Judge will require a cash fee of $50.00 USD for transportation Thank-you for the info on the Royalty package. I inquired about that and I was told that this is the 2010 package. It is unfortunate because it is the same price as the Princess package but has only half the stuff. Has anyone been able get the Royalty package for a 2009 wedding?
  2. Hi, I am wondering if anyone who is doing a legal wedding has been ask for scanned copies of their (and 4 witnesses) passports? This seems really shady to me. A faxed copy maybe, but an actual scanned digital copy could possibly be reproduced. I am not sure what to do about this, any suggestions?

I have all the packages and private reception information which I have attached below. I have also attached the salon price list. I am booking hair appointment for my bridesmaids and the moms. It is quite expensive for Mexico but I guess it is the goign price for Canada so I will not complain too much about that. I have chosen the gala reception, which includes private room DJ and a set menu ( I am trying ot negotiate so that we can accomodate the vegetarians and those who do not like fish. They are very strict with the menus). The gala option does not include a bar for alcohol that technically should already be included. They want an additional 15$ an hour per person to set up a domestic bar. I have told that it was not an option, I was just going to make my own bar, bring my own bottles. They still want to charge $15 a bottle for me to bring it into the room, which is fine, but they are really trying to get any penny out of you as they can. My wedding coordinator Sandra has been good, she is responding quickly and trying to accomodate my requests as best she can. I don't have many of them but I am celiac so I have asked them for a gluten free cake and she is talking with the chef to see what they can do, which I really appreciate. The beach option was really tempting but at US$85/person it seemed a bit much, especially if you then needed to pay more for a dance floor and DJ. (i think it would have amounted to an extra $2000. I have chosen the Royalty package, mainly because it accomodates up to 40 people without additional charges. The others only accomodate up to 20 and hten charge an additional $12/person which can add up quicky. Plus I like to think of myself as Royal Let me know if you have other questions, I have asked a lot of them and got some answers. Hope this helps. I don't think I have seen any info on a Royalty package, please explain.

If you already have your date confirmed I would just let her know that you were given these other prices when you booked your wedding with them. I'm sure they will be able to work it out for you. We're having our wedding on the beach with the arch and the price now has more then doubled so I was really upset but I emailed her what I had received before and she agreed to honor that price. Ya we have everything confirmed. I have been in many discussions regarding the changing prices, and for the most part they are honoring the originals. I just hate the debating, and I am worried that there will more surprise costs when we get there.

My TA has been negotiating like crazy with the resort, and right after we finally reached an agreement on the dinner they sprung the news of the bar costs on us. We haven’t committed to any bar service and we are thinking we will negotiate this in person. I wish I knew the layout of the resort because our guests sure wouldn’t mind getting their own drinks if there is a bar close.

Hi Katie, Sorry to hear things aren't going well. We are getting married at the GRP on Dec 10th and to be very honest with you, I am also feeling a bit ripped off. There seems to be a new cost everytime I turn around. We have been trying to agree on our final contract for the last 5 months. I don't know if this helps. Good Luck with everything.
  7. Sorry to vent but I too have ran into some issues. We have our wedding scheduled for Dec10th we booked it in March. We choose a destination wedding because it would be simple, informal, and gorgeous. We didn’t think we would have so many guests, but right now, 70 people have put down deposits. We were also told that this is too many people for an ala carte dinner and we are forced to pay for a private reception. Being left with no other choice we agreed to this. Since then we have now been informed that there will be absolutely no drink service. If we wish to have any beverages available for our guests we must pay for an open bar. This will add another $3400! Not to mention the fact that every time I have received an additional service price list, the amounts have gone up. So please if you are committed to this resort, get all your costs nailed down and in writing ASAP, it will save you a lot of surprises.
  8. On a unrelated topic: does anyone know how much the resort charges to bring in an outside photographer?
  9. I don’t think this question has been answered elsewhere, but I apologise if it has. Does anyone know how many people the gazebo can hold? We have 60 (54 minus the B&G, and wedding party) booked right but are expecting some late joiners and number could be around 70. I am pretty sure we will be too many for the gazebo, but I thought I would ask.

Also, if we are in the same week, do you have a photographer yet, maybe we can share one? Thanks. Hello eeyore333, Sorry for the delayed reply. I really have to check this more frequently. We are getting married at the GRP on Dec 10/09, and from looking around this forum it looks there is a few of us. I found this a bit strange because when I booked the wedding in February, I was told they only do two a day, oh well. It is a big resort and I am sure they know what they can handle. As for the prices, our guests are paying $1546 tax included from Calgary through signature vacations. So the prices you were quoted seem really good, I imagine travel is cheaper from Toronto. As for the photographer, that is the one job I left to my fiancé, so I am not sure what he has decided yet. I hope this helps, and looks like Dec 10th will be a big day for a few of us, happy planning.
  11. Hello, I have booked my wedding at the GRP for Dec 2009. I also, had to copy my card, and yes I thought it was a bit excessive. I did through my TA and she didn't think there was anything to worry about. I haven't had any problems because and my TA has booked a few weddings with them in the past and no one has reported any issues.
  12. Hi Kris, Your invites are great! That is exactly what I have been trying to create for the last 2 weeks I can't even seem to find any good graphics. Who is this Shelyn, I think I need one of those. I am in Calgary too, please help.
