Hi Ladies,
Some of you may remember my posts freaking out about my dress, worrying that it was too big or heavy for a beach wedding. It is Brielle by Maggie Sottero:
I love the dress so much, but I couldn't stop worrying that it would be too hot, or that I would drown doing my TTD! lol So anyway I found a second dress, also a Maggie, on EBay for $250!!! I am so excited! It is much more beachy. I'm still wearing my ballgown for the ceremony, but now I will have this one as a "just in case", so I can change into it for the reception and/or the TTD if I get too hot or if I change my mind about trashing the ballgown (which I still intend to do as of now!). It is Zoe by Maggie:
I can't believe I foud it for $250! It has never been worn (unfortunately her wedding was called off). I highly recommend checking out Ebay for dresses, wow
Anyway I'm super happy now, I think I got away with the best of both worlds, and I didn't have to pay full price for the second dress - just had to share!

I also think the Jr MOH idea is great! I had a similar issue with my two best friends, I just called them both MOHs.

I went with a traditional dress, because I absolutely fell in love with it and now cannot see myself saying "I do" in anything else. It is pretty big though:
after I bought it I started to freak a bit about how hot I would be, so I bought a second dress "just in case" - ie. just in case I get too hot, I can change into it for the reception - and just in case I decide that I don't want to trash the big, beautiful ballgown (which I intend to do as of now!) My second dress is also a Maggie, but I got it for $250 on ebay (never worn):

Be careful with group bookings - we did it, also supposedly got an "early booking bonus" - but rates for our resort dropped within months, and are now a full 7 hundred dollars cheaper per person!!! If we hadn't done the group booking we wouldall have paid substantially less. As it is many of our guests bowed out of the group booking, even forfeiting their deposits, and booked through expedia etc to save money. The people who booked early are totallyscrewed because they had to pay sooo much more than everyone else!

I think you can tell him the style of the dress without giving too much away, and most importantly, without ruining the suprise! For example, just telling him that you got a longer, more formal dress than you thought you would be getting would probably be enough information so that you guys could talk about his outfit, and he still would have no idea what your dress looks like. Most wedding dresses, after all, are long and formal!
My fiance knows that I have a ballgown silhouette, that it is a big/heavy dress, and that it is strapless. He's gone from there with his outfit and with the groomsmen's attire.
Good luck!

I love it - very beachy!

Hi and welcome from a fellow Majestic bride-to-be
-
Thanks so much everyone! As always, you've made me feel better Also, I actually called my seamstress, she is going to take out a few layers (I'll be wearing one of those hoopy things for the wedding itself so it will still have its shape), hopefully that will reduce the heat factor, and make it a little more managable in the water during the TTD. I'm still considering a second dress for the TTD and/or just in case I get too hot... but we'll see.

Hello Ladies!
I bought my dress in March, and had my first fitting this week - it is Brielle by Maggie Sottero (pics below). I'm now starting to freak out a bit about it, worrying that it is too big and heavy for a destination wedding. I'm worried I'll be so hot in it that it will ruin the wedding for me, and also that I will look silly in photos because it is so formal (the groomsmen are wearing linen pants and white linen shirts with sandals, etc). Also, I really want to do a TTD, and don't know whether this dress is appropriate for that. I have NO PROBLEM ruining the dress - that doesn't bother me. But I don't want the photoshoot to be ruined because the dress is too big/heavy/inappropriate. Please help!!! Should I buy a second dress, or is this one okay?? I love it so much but am soooo nervous now...
