  1. Hi, I got married at the Royal in Playa Memorial Day weekend 2010. I am more than happy to share my experience and give any and all tips or advice I can. Let me just say the wedding was AMAZING!! wouldnt change a thing if I could. We arrived on Wednesday before the wedding, most guests arrived Thursday or Friday so Thursday night we did a welcome cocktail hour (included in our package) at the beach at the Gran Porto (about 1/2 of our guests were staying there, plus there were some kids, so this way everyone could come) and it was so much better than i expected. They had beautiful white linen and food (which i didnt expect) and the service was remarkable, everyone had a drink at all times! after we all walked into town and went to a fun bar without a problem (there were like 20 of us) but they were welcoming and easy. Friday night was our rehearsal dinner which we did at a local restaurant (Negrosal) and was affordable and great, they even provided us with a DJ for no extra charge! Our wedding planner was Zulma, she is fantastic, always available and smiling! I have pictures, plus I had amazing save the dates, invitations, and itineraries I would be happy to share if anyone is interested, all affordable, mexican and fun! and most available online. Hope I can help! Denise
  2. Hello all, first I want to say thank you for all the advice, now that the holidays are over my wedding is fast approaching! I will post my save the dates and invites as soon as I figure out how. I did the boarding pass std, got a great deal from a guy on Long Island, and i did my invites with heather at etsy.com (Talavera Mexican Tile Pressed Wedding by LetterpressLight on Etsy[]=tags&includes[]=title) which I loooove!! anyway, my question is regarding getting ready, how far in advance should I book for hair/makeup, and if my wedding is at 6, what time do i need to be there by? Also, can I get it done with my bridesmaids? even if they are staying at the Gran Porto? Thanks Denise
  3. Tracy thanks for the review!! very helpful as your wedding sounds a lot like mine will (hopefully be( my concern is, as my guests start booking, I do have a few people coming with kids and therefore staying at the gran, including my parents and my fiancees parents, is it really a pain to see them, we would like to hang out with them during the trip, are they really difficult with guests from next door I am starting to freak out about this.. Thanks for any help anyone can give...
  4. So I am having a bit of a six month before freak out thanks to a bad review some of my guests read on trip advisor. It talks about how the wedding planner didnt care, and the problems with guests that are staying at the Gran Porto. I am getting married at the Royal but about half, if not more, of my guests are staying at the Gran Porto due to children under 16 or just cost. What should I do since those guests cant take part in any rehearsal dinner or cocktails the night before at the Royal, plus can they hang out at the same beach? I dont want them to feel left out... Thanks This is the review everyone is talking about: Went for a friend's wedding and won't be back - Review of Gran Porto Real Resort and Spa, Playa del Carmen, Mexico - TripAdvisor Thanks for keeping me sane!!

I'm wondering if Funever has a bunch of photographers. I am going with Claudia Rodriguez but I saw pictures on Funever's website and they seem nice. I am just trying to decide if I should save money and go with Funever since I won't have to pay $200 in vendor fees and have Claudia and her team as guests for reception and go with Claudia for my TTD. Whoa, there are Four other weddings that day! I am actually the one at 6pm.. hope its not a problem, but thats a lot of weddings, where are you having yours?? how can they accomodate all those weddings?

Could you let me know how weather is like? I am worried that it will be too hot for my wedding/reception since it will be outdoor! Plus, I don't want any mosquitoes to be celebrating with us either! Lol I am also gettng married there May 29th, 2010!
  7. Thanks you so much, I am booked for May 29th, 2010 and am already worried about the whole thing, I love everyones reviews, giving me lots of tips, I try to coordinate with my planner, Zulma, but I think she thinks I am a little crazy since I have so much time, but I figure the more I get done now the better... We went on a scouting trip 2 weeks ago and it all seemed great, I am hoping not much changes, or it gets better, a little less than a year from now! Keep the pics and reviews coming and thanks for your input!
