  1. to everyone that cannot open the attachments. It is likely due to not having enough points to open the attachments. On our wedding website I have made a "things to do In Mayan Riviera" which you are all welcome to use for yourself. R & R Wedding Not sure if it will help but enjoy! Happy planning. If the link does not work then go to the web and search for whateverblondie and it will be the first one (Rachelle Cadieux) but you will have to do the forward slash (/) and then type wedding.

Then each tour operator has their policies- beleive me these all differ greatly also. Now add to that- the time of year the group is traveling- general rule of thumb- high season stricter polices, less discount; low season policies a little more lenient, discounts a little higher. Size of group - to most resorts a large group usually starts with 100 rooms- anything smaller is a small to mid size group. Large groups = greater amenities and perks. Amount of nights - a 3 night stay + less perks & pricing discount compared to full group 7 night stay. Now we add in the difference between USA & Canada - tour operators operate completely different. I know it probably didn't really clarify anything but hopefully explained why each person has a different answer! thanks for clarifying that. It does help out with understanding how things work in the travel industry. Unfortunately I am still unsure of what to do. My FI says to let everyone deal with it on their own but since we have some people from far away they seem to want some indication of confirmed rooms. Thank you though, I think you have probably really helped some of us out.

A beach reception does sound nice but based on reviews from brides that used the beach it can be windy and difficult to eat a meal out there. Looking forward to when they post the resort layout. Should be soon I hope! How excited are you!?

I'm sure all is ok and hopefully my TA is on top of it, lol. We have done the exact same thing. Made some minor changes, signed it and emailed it back to Claudia. Ana has sent an email saying she has the file but has not confirmed our date. I am a little worried too but cross our fingers it will all work out well. Pictures on Facebook will be posted soon! I love Wednesday's (well for you all it is Tuesday but in Australia they release the photos on my wednesday!). SDBeachgirl - That does suck about there being more than one wedding a day. I would assume that they would have them at different times but the resort is not THAT big. It is hard to pick the locations for the reception because not sure how many people we will have and the options. Does anyone know the reception options for this resort in specific?
  5. Just read on Facebook that they can accommodate more than one wedding in a day but did not say exactly how many is the max in one day. I posted the question there hopefully Rod will answer soon. Will let you all know if he says anything.

Not sure if this will be the case for DRC. If anyone knows for certain please pass along the info.

It makes me doubt the resort, if it is such a challenge just to reserve the date. What has your experience been like? Hi Ashly, I know this post is not directed to me but I thought I would answer as well. Ana is new to the resort and only started a few days ago. All the wedding files that have been accumulating for the new resort were being processed by the WC at the Dreams Cancun resort. Needless to say I think they were run off their feet and so Ana is now coming into a storm of emails. Having said this, I think the delay in communication from the WC overall (in Mexico at least) is commonly slllooooowwww.........grrr...I know. Be patient. I can imagine that Ana will be quite busy but have faith, I think no matter which resort you chose, if it is popular like all the Dreams Resorts, I think initial correspondence will be slow. Not likely what you wanted to hear but better to know up front. Good luck with your planning!

Since our date is still a bit away we are going to wait and do a re-quote from our TA and hopefully the price will reduce a little.

It was kind of nerve wracking waiting so long but it was also kind of fun. May not be what most brides would consider doing, but we are going to keep an eye on prices and hold out for a while. Which resort are you going to? We are going to the new Dreams Riviera Cancun Resort that is scheduled to open early Oct 2009. There is a lot of hype around the resort opening so I figure that maybe right now the hype is driving up the cost a little. Should be lower in a little bit considering our wedding is in June 2010. Still not sure what to do with regards to group booking or not. Our guests are travelling from Canada, US, Australia and New Zealand....who said destination weddings are easier to plan? hehe

In fact I had been told that Photography and DJ are the two vendors that you can bring in. Wonder if you can only bring in one from a list they provide though?

  13. I just sent my signed contract in to Claudia yesterday, hope everything will be okay with the transition. I am sure they are all very competent but being so far away from the action makes me a little worried...plus, I have already done (and am sending out) the STD/invites and I hope the date will not need to be changed...

