  1. I FOUND SOME!!! Here is a page with lots of pics of a beautiful couple (the girl is stunning, and she's Half Asian, too like me Anyways - they look to have done the basic package at The Royal Cancun with the resort photog: Funever Photos. AND - they did the ceremony in the gazebo there....with beach pics afterwards. THis is exactly what I think we'll do. THought I'd share the pics for anyone else that wants to see examples of a real wedding at THe Royal with thier 'package' photographer: Weddings by Legacy Travel: Kristina and Ian ~ THE ROYAL Cancun
  2. Anyone? Bueller? Maybe after everyone gets married they leave the forums? Seems like mostly brides-to-be planning. Still hoping someone may have pics of an actual wedding in the gazebo at GCR or TRC

I'd love beach ceremony but don't want to go barefoot.... Shooting for October 4 2010. My WC is Aja and she finally got back to me. Took a few emails though I posted a new thread wanting to see wedding pics in the GAZEBO at The Royal Cancun or Gran Caribe Real next door. Anyone here have them? Are you all doing the Chapel for ceremony? (it's friggin gorgeous, but neither of us are Catholic, so we are going with beach or gazebo) If anyone is doing the Gazebo at Gran Caribe or The Royal, lemme know and share any pics (real wedding photog pics) if you have them please

We stayed at The Royal Cancun in 07, so I think I know what you are sayign about the lounge/cabanas being "on the way into" the gazebo there! I never thought about that. I saw the Gran Caribe Gazebo pics and the gazebo itself looks IDENTICAL to The Royals'.....so I figured I would just do TRC. However- now that you mention it - maybe I'll do the Gran Carebe Gazebo. We are stay at TRC too!
  5. Ladies - I'm concerned that the ocean-front gazebo at The Royal Cancun is going to look "too dark" in photos of the ceremony. The Gran Caribe Gazebo next door is identical. So I'm asking anyone here to please share any PHOTOS of the ceremony inside the Gazebo at either location? I know my beach photos will look great, and I've been there in person, so the gazebo is beautiful -right over the water.....but because it's SOLID ROOF of DARK WOOD, I'm worried it will look oppressive/dark in photos taken during the ceremony. I have pics of the gazebo from the WC, but no examples of real "wedding photos" taken in there. Thanks!!

I really don't have too many more questions, though, so it shouldn't be too bad. And sadly, I'm thinking I will be a Noob on this site until the day I get married. Seems like it takes forever to gain status in this place. I'm working w/ her for my Oct. 4 2010 wedding at The Royal Cancun and she's been really responsive lately How exciting that everything is "set" for your big day now!
  7. I love love love the small gazebo there! I saw those pics and wished we could do our ceremony there. We are doing The Royal Cancun, just down the beach, but they don't have a light airy gazebo like yours does! I wanted to wear high heels so I'm in a conundrum. Looks lovely, thanks for sharing pics. I so wish that gazebo was at The Royal
  8. Welcome Andrea! I plan on The Royal Cancun on October 4, but still deciding about which location. May do next door at the Gran Caribe Cancun (if they have a better gazebo) I was also considering The Royal in Playa Del Carmen. I have to tell you, we stayed at The Royal Cancun in 2007 when it first opened and it was AMAZING. Simply the best vacation and stay we've ever had. That's why we are going back. You are going to LOVE IT!!! They have an ocean front gazebo, plus the best beach and water for weddings (water color is brigther and bluer....makes for super pretty pics) I'm still deciding if we do beach wedding (will be gorgeous pics, but I can't wear high heels).....or the gazebo. Have you contacted them yet? Communication is spotty - be persistent but I understand that the weddings end up going just fine, even if communication with the Wedding Coordinators there is lacking

Then I also emailed the Michigan-based WC, with no response. And directly at the WeddingSales alias. No word back at all Trying for an October 4th, beach-side wedding at The Royal Cancun, and staying there from October 1 - October 10. I can't believe noone has contacted me back in over two weeks. I want to let folks know when the date is, but this is getting ridiculous. I guess I'll try calling them?
  11. Thanks all, for the warm welcome and great feedback! I've found The Royal PDC thread and The Royal Cancun thread. Still need to choose between the two

We are basically eloping, so the only thing I really want are HIGH QUALITY photos and a nice little video. So - I can't find any info or examples of the photography QUALITY and LOOK w/ the package. May I ask who your photographer/videographer is? Did you go with outside vendor cuz the resort photographer isn't good enough? thanks!

The PDC is a lot bigger so if you're having a lot of guests that might be important and they have more wedding spaces and you can walk into Playa for shopping, drinking, eating, etc. But... Cancun has all oceanfront rooms, the infinity pool, and it's smaller so you're always close to everything. And because it's smaller we felt like we got even more special service there. CM - thank you soooo much for that specific feedback! That's exactly what I was looking for because we love The Royal Cancun so much, and I agree.....love the infinity pool, the ocean front rooms, the size, etc. PDC has a nicer downtown shopping area, but the resort itself looks alot different (bigger, and farther away from ocean and only the most expensive "end rooms" are ocean front) Your post was very helpful. We actually don't need all the nearby amentities because we eat and drink exclusively at the resort And we're not going there for the shopping. Thanks for the warm welcome, all!
  14. We have our trip booked to Cancun Oct 1 - 10, and our favorite resort in the WORLD, is The Royal Cancun. Since we stayed there in 07, the beaches have been improved and we KNOW the rooms are all ocean front - you can hear the waves and watch the sunrise from your balcony. We were THINKING of mixing it up and going to The Royal Play Del Carmen.....but that resort is set-back from the beach more and the only true ocean-front rooms look to be at the "ends" of the u-shaped hotel. And very expensive. I know Playa Del Carmen is "nicer" due to the shopping area, etc...and I know the beaches are fantastic. Just not sure which "The Royal" we'll stay at. I've looked at the wedding info on The Royal website but haven't contacted them yet. My guess is you are only allowed to use the resort photographer? And I'm having trouble finding example galleries of those photographers work, or bride reviews. I'll explore more with some Cancun photography-specific threads!!!!
