Well, I still exercise regularly! It's how I'm able to maintain the weight loss. I do yoga, swimming, core strengthening, and weight training. My exercise routine developed over time with the help of my chiropractor. I have a lot of chronic pain and these things help. For example, I have terrible knees, so I can't run but swim instead. Yoga keeps my back and shoulder pain at bay, as do the core and weight stuff. Variety is the spice of life! Helps keep me from getting bored.

While I haven't personally been to the resort yet, two different people went and checked it out for me while they were down there and they just raved and raved! I have never heard anyone say that AB is not beautiful!

I am not getting married on the beach. I'm getting married at what they call the "Sky Garden Gazebo" location, just above the beach. We wanted grass instead of sand, and I'm pretty sure that we raised such a fuss (looooong story) that they created this location just for us! It's now one of the options they offer to all brides, I think. If we get down there and don't like the location we'll just suck it up and get married on the sand.

Like amybermuda, I too am doing the Free Wedding package. I priced it out and it made more sense for us than the other packages. We're also getting the upgrades as are our guests. However, our guests are getting the upgraded rooms b/c of the contract we negotiated and not b/c of the resort's promotion.

My wedding is in May 0f 2011, and I would like to lose 75 pounds.....shocking.. I know!!

I know that once I am motivated to keep pushing, I can do it but it is soo hard to stay on track. I have fifteen months, and to stay healthy I should only focus on losing two pounds a week....so that is:

15 months X 4 wks = 62 wks X 2lbs. = 124 lbs ......SO it is possible but I just need to find a way to excercise every day! Being in school and stressing over exams, does not help!

Any ideas/plans/advice/motivation or people in a similar situation? Hope we can all help each other :)

Hi there! I just want to tell you that YES, YOU CAN DO THIS!!

Over a year ago, I lost 60 lbs and I've been able to keep it off. I lost the weight over 13 months (avg ~1 lb a week). My best advice is just stay focused, watch your portions, and go slow! My philosophy is that the slower you lose it, the more likely it is to stay off b/c you've learned along the way what it takes to be healthier. It's all about portion control and exercise. There were certainly weeks where I gained weight, and it can be hard not to get discouraged. But weight fluctuations are natural, and as long as the overall trend is the way you want it to be, you're doing great!

Oh, and don't deprive yourself either! If you want that piece of pizza, then go eat it! Just only have one piece, or balance it with a salad, or pair it with some exercise. If you deprive yourself you're only going to want it more and more until you finally cave in and then OVERindulge.

Just my two cents. Good luck!!! smile159.gif
  4. Congrats on picking the resort! I think you picked the best one, but I may be a bit biased wink.gif

Go you on your invitations! An early start is good.

We used to have an AB thread, but it mysteriously disappeared a few months back. So now we're pretty much just on the AS thread, like the other girls have mentioned.

I think of the current brides on the thread, I'm the next up at AB. I'll be sure to let you know how it goes!

Congratulations!!! I mean that seriously...it's hard not to gain weight! I lost 60 pounds over a year ago (and have kept it off!), so I know just how hard it can be. Slow and steady is the way to go! And not having gained weight, if even for a week, is worth celebrating cheesy.gif

Tiffany (uh oh) sent me all of the paperwork/dinner/ceremony options today and I was immediately overwhelmed so I ran straight here to get some insider info!

I'm sure there will be many frustrations down the road, but I'm a really laid-back bride, so I'm just going to try to remember to enjoy my day. I want a big, fun, sassy party for all my friends and family.

Anyway, hello from a newbie in Washington State!! I have a feeling I'll be here lots cheesy.gif
Welcome! Alright, another AB bride smile159.gif

My best advice is don't let the WC and hotel dealings change you from being laid-back to stressed. You're starting early so you have lots of time. Happy planning!

Oh my gosh that took my breath away when I saw it! I would be shocked not to have been asked.

That is one fabulous picture!! Your face is mostly hidden, so I wouldn't worry about people recognizing you. BUT, your photog should definitely have asked you first!

Good to know about Tiffany. She's my WC. Wondering how I can asked to be switched...hmm...maybe just ask my travel agent.

Can't wait for the full review and to see pictures. Going to request you on FB. My name is Amanda Brocato.

    Thanks!
I'm told Tiffany is THE WC for all Azul resorts and there's no one to switch to. Anyone know differently?

She got my cake cheaper and my chairs for almost half of what they quoted her... I don't know how she does it but she is the absolute BEST! We've become really good friends too in the last year, I'm sure that helps :)
Um, are you referring to Tiffany? Surely not.

    lmao that is AWESOME!
  11. You all at AS must have a lot more cake choices than we have at AB. Your hazelnuts and other unique flavors sound amazing!!! I'm quite jealous. At AB, we get to choose between 5 cakes, all either vanilla, chocolate, or strawberry. frown.gif

I sent them pics of two absolutely gorgeous but simple cakes to get them priced, and they came back being twice as expensive as their own cakes. Ridiculous! Imo, they were simpler than the ones they offer but one thing for sure about Karisma, they really stick you with a high price tag if you deviate from what they offer!

This is the one thing that bugs me about AB. People pay all this money to get mediocre rooms. I want a jacuzzi in my room damnit! But, I figure that since this is truly the only thing on my "Do Not Like" list about AB, it's worth staying for all the other reasons I love it.
  13. KittenHeart,

I picked up the tags today from the post office. Thanks so much!!! I'm going to cut off the bottom part and they'll be perfect! These are such a nice treat for me b/c they weren't something that had even crossed my mind. Now *poof!* this great idea has popped into my lap! I'm going to ship them ahead of time along with our programs/itinerary, so that guests get them as they check in!smile159.gif

I am soooooo annoyed! 40+ rooms disappeared in a week. I think there is either a famous/rich person getting married there or someone who works at Karisma who has the hook up internally.

I am going to keep trying, but it looks like a lost cause :-(

    BUMMER

Aw that is a huge bummer! I was really thinking this would work out for you at AB. Any news on the Villa?
