  1. OMG it's only 19 days till we leave... looked all over for gift bags and have decided.. the stress of it is too much... it's just an extra.. unless I get a burst of energy.. not gonna stress over it..

Dress fitting is done and ready to go.. hoping they have a decent 'steamer' on site as not too excited about sending my dress off site to be steamed...

No cake here.. as we are the 'free package' no cake was included.. also I did some 'price checking'.. if you add all the extras in the Silver package (from the price sheet) and pay for the room upgrade... it's was still cheaper for us than the the Silver package... We needed 15 'room nights' which our parents (2 rooms 7 nights each) and our second week (honeymoon) help us meet that requirement..

So the idea of having everything prepaid a month in advance?? It would have been Jan 6th.. and Carolina still hasn't got back to us.. not sure when all the finally details will be settled (prior to leaving)

  2. I'm the free wedding too!! I figure who need all those extras as the decor is the fact you are on a beach with the ocean as your backdrop...

    Pier Update

I talked to a couple who were in EDSS just be fore New Years.. and he said the pier is being rebuilt.. SLOWLY... so they are working on it, but he said there is no way it would have been done by Dec 28th.. so I'll be lucky if it's done for my wedding....

I just hope they stop construction for my wedding ceremony lol..

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has a 'mini' freakout everytime someone mentions the wedding... Two weeks ago.. I would get overwhelmed.. last week.. I was excited.. this week.. I am getting stressed.. 24 days to go... WOW

Just wanted to point that out.
My resort EDSS was 3 business days you need to be in the country prior to the wedding.. although we arrive on Sat.. Monday (feb 2, 2009) is a Mexican holiday.. wait 3 days... the earliest we could get married was Friday Feb 6th. Our guests leave the next morning...
  5. Interesting note about WC...

I just got an email from another EDSS bride who said... Carolina is actually located in CANCUN! and has no ideas about the condition of the grounds, pier, etc... the on site co-ordinator that she had was named Vania..

She also indicated that printing off all your emails and taking them with is a VERY GOOD IDEA.. so you don't have to argue over details...

best go print out some emails.. :-)

  6. sensatori bride...

good idea!! i guess it depends on if planning is a pain?? or planning is fun!! for me once the wedding is done.. so it the stress and the reception is an all out party.. and so there isn' too much that will stress me out the day of the AHR... I'm excited about the first party as man and wife... and the extention of the wedding day.. and the on going party!!

  7. DRESS UPDATE!!

I found a dress just before Christmas.. but haven't had time to post...

I found it here in Regina.. perfect!! It was in the back ordered for someone else.. but wrong size (or something)... But very pricy (of course) about $1150 plus taxes YIKES!!!

So I memorized it.. noted the dress maker.. searched online and FOUND IT on EBAY!! haha.. You betcha.. a wedding store in the US going out of business . Same size, colour and all they wanted was.. $415USD.. so I came and cost $515 CND it is perfect.. but ended up being way to big... So with I have my dress fitting on Friday and I am SET!!!

It is Maggie Sorreto 'Raegan'.. I have pics at home.. will post them later tonight if I get the chance...

I am so excited.. I also ordered my veil off ebay.. (fist time user) for 1 cent (plus shipping) so it was $10cnd.. it hasn't arrived yet.. but I'm not worried...

hopefully I will get pics up tonight... :-)

  8. Nope.. I wouldn't.. I watched my parents get left out of my brothers wedding.. his bride was a total bag.. and my parents didn't have any idea what to do the day of the wedding and were to go since NO ONE TOLD THEM..

So for me.. I consider my wedding.. very much there wedding.. mind you my opinions and how I want things will rein supreme.. but not without some comprimizes...

My parents said they couldn't afford to come to my DW... So I had to decided how badly I wanted to be married on a beach.. Ultimately I wanted to be married in Mexico bad enough. that I am covering thier costs (with no guilt trip) and paying for all thier insurances, transfers and lots of extras (luggage, water shoes, etc).