Do the May brides have a group room rate that they can share? I'd like to get an idea of group price. BookIt.com has some amazing deals right now on airfare and accommodations. Thanks! All I can say about the WC is to be patient. Apparently she (Claudia - who actually is the WC for the Dreams Cancun site) just returned from holidays. Claudia still has yet to reply to my email from over 12 days ago and I only found out yesterday that she had been on holidays. We too are planning to have at least 40 guests but sorry that I cannot provide you any info on our group travel prices as we are in Canadian prices and departure gates. What we were quoted was about $2100 CAD Per Person incl tax for the one week all-inclusive for the last bit of May 2010.

Although I know there will likely be more than just my wedding on the day of I also would like to think the groups will not be tripping over one another. This resort is not as big as say, the Gran Bahia, or Barcelo...there is a lot of hype around the resort which probably will really help to work out the kinks quickly.

Will do that tomorrow, even if I have to go to an internet cafe. Do you have any info on the resort layout and the wedding/reception location options? That is going to be so fabulous that you will try out the plunge pool. Take loads of pictures! Everyone will be so excited to see them!
  17. I feel like an obsessive forum comment poster! hehe... A question for those that received their wedding contract. Obviously there is a spot to sign the contract but how did you get it back to Claudia (or the WC)? Thanks!

We actually just sent in our payment via bank check. I just wanted to get it taken care of and cross that off of the list. That is great you will be doing a site visit right after it opens. I wish we could too but we moved to Australia (from Vancouver Canada) for an undetermined length of time in March this year and will be here until at least May of 2010. May try to get my sister to go and check it out though. I hear they offer reduced rates for people doing a site visit. Did you get a discounted rate for the site visit?

My parents are travel agents and they told me to consider the new Dreams Riviera. I am so happy this thread was started! I emailed Claudia this past week in hopes to get some pics. It makes me feel better that others have picked this resort even with it still being constructed! Thanks for the feedback from your parents suggestion about Dreams. From what I read they are a good resort chain and this new resort should meet and exceed all our expectations. If you are on Facebook they have a Dreams Riviera Cancun page where they post pics on a weekly basis (every Tuesday) until it opens. There are lots of people asking questions about the resort and you may find some answers there.

I have sent an email to Claudia but waiting to hear (I know she is incredibly busy so I am being patient).
  21. mmontgo, looks like you and I were creating a new thread at the same time; Great minds think alike apparently! :-) That sucks that the old thread is gone but maybe a new one is better anyway...took a few pages in the last thread to get to more of the questions/answers. The thread I started has the resort link and the facebook info. Also, I have tried to start a section where we can list the dates of each bride once they have booked. Feel free to add your date too! You too SDBeachgirl
  22. Hello all... For those of you looking for a resort the Dreams Resorts are opening a brand new Dreams in the Riviera Cancun area. It is a 5-star luxury family resort approx 20 minutes from the Cancun airport and conveniently located between Cancun and Playa Del Carmen. The scheduled opening date is October 2009 and apparently they are on track for opening on time. Here is the website link for the new resort http://www.dreamsresorts.com/drerc/ The planning process has been a bit teadiuous up to this point but this should change very soon. So, if you have been trying to get info from the WC please try to read through our posts or post your own question because the WC(s) is/are flat out busy (poor Claudia & Cecelia). Currently Dreams is using the WC from the Dreams Cancun location to help out with the weddings at Dreams Riviera Cancun (DRC). It may take some time in receiving a reply on emails so be patient and like I said, use us here as a resource tool; it is likely we are all asking the same questions. There are a few of us that have booked our wedding dates so let's introduce ourselves and share our wedding dates. Please feel free to send a PM or post your date directly to the thread and I will do my best to keep it updated. Who are you and what is your wedding date? 1. Rachelle & Randal June 3, 2010

I am happy to start a new thread which is actually good I think because since we know lots more now we can start it off with more info. Keep an eye out for it in the next day. Looking forward to bringing all us DRC brides together.
  24. I may be going crazy, or have just not found it...the thread for the "Dreams Riviera Cancun - New Thread, Brides Post Here" (something like that). Anyway, does anyone know where that thread went? I was a subscriber to the thread and it is not even in my Subscribe List anymore...? There were a bunch of Dreams Riviera Cancun threads in the forum and some have been combined but I do not see the one that was the active thread for the DRC. Help? Thanks!
  25. that sounds so nice! NMOREAU have you decided if you will be doing the Mayan ceremony? I know there are some resorts that offer it as an option within their wedding packages but cannot recall which resorts.
