  1. I just thought I would let you know what I did for my bridesmaid's bouquets in December. I felt the same way about spending so much on flowers that we couldn't bring home. We asked around (the workers at the resort) as well as the guy in charge of booking excursions about where the best florist is. I told them of my idea about going to Costco, they of course, were horrified. I definitely like the idea of supporting a local vendor much better. I the end I went to Rosa's, which is all the way down the Malecon and in a block. I was given directions by the resort. We asked for specific colours and flowers, turquoise ribbon ect. In the end, I was given beautiful bouquets with large bird of paradise, fat green leaves folded around the edge like I had asked for and other brightly colored flowers like lilies. They were put together very well and lasted a long time. We were married on Monday and by Saturday they were still perfect, where as my bouquet from Dreams was falling apart as we were doing pictures that very same day. I loved the way it looked, but the quality was crap as well as I had to put my own ribbon on it. Each bouquet from Rosa's was $30, but well worth it. We paid $10 to have all the flowers delivered, which also included a giant bag of rose petals for my flower girl and a huge stem of Casablanca lilies. My only disappointment was the lily was to go in my hair, but was not open for the day of the wedding. They did open beautifully for the following day which was the trash the dress shoot. I would highly recommend Rosa's. Hope this helps!
  2. Hi ladies, My wedding is only a few weeks away, so this new WC is making me a bit nervous! Louise Daly is the new wedding coordinator at Dreams. Sh has sent me en email stating that if I have any questions or concerns I should not hesitate to email her. The email addy is [email protected] I'm just hoping everything goes smoothly!! Good luck to everyone!
  3. Thanks for all the info on outside vendors. I've looked over all of my emails and I think I'm alright and I just have to pay the $90 day pass. I'm getting so excited! We've booked Michelle Turner (she's American but lives pt in PV). I also wanted to hire the dj there just so it's one less thing for me to worry about, but I have heard nothing but negative reviews, like gowiththeflow said, why do all the leg work yourself and then still pay someone on top of that?! We're bringing an ipod and our Bose docking station which has amazing sound. Hope everyone's planning is going well.
  4. Hi Lauren, I guess if anyone would know, it would be you! I feel like you're the expert! We booked mid December and sent our deposit December 28, 2009. I'm reading over every single email sent between Rebeca and I and the only thing she said was no outside DJ or musician.
  5. Hi ladies, So as I'm reading this I am getting worried. I have booked my wedding at dreams, we have 50 guests staying there as well. We hired at photographer outside of the resort. No where in any of my contracts does it say anything about not bringing in outside vendors. This better be the case seeing as we are paying BIG money for our photographer. It's less than 3 months away!!
  6. Hi Karen, Not too sure if you have mentioned the cost anywhere, but how much is it to rent a loung for the evening? I am thinking my wedding is going to be very different than everyone else's here (we aren't having a formal reception). Having a lounge to ourslves for the night would be good though!
  7. When researching destinations for our wedding I read all of the travel warnings and concerns expressed from both travellers and government. Even though there are some warnings for PV we have no concerns for our safety! When I was there a few years back there was zero issues. My parents have gone many times without incident, my 65+ year old aunt has gone every year for the past 12 years and one of our groomsmen has a condo there and they all feel safe! I think that as a tourist in ANY city (US, Canada, Mexico - anywhere!) you need to be smart. This means no walking alone late at night, no flashing money around, no illegal activity. Â We are all going to have an amazing time in PV at our weddings! Can't wait!!

What did you hase in mind, ebay? I would definitely be interested...
  9. Autumn, I have to ask (and I don't know how to directly msg you) where is your rehersal drewss from? What brand is it? I think it's so pretty and looking at your planning thread makes me feel like I should get my butt in gear!
  10. From what I have understood you pay the $55 for every person after the 20 person limit. And yes, there is a minimum amount of people needed for the buffet. It's actually hilarious how people think when it comes to DW if they haven't done any research. My best friend keeps saying "think of how easy and cheap it will be for you. No stress, ect ect. Ha, yeah right!
  11. Hi ladies, I'm just in the process of booking Michelle Turner to photograph of Dreams PV wedding Dec 20. Just curious if anyone has had her recently. I am interested in looking at a bunch of photos of one wedding. Her photos are amazing, but I haven't seen a bunch from one day. Thanks!
  12. Hi ladies, So I'm booked at Dreams PV for Dec 20, 2010. Super excited, even though we aren't getting exactly what we wanted. I read online somewhere (from all the stuff Rebeca gave me) fireworks are no longer an option. Does anyone know if this is true? It seems a lot of people have been given different answers to some things. Thanks, this forum is super helpful!
  13. Hi Ladies, I know it's been mentioned, but you should be paying $35 for an extra person if it's a platted meal. It starts at $55 per extra person for a buffet. I completely agree with the idea that paying all that extra money at an all inclusive is crazy. Friends of mine got married in the Mayan with a stunning wedding set up and private dinner, flowers, cake, champagne reception and more for 30+ people for $1600.
  14. Hi ladies, Just want to say how helpful this forum is! So much info on here, love it! My fiance and I are getting married at Dreams PV January of 2011. Lots of time to plan, but judging by all of posts, it looks like we'll need it!
