  1. Sorry one more question...what's the deal with centerpieces? Are they already provided or do I need to bring my own? Something else I asked Jacy, but as we know it takes her awhile to respond so thought I would see if anyone has insight on this.
  2. Ginalyn, Thank you for your answers! My girlfriend who is a stylist is now going to do both my hair and make-up so hopefully we'll get some sort of credit since I'm not using these and they are in our package. Regarding the DJ, did you happen to get his/her card? I want to be in touch with them prior to our trip. I emailed Jacy Tuesday asking her this as well.....thanks!
  3. My fiance and I were planning on doing a civil ceremony, but now have decided to go with the symbolic ceremony and get married here in the states first. We would like my cousin to perform the symbolic ceremony in Mexico. Does anyone know the rules with this? Do we have to have him become ordained or no? I would think not, since it's just a symbolic ceremony but I wanted to check with you ladies first to see if anyone has had similiar situations. By the way, I emailed Jacy on Tuesday w/ a bunch of questions. I'll relay the info to you as soon as I have it. The more we have to work with the better right?!

Oh, and I'll post pics when I get them...I didn't use the resort photog but if I can get the non-pro from my friends and family together I'll post those!! Congratulations!! =)

  6. Hi all! I'm getting married this November in Riviera Maya...my fiance and I are pretty set on the valentin for the honeymoon. Now we're trying to decide which room category to stay in. The pricing tends to vary quite a bit from what we've been quoted. For those of you who have been there, what room category did you stay in? Any advice is appreciated. TIA!!!

The next time I email Jacy, I'll ask her about the chairs....I'll post on here what I find out! =)

We did welcome bags and had them delivered to each room. We didn't have a DJ, but just used an i-pod. There wasn't all that much difference in cost between the DJ and renting the sound system, but my niece figured since she had already downloaded all the songs she wanted anyway, there wasn't much point in getting the DJ. She said if she had known that it wasn't that much more to get a DJ; then she would have done that. I think it was $130/hr for the sound system and maybe $150/hr for the DJ. If you could ask your niece that would be great!! Do you know if she had a trial (for makeup) prior? That's great about the welcome bags....I know some places won't be bothered with delivering them to each room. It's good to hear Dreams isn't like that!! Thanks for your answers!!
  9. Sorry another question.... The chair covers for the ceremony. I read after the first 20, we are charged for them. Anyone know how much? Are the chairs bad without covers? Same question for the reception. Or are the chairs not covered for the reception? I'm not sure what they even look like to begin with. Thanks again!!!
  10. Hi ladies, I have to apologize as I have been missing....busy with work and helping others plan their weddings, that I've neglected my own!! Since I am less than 5 months out, I'm getting back in the swing of things.... so I have a few questions... 1. Has anyone had their make-up done by the spa? Results? Do they do trials? Does it cost extra? My good friend (also my stylist) will be at the wedding so is doing my hair, my mom, soon to be mother in law and girls' standing up so I think we have the hair thing covered, but we all might want to get make-up done. At least I do!! Is this part of the package? Anyone remember? I feel like hair and make-up was...I'm wondering if so, if I could swap the hair for a make-up trial. If it even is part of the package. 2. Anyone do welcome bags? Are they accomodating with keeping the bags at the front desk and giving them to guests as they arrive? 3. Any feedback on DJs? We have 54 people booked so far so we need a DJ for sure!! TIA!!!

Great idea---I love the leather capri sandals in Metallic Ice from J.Crew...maybe I'll do this as a gift to my girls. Obviously something they can wear later!! THANK YOU! I have no idea why I didn't think to look there!

Wedding Flip Flops | Bridesmaid Flip Flops | 50+ Colors: The Dessy Group This is a great website---I like the flip flop options for the guys too--maybe a good option for the groomsmen (as part of their gifts)?! Thanks for the recommendation!
  14. Has anyone ever stayed at the Valentin? This is what we are thinking of for our honeymoon, but I am really interested to see if people have stayed there and what room category they were in? There are so many options...and we want to save money, but at the same time it is our honeymoon you know?! Any info is appreciated-thanks ladies!
  15. Okay on a side note from DPA--has anyone been to the valentin in riviera maya? We are debating going on our honeymoon there? I've heard excellent feedback, but I am wondering about the room options...there are a million and I just am curious if anyone has been there, what room they stayed in and what they thought. We are trying to save money, but at the same time it is our honeymoon so we are trying to find a happy medium you know?! Thanks, you girls are awesome!!!
  16. What are you ladies doing about shoes for the ceremony? I foundmy dress last weekend---YAY!!! And it just hits the floor so I definitely can't do heels. I am in between barefoot, a flat flip flop or ballet slipper of some type... My girls' dresses are fairly casual--j.crew--very light--so we're going to start looking for them too but I am thinking maybe a dressier flip flop in silver?
  17. Does anyone have a listing of spa services and prices that DPA offers? TIA!!!

Any other DPA brides around that time? Welcome to the board!! I am getting married at DPA on November 6th, 09....not too long before you. =)

So it was less expensive than the recent one she sent and there was no charge for alcohol. I intend to f/u with her and will let you all know Thanks you so much for this!!! I haven't asked Jacy about a welcome dinner yet, but is on my things to do list. I love this menu as well....the one thing I am confused about is, is there an extra charge (18 per person) regardless of if that is just if it is any one of the ala carte restaurants? Do you know if we can go with this menu and not have it in one of those restaurants and if so, where would we have it? TIA!!! On a side note, I have a friend of a friend who is getting married in May (my wedding isn't until November) so I should have some good insight when she gets back as well (my friend is attending her wedding)! I also visited this resort in December when my fiance and I were deciding on places for our wedding so if anyone has questions I am happy to try to help. I have been traveling a lot for work so haven't been on this board as much lately, but I'll try to get on more.

We have definitely thrown a curve ball at our friends and family (and ourselves!). This doesn't leave much time for planning and I am in full-fledged freak-out mode. I initially wasn't planning on getting married at DPA but my FI did some research and is set on getting married there! We put in a request for June 20 or June 19 2009. How long did it take for you to get response back from the WC about your wedding date? Also, does anyone know if we can book the resort photographer for TTD? Thanks so much ladies! It took about 2 days for Jacy to email me back that my date was available. Then she will send you info to fill out and email back to her to hold your date. After I filled out the forms and sent her the $500 deposit, I heard back the same day that she had received everything. Good Luck!!
