  2. Hello ladies, I just wanted to say thanks!! We were really pleased with our pictures and flowers. The Moon Palace photographer did a great job, and the Moon Palace has beautiful flowers to choose from. Jodymichelle: we didn't have quite as much time as you to plan. But that just means you have lots of time to pick out wedding dress and shoes, bridesmaids dresses, work on invitations, save the date cards etc. And this forum is great, you should get lots of good ideas from here. I didn't find this forum until less than a month before we left. I thought I attached the menus in a previous post But here it is again. Good luck! Sarah CORPORATE MENUS.doc
  3. Hello Ladies, Jodimichelle: you were asking about flowers? I had a beautiful real flower stargazers plus white roses bouquet. My bridesmaids bouquet was very similar just plain white lily's and red roses. soccergurl3: I will try to answer some of your questions... 1. I heard that getting out of the airport can be a disaster, where did you get your transfers from....is it worth it just to take a cab? we traveled with air canada vacations and they arranged travel for us. There was an aircanada representative waiting outside for us. My recommendation is walk through the airport. Ignore all the side booths, walk straight outside and look for your travel representative. who will be waiting for you directly outside the airport. 2.Also which side of the resort would you recommend, Nizuc or Sunrise?and Why? Both sides are good. Its a large resort. So stay on the sunrise side if you want to be close to the disco and the main larger sunrise lobby. If you want to be close to the wedding gazebos then I would stay ont the Nizuc side. Our guests were all in Nizuc side. Quetzal building which had a great view of the ocean overlooking the tucan gazebo where we got married. 3. I have been on trip advisor and expedia everyday and it seems that there have been alot more complaints then good things. People complain all the time about how bad the beach is, is it really that bad? The beach is not that bad. There is seaweed but they clean it up. I wouldn't worry about it. Here are some beach pictures. I think they turned out beautifully. We didn't get married on the beach. But I did see them setting up for one when we were down there and it looked nice. 4. Also I wanted to do some group tours that everyone would like. Which ones would you recommend? Which ones are day trips as oppose to just a couple hours? We did chichen itza (all day trip) It was very interesting. but a very long day it leaves early in the morning and doesn't get back until 7 or 8. Bring water and snacks. It is definitely worth the trip. We also did paradise snorkling it is a day trip as well, but also worth it. Some of our guests did the Isla Majures trip it was an all day thing too. They enjoyed it. FOr an afternoon we took the shuttle bus into Cancun. 5. I also heard that if you sit through the timeshare presentation that they reward you with spa packages and golfing...is this true? Did any of you sit through the presentation? we didn't sit through the presentation. We didn't think it was worth it. 6. And lastly for the reception we are having only 20 people and we are having a seated dinner. I noticed that for most of the buffets and seated dinners you need a minimum of 40 people to have those meals. Our wedding cordinator basically said to pick on appetizer, main course and dessert....I think that that is pretty plain for spending $400.00 per table. Are there any brides that had a reception where they were under 40 people, what did you go with. we had the international hor dourves for the cocktail reception. And Spanish buffet for our private reception. The Spanish buffet says for minimum 40 people but we only had 28 guests. This was not a problem for us. Hopefully this was helpful. Sarah

(I think for 2 hours the price is $200) They gave us a dj to play our cds, which was nice I'm glad we didn't pay extra for the dj. The price for the dj would have been $1100 for 4 hours and $750 for 2 hours. Something like that. I wouldn't spend the extra money. Sarah

Miami told me that the round tables are the only ones that are "included" - but I've seen a couple brides on here with long tables. I have a beautiful long table design but I need to know if going forward with that design is going to cost me beaucoup when I get to the resort. Most hotels offer both ... just curious what MP did. Ashrose: We had a rectangular table for us. And four round tables set up for our guests. This is the way they set it up for us and was included. From what I understood the price $400 was per 10 guests and it didn't matter how many people were at each table. We had 28 guests, they set up four tables of 7 guests. I don't know about long tables but I don't see that being a problem. Hope this helps. TinaM2Be: We used cds. But I think Ipod set up would be pretty much the same. They had a couple speakers and it sounded great. HaleGrifa: Our wedding was on New Years Eve. We definitely miss it and wish we were back. All of our guests feel the same way. Thats so cool that you're going back for your 1 year anniversary. We want to go back eventually too. Just too many other places we want to see first. GREAT PICTURES! You look beautiful! Sarah

