  1. Thanks Gem for letting me know about the flowers I think I will get real touch ones too as I refuse to pay $75 for a few gerbera daisies. As for the family not wanting to come, I have cried all week over that one. My only sister was supposed to be my maid of honnor, her daughter was to be one of my bridesmaids, and her son was supposed to give me away as my dad has not spoke to me for 6 years (because of an argument my sister and I had). I had bought all their dresses and shoes, paid a £200 deposit for her, her husband, my mum who lives with her, and her two kids on her request. We sat last Thursday night and discussed how she wanted to wear her hair. Then on Friday morning she sent me an email to tell me none of them are going anymore, when I asked why she said there are a few reasons, thats it. I was understandably upset but now she has twisted everything and I've had my mum dad everyone having a go at me. Plus I've lost £1000 in deposits, and I have not one member of my family going to be there for my wedding. I tried to cancel it but can't I would loose too much money. I can't use the same dresses as my neice would be devastated if she saw photos of my step daughters in the dress she was going to wear, and they feel tainted now. Who said getting married on the beach was the easier option lol
  2. I was just wanting to know where your lantern battery operated? Also did the hotel staff hang them for you that day? They are gorgeous really hope you don't mind that I might steel your idea, my theme is hot pink and black, and I think the lanterns would be really nice in pink and black. And so different to the normal flowers.

Oh my goodness, thank you so much. You look absolutely stunning and I can't waait to read your next installment!!!! Hi I was having that problem too, as the airline said I couldn't bring it on as hand luggage but I want my dress with me. My beautician got married in seychelles last year and she got a wedding dress travel box. it is the perfect size for hand luggage and her dress maker folded her dress into it with tissue paper. She was able to carry it ( it has a rope handle) the whole way to seychelles. She said that when she lifted her dress out when she got therte, it was perfect no creases in it. She is kindly lending me her box but they are available on the internet.

They also told me that it will take 10 business days to complete the paperwork and that I can include $28 with all my documents for FedEx to courier my papers back to me or I can include a pre-paid courier envelope for them to send the documents back in. . I checked that 30 days thing because I live in Ireland and the foreign and commonwealth office is in England so is the dominican embassey. We would never get them posted to one, returned to us and posted to the embassey in 30 days. I checked with the embassey and with Tiara and it is 12 weeks before the date of your return. I don't know where they get the 30 days from as it is not correct.

Hi, I'm the same, I am having gerbera daisy bouquets which are my favourite flowers but they're really cheap, certainly not $75 worth. I have emailed a couple of the florists that have been listed on this site but have not got a response from them. Let me know if you have any luck and I'll keep you informed too xo
  7. Thanks nsimpson for emailing me the ceremonys, now I am getting a bit concerned about my ceremony being in spanish and translated. We are definately going for the legal ceremony as we are bringing our friends and family halfway round the world and costing them a fortune and I want it to be our wedding, although I totally understand people getting married at home first, It would be so much easier. Does anyone know of anyone who does legal ceremonys in english Thanks
  8. Hi girls, I've tried to leave most of the planning to the last min to stop me getting too excited and now with 3 months to go its all systems go, i'm soooo excited as I'm sure you all are. I was wondering if you could help me out on something. I have found beautiful dried hydrangia petals called carnival mix which are citrus green, yellow, hot pink and orange, I need 6 litres of them, to give the guests cones for confetti and also to make an aisle on the beach of them. As thats going to take up far too much room/weight in my suitcase to bring with me. The ones I have found are in england and will cost a fortune to get posted to Dreams La Romana. Therefore I am trying to find something similar in America which I can get posted out to DR cheaper, as I'm in Ireland all I get is uk companies on web, can anyone help me with some websites that I may be able to find something similar. Thanks in advance Lesley xoxo

Yes, Tiara speaks fairly good english but she has quite an audible accent and if you have seen the ceremony that they do there you will realize that it won't give you that warm and fuzzy feeling that we're all after. My recommendation is absolutely to go with Pastor Rick who does both religious and non-religious ceremonies. If anyone would like to see a sample let me know and I'll e-mail it to you. Hi could you email me pastor Ricks ceremony and how much he costs if you don't mind, I'm starting to panic about the whole judge in spanish thing!!! We are having a legal ceremony so I really want it to be right, many thanks [email protected]

