  1. We went through the same thing! Most of our guests are flying from either Edmonton or Vancouver and it has been tough to keep in within reasonable prices. Initally I had told most of my guests maybe between $1500-1700 cdn. So far the prices we have been quoted have been between $1700-2000. We have a TA but we have also given our guests the option of booking through online travel sites since they do tend to be about $400-500 cheaper. But at the same time gave them the advantages of TA's.

I agree with Lara..just keep on doing your research..

  2. Ahhhh ....this makes me feel so much better!! Of course everyone in the beginning is soooo excited to come and are 'so for sure there!'. We had anticipated about 30 ppl to come join us but now the numbers sure are dwindling.

We just recently found out that our best man (whos wife was to be my personal hairstylist for the wedding party) are expecting something they were soooo not expecting LOL!, and the goomsman, who may not be able to go due to military obligations! And that was it for my fiances side of the wedding party! Im almost thinking that it may really just be us on that beach gazebo in ROR!

But we have decided, all that matters that we are both there to share our day!

I am soo glad that I can vent on here and hear simlilar stories!!

  3. Thanks Ladies! I absolutely love vistaprint!! We wished that the RSVPS were the actual ones but soooo much can happen in a year... A lot of the guests weren't sure if they could get the time off work, financial issues, and now it turns out our best man and his wife (my personal hairstylist) are expecting something unexpected!!! Due date...April 18th!

  4. Hello all,

I just wanted to share what I have made so far. As of Sept 13th, we will have been engaged for a year so far we have mailed out our STD letters/magnets/and informal RSVP postcards. We sent out about 90+ informal RSVP postcards but unfortunately we had only rec'd about 20% of them back AND they all had return stamps! Asides from that, I had a great time making them! A few of my guests actually didn't want to return them because they were so pretty! LOL! I have been frequenting this site for quite a while now so along the way I have gotten TONS of great ideas from you ladies! Please forgive me for I don't have names from those of you that have contributed to my STD's but if you see an idea that was yours thanks!!!! smile03.gif

Forgive me for the quality..LOL! No scanner!

These magnets I had ordered from Vistaprint. They are great! We actually had to change our original date and had to order a new batch of magnets! They always offer free stuff so reordering wasn't bad at all!

This was our letter...I just wanted to show the beautiful letterhead that Vistaprint had...So perfect for our theme!

These stickers I made on Zazzle. I still have yet to use them for something. I just thought that they were so appropriate for our theme..so I just went ahead and ordered them! LOL!

    hey there ladies!

We are getting married April 20, 2010 @ ROR as well. We will probably see ya there! We have yet to book our wedding/vacation and are working with a TA from Philly and one from BC for our Canadian guests. It's been somewhat challenging since we only rec'd about 30% of our postcard RSVPs back. I have given everyone the travel info but feedback hasn't been the greatest. Im almost afraid they are expecting ME to do all of it!

Photographer - we have been talking about using Micheal from the ROR to possibly doing our photos. But that is still under discussion with my FI and I.

Music- we have yet to inquire but my brother is a DJ so if the resort has the equipment we may just get my brother to do it. I have read a lot about ipods and such here and we may go that route as well. As for the actual ceremony we may just get the steel drums for that time or even possibly during the dinner reception.

Reception- We are still debating we may go for the private reception but we have also been discussing the poolside. Pool side right now is in the lead depending on how many people actually decide to come. It just looks a lot prettier! =)

So far that is all we know...my goal for our wedding...relaxin laid back stress free vacation! Too blessed to be stressed! LOL!
  6. LOL! yes us night shifters are truly a different breed! I have been doing this the past 7 yrs! I am fortunate enough to be able to sleep quite well during the day. With the help of earplugs, eye cover thingy and a black out shade for my room or course! Oh and it also helps that I live in the rainy northwest! I have don't have a family of my own yet so it works for me!

And if it's quiet I get a lot of BDW forum stuff in on my night shift! =)

  7. It seems that most of you ladies are from the east coast. Most of my guests are coming from the west (Vancouver and Edmonton) and I am having a hell of a time just trying to get the inital 10 to get the group rate. The main reason that I am using a TA is for the payment plans they offer but I am hearing, even from my immediate family , that most of my guests are just going to book through an online site, which are a alot cheaper. This is somewhat frustrating to me since we need to book our flight to obtain the confirmation code for the date and time of our wedding!! If worse came to worse I guess my FI and I will just book our trip to secure our wedding date. I would even opt to book online but the prices for our dates aren't out yet! Arrghhhh!!

We are going through flight center and I think the tour company is sunquest and here are the prices I was quoted a couple months ago.

Just wondering who you are using? Are they local? I am trying to find someone around the Seattle, WA state area that is familiar with JA?
    Thanks!