Then used the mountain icon to insert pictures. You need the IMG code. I hope this is helpful! Congratulations on your wedding I'm sure it was beautiful. By the way, I thought your "on the other side" comment was hilarious thats excactly how I felt. Sarah

  8. TinaM2b, I thought I would add more details to my review. I hope this answers your question. Wedding Coordinator: Our wedding coordinator was Nancy Ariza. She did an excellent job once we were there. As I mentioned before we didn't really hear a thing from her until 2 weeks before the wedding which was extremely frustrating. And she said she didn't get our emails about a private function. But once we were there during our meeting she ended up getting everything we asked for. And the wedding day was perfect. Photographs and video: We had the deluxe package. On top of that we wanted to upgrade the photo package to the superior package which included 2 hours of reception and also the photographer came to my room while me and my bridesmaids were getting ready. It also included a cd of all the pictures the photographer took. We also upgraded the videographer to include 2 hours of reception. The dvd was really nicely done. It has a main menu with the option of watching the ceremony, the picture session or the reception. Of all the things we paid extra for I think the dvd was definitely worth it. Ours turned out so nice. Music: At the cocktail party we wanted to hire the mariachi band. We thought this would be included in the deluxe package. We thought if we played a cd during the ceremony that we could use the live music included in the deluxe package at the cocktail party. However this was not the case the deluxe package live music is only for the ceremony. So we ended up using the classical duet (which was a guitar and clarinet) at the ceremony. And we paid extra for the mariachi at the cocktail party. Both were great. The classical duet was really beautiful at the ceremony, we were glad we didn't go with a cd of music. And the mariachi band was really great. For music at the private reception we got the equipment to play our own cds. we did not pay the extra for a dj. We were glad because the guy that set up the equipment stayed and acted as a dj for us anyway. Flowers: My bouquet and grooms boutonniere were included in the deluxe package. And the flowers were beautiful. I loved my bouquet. We decided to pay extra for the bridesmaids bouquet and groomsmens boutonniere as well. Which were also really nice. The flowers are really beautiful. Two table top flowers are included with the deluxe package. These are also really nice and there are 2 or 3 options to choose from. Decorations: The only extra we got was 4 small flower centerpieces one for each table. They brought the flower arrangements from the ceremony to put on the cake table. They decorated both the cocktail party and private function with white table cloths white napkins and white folding chairs which was included. Spa: The deluxe package included massage for the bride and groom. This was absolutely fantastic. We had this done the day before the wedding which was really nice. The package also included a manicure and pedicure for me. So I bought my bridesmaids a manicure and pedicure as well and we all got this done the evening before the wedding which turned into a girls night out before the wedding. They did a really good job with the manicure and pedicure. My nails looked great. Hair and Makeup: My hair looked great. I picked a picture in a book that I wanted and my hair looked exactly like the picture. They do a really great job. The Makeup was also really great. I thought they did a great job. I don't usually wear makeup, I just told them I wanted to look natural, and I did. It was exactly what I wanted. Us and all of our guests were so impressed with the moon palace. They really try to give you everything you want. So I think its safe to say that they will give you the wedding of your dreams. They definitely gave me mine Sarah

