Viki, that dress is gorgeous on you! I saw your post on another thread about doing a ttd in it as well - I say go for it! Mine is even pouffier (ballgown-ish) and I think I might just do it as well

I am not getting my parents gifts on our wedding day, for a couple of reasons. First, we are paying for and planning the whole thing ourselves. Second, we are actually subsidizing the cost of their travel (otherwise they couldn't afford to come). Third, I just don't understand the logic in it

It's your wedding, there are no rules that you have to follow - do whatever makes you happy! I had my girls pick their own too, I only asked that the dresses be in the wedding colour (dark fuschia). They found something they all love and will wear again. When you're asking your girls to dish out so much cash to even come to your wedding, I think it's important to at least have them like what they will be wearing

I will be paying for the BM dresses, and giving them all the starfish pendant necklace from Tiffany's. I am also giving a Tiffany pendant to a close girlfriend who is not in the bridal party, because she has insisted on doing hair and makeup for the whole wedding party! I think they are just going to die when they see them - we're in Canada and Tiffany jewelry is EXTREMELY uncommon here.

We went with a local photog, and are only paying for her travel (so she can build her portofolio). She has tons of experience with different types of photography, but none with destination weddings... so it is a bit of a risk. BUT she is photographing the whole week, not just the wedding...and we're doing a TTD, for free. So I think its' worth the risk...based on all of her other photographs, which I've seen and which are AMAZNIG!! I'll give you her contact info if you're interested (but I understand that not everyone is willing to take that kind of chance, she is amazing though!)