We arrive on the 30 June 2010, I'm so looking forward to it and meeting you there :-)
  12. Hi a lot of us have booked hdcphoto from punta cana, there is a thread on this site on them. They are by far the best I have seen and good value for money. I keep making the mistake of looking at other photographers websites just in case but still I think their pictures are the best. I think it just boils down to what you like but def give their website a look they make me cry everytime i see them :-)

I was like UMM excuse me what? I thought we already had you booked through the resort for our wedding? So confused! Oh thats scary!!!! Thats why I have got emails confirming everything so far, and I've made a wedding book with all the emails printed out and glued into it. My h2b thinks I'm neurotic but I will have it with me so I have everything at hand.
  14. Thanks amy, and thanks for the email. It has really but my mind at rest, I am really fussy about my hair and was panicing about them doing it, but those pictures look great, and thanks Julie for the pictures

Oh thanks for that link, I've somehow managed to miss that!!! It looks like I'll have no choice but to pay as I am absolutely not walking round the buffet in my dress. I'm not happy about having a set menu though as my two bridesmaid both 15 are really fussy eaters so it will be hard to please everyone. Also didn't realise you can post stuff directly to the hotel, thats handy, I'm bringing out dried petals to match my colour scheme and personalised cones to hand out to the guests, and also to make the aisle with. It would be soooo much handier to post them out before. Again Mnay thanks for that link xo
  16. Hi, I am having the same problem, as the costs of this wedding are just mounting!!!!! We have three children to pay for going as well!!! We have decided that we are not going to pay to "hire" the ssg nor pay the extra to have everyone served at the same time. We have paid £1000 plus each for an all inclusive holiday, which encludes food and drink, also I have 22 people all paying to stay at their hotel therefore I am refusing to pay for food we have already paid for!!! We are just going to ask for a table to be set up at the side of the ssg and we will all get our food when it comes!! I'm quite sure none of my guests will complain. I am having an evening reception when we get home for all the guests unable to make it to dlr, (and I get to wear my dress again). So it is costing us a lot too. Something somewhere has to give. Also ther are two reviews on trip advisors of weddings at DLR, one paid for a private reception, the other didn't and she said her tables were set away from the others in the restaurant and the waiters and staff were fantastic to them, they felt it was private enough and didn't regret not having a private reception.

I just cannot decide between wearing my hair up or down, we were in punta cana last year and my hair was a disaster ( think monica in friends ) but that my have been because my uk ghds didn't work!!! Would love to see some of there work for inspiration
  19. I'm soooo torn between getting married at a registry office at home and not telling anyone then just having a ceremonial service. Which would save approx £1000 on paperwork.... or.... having the real wedding there. Ok it costs more but its my only wedding (hopefully) and I want it to actually be my wedding on the beach not just acting it out. Am I wasting money by being over sentimental?

  21. Thank you so much Nadia and Amy, it really does put your mind to rest to know we've made the right choice. I was so worried about getting my friends and family to spend so much money on my wedding. Thanks again, can't wait to get home from work and be able to see the photos :-)

Also, has anyone seen the DLR fan page on facebook? There looks to be a couple February brides on there - I wish they would come to BDW to share their experiences! hi amygirl, I'd love to see the ssg menu but it won't let me look at it for some reason. would you be able to sent it to me at [email protected]. Thanks

How did you ladies find out if your date was even available? Maybride2010 Thanks for the welcome. This site is SOOO good, I can't stop telling people how much it's helped me! Also, thanks for the advice about WeDo - I'll see what they have to offer! Thanks ladies! Hi I tried emailing Tiara with my date and time as did the travel agent and I was getting quite anxious as our flight prices were going up all the time!! So I eventually rang her as I needed it confirmed before I could book flights etc. She then sent quite a cheeky email to my travel agent, it appears things run on her time and she doesn't like to be rushed. So I am grateful for all tthe answers I get on this website as it means I can leave her alone until nearer my date :-)