  10. Hi Ladies, We wanted the DVD of the reception. We just thought it would be nice since no one had a video camera. And we wanted to remember the speeches and dances. We really like having the reception on video. It's nice for showing our friends and family who couldn't make it on the day. I think it was something like $160 usd for each extra hour. But I'm not sure if that’s exactly right. I've attached everything that they emailed me 2 weeks before we left. It’s a lot of info. I hope this helps some of you with your planning. 12. Here are some pics. The Carriage Ride The ceremony Tucan Gazebo On the beach The rings The cocktail party on the Venado terrace The dance tucan terrace
  13. Shires: Congratulations! I wouldn't worry about it. My hair and makeup were finnished at about 9:45. I had to wait til about 10:15 for the flower to be put in my hair. But if you have that planned with your coordinator ahead of time you should be finnished by 9:45. Even though by the time me and my bridesmaids got back to the room it was already 10:20 and my dad and the carriage was picking me up at 10:30. We didn't feel rushed. We were dressed by 10:30 just in time for the photographer to take pictures and then we were on our way. You should have plenty of time.
  14. Hi everyone I posted this review as a new thread but also thaught I would post it here. I hope this is helpful. I just got back on saturday and had a great trip. Here 's my review. I got married at the Moon Palace golf and Spa resort near Cancun on Dec 31st. It was amazing!!! I would recommend this resort to anyone. And would definitely go back. I will try to post a couple pictures later. Review of the Moon Palace: We had 28 guests from age 7 months to age 82. They all had a great time for the week at the moon palace. Some people just stayed at the resort and had a great time. Others did the tours. We did Chitchen Itza, I would recommend it it is definitely worth seeing. (it is a 2 hour bus ride each way, bring drinks from the mini bar) We also did Paradise snorkeling, which I would also recommend I've never snorkeled before but would definitely do it again. A few people in our group also did the Isla Mujeres tour and said it was worth it. At the resort there is sailing and kayaking which some people in our group did. And also the nightly entertainment. I enjoyed the Michael Jackson show and the Pirate show. Everyone had a great week. The rooms were very nice and clean. The jacuzzi in the room is a very nice touch. Our room had a great view of the ocean. And so did our guests who were in a different building. We were all in the nizuc side and it seemed like most buildings had a view of the ocean. I read reviews on trip advisor that said the seaweed was a problem on the beach. I disagree there was seaweed, but this was not a problem. They clean it up as best they can. And no one in our group complained about this once. (And in my opinion, yes the beach in cancun at the beach palace has beautiful turquoise water and no seaweed but there is not much of a beach! it is one hotel after the other. At the moon palace the beach stretches on and on, no hotels on either side) It was full to capacity when we were there during the new years week. But it didn't feel crowded and there wasn't much of a wait at most restaurants. The food at all of the restaurants was good. We liked Aricifes(Nizuc lobby) and my favorite was the asian restaurant at the golf club. Now for the info I know everyone wants. The wedding stuff. Meeting with wedding coordinator The meeting with the wedding coordinator was on the day after we arrived. It took about 2 hours to make all the decisions on flowers etc. We knew what we wanted ahead of time so we thought it would go pretty quick. We ran in to a bit of a snag... when she said she didn't get our email that said we wanted a private reception and because it was new years eve this was not possible! ( we had emailed her several times starting 2 months before and never heard back!) So when she said this I was very upset. But it worked out in the end. She finally agreed that we could have the reception if it started at 4 instead of 6 (which turned out to be a blessing because there wasn't a long break in between the cocktail and reception, and also the pictures during the speeches was still sunny and the sun was setting during the final few speeches which made for really nice pics). I'm telling you this not so that you will all get upset and think that you will not get everything you planned. I am mentioning this so that you can relax. They honestly will give you everything you want. They don't email back which is frustrating, but they will work everything out once you get there. Our day was new years eve, so it was special circumstances and they still gave us everything we wanted. Welcome dinner: Was at Aricifes restaurant in the nizuc lobby. Another slight problem.... somehow our reservation was lost. I don't know how, but I don't think this is common. I would just recommend that on the day of your welcome dinner go early and wait in line and make sure that your close to the front of the line so that if they do somehow lose your reservation like ours you will still get in. It wasn't quite what we wanted but it still worked out because we were at the front of the line we got 3 tables for all of us close together without any problem. And after we told the wedding coordinater the next day they lost our reservation we got to have a farewell dinner at the barracuda restaurant next to the sunrise pool. Which was great. Wedding day: Was wonderful! Absolutely wonderful! Hair appointments 8 am (they opened the salons early for us the salon representative Reyna Nuñez Olivera was extremely helpful) My hair looked great. I wanted half up half down so it would get to frizzy in the humidity They did a great job. I would recommend if you know that you want a flower in your hair ahead of time make sure you tell your wedding coordinater at the meeting. I eventually got a flower, but it was difficult. 11 am wedding ceremony at tucan gazebo. Beautiful. We did unity candle ceremony which was no problem (only difficult to light candles with the breeze off the ocean. ) Oh and definitely do the horse and carriage. Our guests said it was an amazing entrance. Pictures then 12- 2 cocktail party with mariachi band. I would recommend this. Our guests loved the mariachi. the cocktail was on the venado terrace which is close to the tucan gazebo. Then reception from 4 til 9. on the tucan terrace. And we had the photographer come back for our speeches and first dance and cake cutting etc. I would recommend this, we got the upgraded photo package (superior package I think) which included 2 hours of reception. Then we all went to the new years eve ball to celebrate New Years. Pictures and dvd: The photographer was great. The pictures turned out great and the dvd was also really good. We got the whole ceremony on video and also the picture session. Then the reception is also all on the dvd. If you're worried about using the resort photographer, don't be. Our pictures are wonderful and you get to have a cd of every picture he takes. All in all it was a fantastic wedding and a great week. I hope this review is helpful.
