. Good Luck!
  2. Thanks again Krys! I think I pretty much have it narrowed down to the two. If I do get to visit for my site in March perhaps I will make a final decision then.
  3. Thanks Krys and Bronze! That definitely all helps. I will probably want some one to come on property to do the entire wedding parties hair and make up, but for my bachelorette we were thinking of getting off property to do a little spa day. Krys is there any spa you highly recommend. I was thinkign Gansevoort or Teona but of course since you live there I welcome your suggestions over my own opinion. By the way, I was in touch with Ileana today via e-mail and I think a huge wave of excitement just became very real...I'm getting married! Lol!
  4. I hoping any of the ladies who have gotten married or plan on getting married in TC can share with Bronze and I their opinions of hair and make-up options in TC. If you already got married in TC whom did you use? Whom do you recommend? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  5. Hi Bronze, from friends that travel to TC every year and have tried a host of activities and spas, she seems to prefer the Teona Spa (Villa Renaissance & Regent Grand) and Exhale Spa at Gansevoort. She usually stays at Somerset and the spa they recommend is Regent Palms or Spa Tropique (Regent Palms is next door and Spa Tropique will come on property to work with you), but she said her fav is definitely between Teona and Exhale. I asked her to choose but she said she simply couldn't they are both great. Since I am not having a bachelorette party I have been thinking about doing a spa day with my bridesmaids at Exhale. Have you thought about heading down to do a site inspection? I am thinking of going in March. How about you? How is the planning coming along? Hope the info above helps.

You'll love the Somerset (and it's right next to the Palms spa which is really nice as well!!!) Krys Yes from what Monique tells me I will be doing my hair, makeup, etc next door at the spa at the Palms for my bog day. I can't wait!!!
  7. Bronze, I believe that once you receive your certificate in TC you then have to register it with the appropriate office in your county. Then once it has been processed by the county and county records updated to reflect your new status you may proceed to contact the different offices (social security, passport, etc) to have it changed or you can just take a copy of your documents showing that your marraige has been registered here in the US and take the notarized copy to each of those offices. My wedding planner just explained it to me. Let me ask her to e-mail me again and I will forward that to you.

Sorry I only just saw this so I know it won't be of much help now but one of the things I did is I called American Airlines when organizing my wedding and requested a discount code. It takes 5 minutes and is done over the phone where they issue you a promo code to be used by anyone booking to go to the same destination. There is no mimimum or max number of travellers needed. You don't have to be leaving from the same airport and the block is usually done for travel a few days before and finishing a few days after your travel. For example my wedding is Nov. 13th my issue code can be used for travel between Nov. 8th to Nov. 20th to TC for all of my guests. The discount is only 5% discount but hey in this day and age any little bit helps. The only airlines I found servicing TC regularly were AA, US Airways, Bahamas Air and Delta has flights but only on Mondays! I hope this helps anyone else planning their wedding.

Windsong and West Bay club are both newish resorts and are further down Grace Bay Beach. So to give you some help with deciding what might fit your group.... The Sands...no resorts on either side, nice stretch of beach, within walking distance to numerous shops, restaurants boutiques. One of the older resorts on island but just finished redoing the rooms this past year. Hemingways is a great little restaurant and you can have dinner on the beach. Ocean Club...you have 2 resorts to choose from, ocean club and ocean club west. Ocean Club is across from the golf course and has Club Med on one side and the Tuscany on the other (after the Tuscany it is nothing). Ocean Club West is in between Seven Stars/and grace Bay Club and withing walking distance to many shops, restaurants and the new grace bay gourmet grocery store. Ocean club usually offers a dining plan to allow you to pay for some meals which is a nice option. Ocean Club West is the newer of the two resorts. Royal West Indies...walking distance to a number of restaurants, further walk to shops. Great restaurant on site. Right next to club med. They do have nice deals going on right now and a beautiful gardens for photo opportunities (loads of flowers etc) Grace Bay Club is a step higher in price and amenities. Centrally located for walking. Lovely restaurant on the Beach and some stunning pools, a great bar etc. If you go with GBC your guests also could stay at the Villa del Mar across the small access road...brand new, less costly and a short walk to the same beach you use. It's a nice option for a bride and groom who want to splurge but have a lesser cost option next door for guests. That has been a great option for many brides and grooms. West Bay Club and Windsong are located further down the beach nearer to Turtle Cove. Both are new and located right near one of the few snorkeling areas you can access from the beach. If you stay there, you will need a car or taxi to do shopping and/or restaurants other than the resort options. You cannot walk to other restaurants or shopping from there (well you could but it would be a LONG walk) You can check out our blogs (listed below) and do a search for the various resorts to see the locations. We have a new website and blog so check our old one as well for past wedding before june of 2009. Hope that helps you out, let me know if you have any other questions (I've lived here for 15 years, and with an island that is only 22 miles long, you get to know everywhere pretty well LOL) Krys We are doing our wedding at The Somerset, haven't been there but I have friends who have and love it so much they return yearly. I don't visit to do a site inspection until April but perhaps Krys knows the property inside out :-) and can describe it. The Seven Stars is also a new resort and having been looking to drum up business in the wedding department. My friend who is a travel agent is very good friends with the property manager and he had initially tried to talk me into doing our wedding there. I was a bit put off since they are so new.
  10. Wow, thanks both Bronze & Krys for the wealth of info!!! I am so excited I can't wait to start putting things all together. We are glad to be having a destination wedding to a destination that many of our guests have been wanting to go to but have never visited. I want everyone to enjoy themselves immensely since most guests are using it as a vacation, it being on a long holiday weekend. Krys thanks especially for the sightseeing tips.
  11. Thank you everyone for all the warm welcomes and best wishes. Dianna great work...took a peek at your website :-)
  12. I'm glad I found this particular thread. I am planning a Nov. 13th 2010 wedding in T&C. I know that we will be using Tropical Imaging since that is who came highly recommended by Monique our wedding planner but I was also thinking about doing a cruise and have had a hard time pulling up info on the available charter companies. Thanks everyone for the world of info you have provided. Can't wait to hear updates from those of you marrying there soon. Though I am from T&T I chose to get married in T&C because its close to Miami, still caribbean island feel and simply gorgeous. I'll be heading there in about April to do my site inspection of the resort we chose (The Somerset) and I can't wait. Of course I will keep you guys posted as well.

Hi Mrs. 2010, I will also be using Tropical Imaging but we haven't chosen a photgrapher or a package yet, but glad you mentioned Ileana. The resort mostly takes care of everything but at least it is good to have at least one name to reference to see their work. Best of luck with your wedding and can't wait to see your pics!
  14. Hi Everyone!!!! My name is Janine, my fiance Chris and I are planning a Nov. 13th 2010 wedding in Turks and Caicos to be held at the beautiful Somerset Resort! Glad I found this Forum because I know its gonna prove very essential in my planning!!!
