I'll have to slyly mention it at the trial haha. The price he quoted me for the BM's was 72 for hair, and 120 for both hair & makeup --not bad. For me I think it's like 136 total -which is great!! Is that what he quoted you as well? I can't wait to heat the scoop from you when you get back. How's the home stretch treating you? I actually called him and when we were talking I said I was concerned about so many stylists coming because of the guest passes. He said he would call the resort and speak with them since he speaks Spanish. I guess we'll see if he actually follows through. I was quoted the same thing for bridesmaids, but $170 for hair and make up for me. I'm really interested to see what the airbrushing looks like, I've never tried it before. Thankfully I'm going in for a trial before the wedding to check it out. The home stretch has been great, though I still have a few things to check off my list. Mostly getting ready for the vacation part is what I still have left to do. I'm excited and can't wait to share all the details!!
  2. Yes, my wedding is in 2 weeks and I'm crazy excited!! Trevor did say they could do either, shuttle or come to the resort. That is honestly one of the main reasons I wanted to go with a stylist so that I could just have my hair done in the room. However, the brunch does sound really fun too! He does seem to have GREAT prices. I asked him about the guest passes and he told me not to worry about it, that he would talk with the resort and get it covered. I guess since he is not going to be using the facility or having dinner he will probably try and convince them that he doesn't need to pay. But, since he said not to worry I am assuming he'll cover the cost if they do make him pay. Hopefully someone will jump in and give us a review, but I think he's going to be great!
  3. I've recently been checking out hair/make up stylist for my upcoming wedding. I found Waves Salon and spoke with the manager. He sounds awesome, but I haven't been able to find any reviews. Just wondering if anyone has used them for their wedding or has heard anything about their services. Thanks!!

  5. Yeah Shannon!! Thank you sooo much for you review! Very helpful! I'm bummed to hear you didn't like the Mexican Restaurant =( That is where we are having our rehearsal dinner. Oh well, I probably won't even be able to eat that night anyway I'll be too excited!! I'm sooo glad to hear how great the DJ was. We are having him also and I am pumped. Did he do the cold fireworks for you? Karla never got back to me about whether or not that was allowed. Anyway, so happy you had a great time!! Leah =)
  6. We actually met Rachel and Paul last summer when we did a site visit. They were AWESOME!! They will be shooting our wedding in June and we are super excited. They appear to do great work! Not too mention I think their prices are much more reasonable then some of the others in the area. Hope that helps!

Due to wind, they moved a wedding in the chapel the night of the rehearsal, set us off about 30-40 minutes...no worries... =) I was late and lost the English speaking judge...had to have it translated and they forgot to do the exchange of rings...no worries...we really let everything slide and had a blast. The DJ was GREAT, and Claudia (photog) was AMAZING. She held us together.... I will write my full review within the week, things are still a little hectic. Things fall into place and if it doesn't...you shouldn't worry...that was my theme and we had the best time of our lives!!!! Yeah!!!! I'm so glad everything was so wonderful for you. My fiancee just asked me the other day if I was going to be okay if things didn't go perfectly. I told him that as long as they don't bring me some wacky color flowers or something I'll probably just roll with the punches! I can't wait to see more pics! You looked beautiful and I'm sure Claudia took even more amazing pictures!!! Congrats again!! =)

Thanks again As far as I know this is the only one. I suppose you could always try and request another restaurant. Last summer we went to a friends wedding at the Lindo. They had their dinner at an a la carte and it was very nice. The resort did a nice job making it feel private. They were able to do speeches, just without a microphone, but no first dance. We had a small group and it was perfect!

I'm kind of confuse with the options for the reception. Do you think you could explain to me all the option? If you have time I would really appreciate!!! Thanks, Mags To have a private reception you just pay an additional $800. The $2450 includes dinner for 10 people at any of the a la carte restaurants. Each extra person is $20. Hope that helps!! Leah =)
  10. Shannon I know you are not checking this today, but I wanted to let you know I was thinking about you on your wedding day!! I am so excited for you and can't wait to hear how perfect you wedding was!!! Congrats!!
  11. That is so funny, I just read and article about that and was wondering the same thing. Last year it was swine flu, this year oil!! Hopefully they will get it all figured out!! Fingers crossed!!

