  1. The rental requirements change per season, but for April-May its $7200 for a three night minimun. This is for all 10 rooms. As far as vendors, I don't have specific contact info because the WP is handling the communication between us. We have a classic guitar for the ceremony for $200 for 1 hour, a calypso band for the cocktail hour for $750 and a DJ for 4 hours $1200. The decor we had a budget of $1500 with 3 bridesmaids flowers and my flowers. The cake to feed 50 is $300. The Beach BBQ at the Poopdeck sandyport for the Welcome dinner is $48 pp and includes a hog roast on the beach, BBQ chicken, several sides, salad, tables, chairs, linens, tiki torches, etc. Our guests are paying for their own drink choices. We have transportation set up for both events. $12 pp from ASTA (the B& to The poopdeck. $150 for a van that holds 10. We are having 2 vans for the ceremony so that my FI and I don't see each other before hand. We are flying in our own photographer that did our engagement pics, and our friends are going to video. At Compass Point the reception is on the sundeck which has a minimun of $3000 F&B minimum. We have the choice of steak/chicken/pasta with conch chowder and 4 hours open bar witha champagne toast. My best advice is keep a thorough record of amounts owed deposits paid and details planned. There have been a few items off but have been quickly corrected, but only because I had been keeping a close record. ASTA has been great! So far, I am happy with them, but time will tell... only 20 days till we arrive!
  2. If you email local dry cleaners and formal wear shops, there are several that will come to you. We ended up going with Buttons Bridal and Formal wear because they got back with us so quickly and the price was reasonable.
  3. Are you also staying at Compass point? What did you choose for your meal/bar selection?
  4. I found a place in the Cable Beach shopping center That will come to you and steam for a very reasonable price. I have my gown, grooms tux, and 4 bridesmaids dresses all for about $125. The place is called Buttons Bridal and Formal Wear LTD. They had a very quick response. I think I have everything planned, but now I just have to hope the wedding planner has everything in order. She just sent a full list of everything I owe and all the plans. There are several things that were wrong! yikes!! She is suggesting that I wire her the remaining balance because the oversees fee is twice as much for using a credit card. Any thoughts?
  5. Awesome! Do you have everything planned for your wedding and reception? What are your plans?
  6. A fruit palm tree is a really cute idea for a reception following a beach destination wedding. you can buy a kit that has a stand and directions, just add fruit! www.smartyhadaparty.com has really nice inexpensive plates, napkins, cups, and lots more and it's cute stuff too. www.save-on-crafts.com has great decorating ideas. www.quickcandles.com has bulk candles for a good price www.dollartree.com has nice vases for $1 of course Our splurge was on a steel drum band to bring the island feel to our reception.
  7. Have you looked at A Stone's Throw Away in Nassau? It's a small bohemian style Bed and breakfast. my fiance and I along with our guests are staying here, but our ceremony/ reception is at Compass Point. The rooms at Compass point were too expensive for our guests price range and the B&B is just right down the road. Also there are some beautiful villas, depending on your price range, that is another idea.
  8. My wedding is not at a big resort, but instead it is at a small boutique hotel. I found that I wanted eyes and ears over there on my behalf. Most vendors in the Bahamas seem to be on Island time, and being a detail oriented bride, I found that it was taking to long to get replies on my specific questions. I am using Victoria Sarne as my WP. She is not actually from the bahamas, but lives there. Everything goes through her. I tell her what I want and then she comes back with a few options. It is much less stressful with her help.
  9. I am getting married in Nassau at Compass Point. It is a boutique hotel and super cute, but really expensive to stay there. We are staying about 5 min. from there at A Stone's Throw away Bed and Breakfast. It is a bohemian style building and really homey. It only has 10 rooms so we rented the entire place for our guests( and then the guests are paying us for there rooms). We invited our parents/siblings/ and wedding party to stay there with us and everyone else can stay anywhere they choose. We have about 35 people going. We gave them a few choices that are close, but most of them decided to rent a beach house. I am very pleased with both places so far. My WP is Victoria Sarne. She gets back to me quickly and seems very organized. I started planning over a year in advance and most WP would barely even reply, but Victoria is on top of it. She is not on Island time like everyone else in the bahamas.
  10. I'm getting Married at Compass Point April 29, 2011. We are have rented a Stone's Throw Away Bed and Breakfast for our all of our guests. That way it will only be our fam and friends and no wild chidren or tourists. My wedding Panner, Victoris Sarne has been great, but I am having trouble "ironing out" one specific detail (no pun intended). How am I going to dewrinkle my dress? It has to be hand steamed and the small B&B doesn't offer a service. The wedding planner recommeded I take it to a dry cleaners, but I'm feeling nervous about it. Any suggestions??? Here are the wedding details in case anyone is interested in what we have planned. Thursday our guests' arrive and we will have cocktails by the pool at the B&B. That night we are having a pig roast on the beach at the Poop Deck @ Sandyport. Friday morning me and the girls are going to the Marley Resort Mystical Spa for for mani/pedi. The wedding is at 5 on the dock at Compass Point followed by a cocktail hour with a calypso band. For the reception we are having the choice of steak/chicken/ pasta. And a simple cake. We will have a DJ for the night. Saturday the men are going deep sea fishing and we are either going to have the B&B prepare it for us for dinner. Then we are off to Greece for our Honeymoon!!!
