  1. Hi, I am getting married at the Sandos Mar 1, 2011. We decided to create a wedding website that contains all the travel info our guests will need. If you want to check it out it is www.jayandlindsay.ca Instead of sending formal invitations, we sent out e-vites from the back end of our website. It acted as a Save-The-Date and invite all in one (I will try to attach the pdf of it for you). Then I just sent regular email updates to people. Cheap and so easy to keep track of since we have large families! Hope this helps. Cheers Lindsay Wedding Invite.pdf

  3. Hi, We just arrived home from Mexico today. We did a site visit and after touring several resorts there was no doubt in our minds that we will book Sandos Playacar. In terms of paying fees for guests that are not staying on the resort, we were pondering the same thing. We decided that we are not going to pay the fee because we are unsure how many guests will be staying at the resort and $77 USD can add up fast! If you only have five, then I would prob pick up the tab more than that I would prob make them pay. Good luck, let me know if you have any questions about the resort. 4. The bonfire idea does sound awesome, please let us know when you get the price for it. In terms of a reception, all we really care about is that some people can do their speeches and we can have a few first dances. After that a bonfire would be awesome!
  5. First, I am from Winnipeg, MB and we are known for being price conscious here (coupon capital of the world) - lol. So the must have is that the price per person is under $2000. I am getting married in Jan 2011 but this should be doable. Some other details: - I will have approx 40 people at the wedding. - We are doing a symbolic wedding ceremony. A Mayan wedding is preferred. - There will be no kids, but either way that is not a concern of ours. - Beach wedding, semi-private or private reception (as long as we can all eat together, say some quick speeches and dance to our first song) - I will use an in-house photographer. - I am not picky at all about flowers or any of that stuff. Bottom line is I want to get married somewhere on the beach that is reasonable price for me and my guests. My fiance and I only have $5000 CDN budgeted for the ceremony/reception. So far we have looked in the Sandos PlayaCar and Gran Porto Real but would like at least one more resort to check out while we are visiting mexico this winter. Thanks!
  6. Will they section off an area for your dinner at one of the restaurants? The disco idea sounds good. Did they quote you a price to rent it? If you rent it for a few hours is that where you would do your first dance and any speeches?? We have quite a few guests that aren't going to stay at the resort we book either because they don't like All Inclusives. That price seems pretty good. We are really hoping to find a place that we can get for under $1800 per guest. The other cost I am curious about is the photographer. The package info that the resort sent me does not include a lot of pictures. Are you planning to upgrade that portion of your package? Did your travel agent offer a deal for you and your fiance if enough rooms get booked at the Sandos Playacar? We have heard rumers of this but since our wedding is still over a year away, we have not even contacted a travel agent yet. Good Luck with the rest of your planning, I am excited to hear how everything turns out! Thanks for all the info!

Also if you don't mind sharing, what price are your guests paying for one week AI (some of our guests are fairly price sensitive)? Thanks and good luck!!! Sorry i just realized that you have 13 guests booked.

Does anyone know of anyone who did the Mayan ceremony there?

The food at the a la cartes was really good. There were lots of kids though!!! The hot tub was supposed to be adults only but kids were literally doing canon bombs in it. There was a wedding there when I was there in 2007. It was really nice, the bride said things were good. The beach is a bit rough on the feet though. It is a 5 min walk to the village (the publlic beach is so awesome) and a 20 min cab ride to Playa Del Carmen. I would go back if it weren't for the rough beach. The marina village is small and quite wonderful.

  12. Hello Brides! After searching hi and low for the perfect place at home, we decided to follow our dream of a destination wedding on the beach! We are thinking of a wedding on the Mayan Riviera or right in Playa del Carmen. Any ideas? There will be about 40 of us, including children. Some people are price sensitive.