And also that I can't choose the rehearsal restaurant beforehand, because they don't know if it's available. And also that they can't guarantee that our guests will be put in rooms close to each other. I have less than 30 guests. How is it possible that the coordinators don't know? My wedding is more than a month in advance. It costs alot of money to have a wedding at Iberostar, and I'm not getting the few things I'm requesting. I tried politely to explain my frustration, and they responded with "This is how all the hotels of the world work." Does anyone have any insight for me? Thanks! That is so weird. Karla asked me awhile ago which restaurant I would like to have the rehearsal and what time. She did say we could either do 6:30 or 8:30. Regarding the rooms, our travel agent is going to give her Iberostar contact a list of all the guests and will be requesting that they are in the same building. When we stayed at the Lindo last year for a wedding we were in the same building as everyone else. They may just say that to cover themselves in case they are unable to accommodate. Maybe the reason they can't guarantee a chapel rehearsal is because if there is rain my wedding will be moved there. But, hopefully that is not the case!!! That is so fun that you are getting married the day after us!! Hope this helps!! Leah

And I'm sorry if I missed it in the posts already, is there a private reception at the Lindo? I didn't think. LDeeken & Lindobride - are you in Chicago or the suburbs? I'm in Joliet Yeah the ala carte think kind of stinks. But like I said, if your guests are more concerned with saving money then they might not care. And then if they do they can stay at the Lindo. We have a combo of both. We live in Lake in the Hills near Crystal Lake!
  14. That's what I have been told too. To me that is the ONLY negative thing about staying at the Del Mar. However, the wedding night dinner does not count towards that. So if they were there for 4 nights they would have 2 nights with buffet. I have read some places that if there is room at the restaurant you may be able to get in, but that's not guaranteed. Kind of a bummer, but if people are really looking to pay less they may not care. You can still stay at the Lindo and have unlimited a la cartes. That's what we are doing. Hope that helps!!

I cannot thank all of you enough for your posts - it really helped me make the decision in the end!! Congratulations!! I remember this time last year trying to decide on a resort. I spent hours on the computer doing research. It is such a great feeling to finally know where you are getting married!! Good Luck with your planning, this forum is the best for planning!!

Stinks because I developed a good relationship with Mayra. She's so sweet. How have you found the WC's to be at Del Mar? That's great! Hopefully your date will still be available!! The WC's are great!! I have worked with Reyna and now Karla and they have both been wonderful. We met Reyna last summer when we were down there and she was so helpful!! I am so happy we chose the Del Mar. I guess you might need to change your user name to DelMarBride, huh?? Shannon - 1 week from today you will be getting married!! Can you believe it!! Time sure does fly!! Have fun this week, I'll be thinking about ya!! Leah =)

