  1. For the dress...J Crew has a ton of fun party dresses and you can get most of them in ivory and they have a huge selection that changes all the time. Good luck!!!!
  2. We just got married on the Papagayo Penninsula in Guantacaste...it was unbelievable. We did it through the Four Seasons and they took care of everything. Married on the beach, rehearsal dinner on the beach, reception in the Presidential Suite, A-M-A-Z-I-N-G and reasonable. If you go through the New York Sales Office you can get lower room rates and request Julia Giannini as your coordinator, she was perfect. Here's a link to our pics....I wouldn't trade the experience for anything in the world. Not to mention everyone there was sooooo nice. It really was great. http://www.jc2photo.com/darkroom/sha...ideshow0000jpg
  3. Maybe they'll look better the more she makes...that could have been the experimental one There are some people who might think they are really great, and the shower is very much about someone else doing something for you and her time and effort may be her way of showing how much she loves and cares about you. What are you really worried about? Not everything will go according to plan and sometimes, it's the things that don't go as planned that have the best unintended consequences...
  4. Hi All, I just want to recommend our photographer to anyone looking for one. We were just going to have the hotel do pictures, but my best friend recommended him (he shot her wedding). The whole picking a photographer thing was so overwhelming. Throughout everything, he was in Houston and we were in DC, but he was really responsive to our questions, and really reassuring about everything. Not to mention 2 weeks before the wedding we had to switch countries and he was great about all of the changes too. As soon as he arrived in Costa Rica, he met us on the golf course and started taking pictures. He took so many pictures, my dad put away his camera. It was so cool the way he would take some pictures we thought, "What in the world is he doing??" but they turned out incredible. We are so happy we had him and now we have the memories forever. Here's a link to the slideshow he made of our pics http://www.jc2photo.com/darkroom/share/?n=darcieandsam (We got back on Thursday and had a reception on Saturday and he prepared this for the reception so we could show everyone our wedding pictures..it was so nice). Also, he was really easy to get along with, got along with all the guests and they really loved him. So if you're looking for someone, I recommend Joe Cogliandro, his website is Houston Wedding Photography | Destination Wedding Photography | International Award Winning Photographers | J Cogliandro Photographers If you have questions, I'd be happy to answer them!! -Darcie Brooks Costa Rica 11/11/2008

We did everything through the Nevis office and they gave us a CONSIDERABLE break on the room rate with a guarantee of a certain number of rooms and revenues from food (our break was about 40%, but it all depends on the property, season, etc). The room guarantee was very easy for us to hit and we went over and it was no problem, and the food guarantee we got to alone from the rehearsal dinner and the reception. It is probably going to end up being more than a regular hotel rate, but some have all inclusive food plans (Nevis did) where you pay a flat rate and that covers your food for the day (Costa Rica didn't). But all in all, for the service and the place you end up, it is a bargain. Also, the planner was so great at both that we just didn't worry about the wedding at all which made it really nice not to stress over the flowers, decorations, etc. Since it was a Four Seasons, we knew it would look fantastic and taste great.
  6. My husband Sam and I got married in Costa Rica last minute after our long planned wedding in Nevis got moved due to Hurricane Omar (wedding was November 11th, made all of the changes October 18 and on). The wedding was unbelievable. The staff (particulary Julia Giannini) made this a dream wedding, and more than a dream wedding, it was more beautiful and more perfect than we could have EVER imagined. 2 weeks later and we can't stop smiling. Thank goodness our photographer took a million pictures. He was fantastic as well. Joe Cogliandro from Houston, Texas. We live in DC, but he came down and took some incredible photos for us to always remember the trip. Fit in really well with all the guests (There were only 23 of us) and took some of the most beautiful pictures I have ever seen. If interested, let me know and I'll send you a link to the pics. It was all just pretty stress free, my recommendation, Four Seasons hotel and Joe Cogliandro, photographer. Then you don't have to worry about anything It was truly magical. -Darcie Brooks