The problem is that I paid my deposit and reserved the date through the Lindo. Is it a big deal to change this? Anyone personally do this? Another plus is then guests on a budget can stay at the Del Mar/Beach and not have to pay the guest pass to go to the wedding at the Lindo. I think the WC at Lindo had wrote in a past email that the Bride & Groom must stay at the resort where the reception will take place? Is this true or can we still stay at the Lindo and have our reception at the Del Mar? That is why we decided to have our wedding at the Del Mar. We loved the Italian restaurant and wanted to have our private reception there. We didn't have to put down a deposit, so I don't know what their policy is on switching. My fiance and I are staying at the Lindo and getting married at the Del Mar. The WC told us it was not a problem. We also liked the fact that our guests had more of a choice of where to stay. In fact the majority of our guests are staying at the Del Mar. We did just book the Presidential Suite at the Del Mar for the Day/Night of the wedding for $300. Since most of our guests are staying at the Del Mar and I wanted the girls to have a bigger room to get ready in, we thought this would be perfect! It is right by the Italian restaurant too, so if we need to go back for touch ups or something we are close. Just something to think about! Shannon-What did you do about choosing an entree for each guest? Karla wants us to have each guest choose either a fish or meat. We already sent out the invites and didn't include this. I was thinking of just contacting everyone individually but I didn't know if that was tacky. Also, which meat did you choose? We can't decide. I don't eat meat so I don't really care, but just wanted another opinion. 1 more week!!!!
  18. Oh my gosh Emmers and Shannon, I can't believe your wedding are finally here!! I am so excited for the two of you!!! I wish we were getting married a little earlier, we could all celebrate together!! Ursula, it does kind of depend on which resort you choose. At the Del Mar there is a wedding gazebo and an open air restaurant near the pool where you can have a private reception. That is what we are doing. Here are links to 2 videos that I put on youtube. We took these during our visit last summer. Hopefully they will help you at least get an idea of what those 2 venues look like. Wedding Gazebo: YouTube - Iberostar Paraiso Wedding Gazebo Wedding Chapel: YouTube - Iberostar Paraiso Wedding Chapel Good Luck and keep us posted on what you decide!
  19. Oh my gosh Shannon, I was just looking at your signature and realized you only have 21 days until your wedding!!! You must be getting so excited!!
  20. Hi Shannon - Things are going great! We just got back from Jamaica, which made me realize how happy I am that we chose Riviera Maya. It wasn't bad, but Riviera Maya is just so much prettier. So now I'm working on all the last minute details like gifts, welcome bags, information packets, etc. Tara - The Italian restaurant is only available at the Del Mar/Beach. I don't think the Lindo has an open air restaurant that you can use for a private event. It's great to hear though that they actually have a private option now. When we began planning the Lindo didn't have that option, which is why we went with the Del Mar.
  21. We actually saw a reception taking place on the beach when we were down there this summer. When I asked the WC about it she said it was not an option. I didn't question it too much because we really like the Italian Restaurant. Keep us posted on what you decide. Hope everyone's planning is going well! We just sent out our invites, so I'll have to take pictures and post them sometime soon. Just been sooo busy!!
  22. Tara, You can stay at the Lindo and have the ceremony and reception at the Del Mar. That is what we are doing. It works out nice too because then our guests can stay at the Del Mar which is a little less expensive. You will however have to work with the wedding coordinator at the Del Mar and book your wedding through them. If you are able to do a private reception at the Lindo that would be great! I think if I would have known that before I might have considered getting married at the Lindo instead. Though I do LOVE the Gazebo at the Del Mar.
  23. I guess I never really thought about falling in love with a dress you can't have. It is so crazy to see some of the budgets those girls have!! Even though it wasn't Kleinfeld's I LOVE my bridal shop and had an awesome experience there. Can't wait to go back in April and see my dress after it's been altered. So I'm starting to finally feel like a bride now too because some of my work friends threw me a surprise bridal shower this weekend. I usually don't mind being the center of attention, but it felt so weird having everyone giving me gifts. It was a beautiful shower and I got lots of fun stuff!! I had been wondering why so many things had been bought off my registry when my family shower isn't until April 10th. Hope everyone is enjoying their planning. For a few of us its only going to last about 2-3 more months =(
  24. Oh that would be great if she could be there. I haven't asked her yet about the actually rehearsal so I will have to check on that too. That is so true about the dresses some people pick out on Say Yes to the Dress. You live in NY, did you ever go to Kleinfeld's? I would just want to go to have Randy help me! So I don't know about everyone else, but it sounds like alot of our guests are starting to get really good deals on travel. We now have a total of 39 people!!
  25. Hi Girls! Shannon, I did have my dress fitting about 2 weeks ago! I am SOOO happy with my dress. I don't know about any of you girls, but I had a bit of dress regret. For awhile I was afraid I didn't pick the right one. But after putting mine on I knew I made the right choice. I think I had just been watching too many episodes of "Say yes to the dress!" Emmers - I just got that sheet from Karla too! I think we are going to have our Rehearsal dinner at the Mexican Restaurant. We will probably just have our wedding party meet at the Gazebo at about 6 to do an informal walk through. Does anyone have suggestions on how to run the rehearsal since the WC will probably not attend? I think I would feel weird directing everyone myself. Anyway, I'm just so excited for all of us!! Can't believe its almost here! I think I'll be said once its over, being engaged is so much fun!!