As we are paying for our own wedding my parents costs are adding alot of $$ but for me it's worth it.

p.s. no one except immediate family knows I am covering thier costs.. cause it's a pride thing, as my DAD is 76 and is very much old fashion.. but I am happy I can give them this holiday...

  9. Yikes... this is a sticky one.. My FI and I are in our mid 30's it is our first wedding for both of us. We have been living together for 3 years and have all the household stuff.

Since planning our DW we decided to not sign up for a gift registray, since it kinda feels like, my FI and I go to a store and go on a shopping spree of a bunch of useless stuff that are 'nice to haves' but not really needed...

I have been asked a couple times , what do you need.. but how do you say.. 'cash to help pay for the wedding and the AHR' as we are paying for all our costs our selves...

SO to date, I have told people, get us whatever you like.. the choice is yours...

anyone else facing this issue... ?? kinda funny.. in a way.. but I don't want people to think we are being greedy...

  10. I spent 540US for mine.. I found the dress in a store here in Canada.. and they wanted 1150 plus tax.. Yikes.. so I 'googled' it and found the exact same dress in the US at a bridal store going out of business NWT. I was VERY happy.

I would search used pages for a TTD. Check out Kijiji in Calgary and you can get something for $100 I'm sure.. so wade around in the ocean in.. haha.. good luck

  11. tracy s - GREAT idea about the hair.. I think I will work on that the next couple weeks... so what I can come up with...

yeah the dress fitting is in a couple hours and there is a FULL OUT BLIZZARD going on outside.. haha.. kinda funny...

when I got engaged in Sept, I started going to the gym.. I have gone from trying on size 12-14 wedding dresses to having my size 10 having to be taken in cause the laces meet... So I wish I could have put my dress fitting off a bit longer... or gotten a size 8.. but if that's all I have to complain about LIFE ain't that bad.. haha..

I feel like a 'dork' saying I have a personal trainer.. but after a 2004 car accident I have spent a crap load of money on massage and chiro... (neck & upper back injury) and since hitting the gym bearly a penny... best $$ I have ever spent and it's only twice a week for 25mins.. and watching my food...

  12. my main details are... my hair.. I don't know what I'm doing.. I decided to not 'prebook' a spa appointment and will try and haggle a hairdo that day, otherwise, just do it myself... not like it has to last the entire day.. just a couple hours... but it is an unknown.. soooo.. a little stressfull... and my nails.. I may go into Playa and get them done there.. make it an adventure.. lol

I am trying to get some 'loot bags' together, for the rooms, giving them a timeschedule and some goodies ... placecards and small favours (I think wine stoppers, but haven't got them yet) for the supper 'table' and raffia fans for the guests to use.. in case I am running a little late on wedding day... so they don't overheat...

Right now I am going though details with the wedding coordinator for the meal.. I have asked for the meal to be in Mia Casa (the best restaurant by far on the resort IMO) and they are asking for me.. we are only a small party of 10 and we'll see.. only concern is the lighting is very dim.. which is great for atmosphere.. but not for photos.. oh well...

    Photographer

we are using Mexican Weddings.. we can't afford much, so I have a really reduced package... $578 I am really depending on family and friends to take good photos to supplement..

  13. I guess I didn't really think too much about it until people started asking me if I was having a shower.. and I just felt silly saying I don't know...

but thanks girls! I feel better.. I'll just get over it.. on the up side.. I go to my first dress fitting tonight!! I tried to include my MIL by asking if she wanted to come with.. she was so excited and said yes... but I found out from my FI she left town for the weekend.. lol.. I guess it in the end it's a win win... I asked and she forgot.. haha

  14. Ok.. this may sound silly.. but I have no one to plan a shower for me .. as typically the MOH does it.. and I don't have one!!

Our DW wedding is really small.. only about 8 people attending.. since we need 4 witnesses, my FI and I decided to just have our parents be our wintesses...

But now... we are getting married is just over a month.. and I haven't heard anything about a bridal shower...

I live about 2 1/2 hours from my home town.. and through the years have moved from city to city...job to job.. so I have LOTS of friends.. but no real super close girlfriends... I always just assumed my wedding shower would be in my hometown ... I asked my mom is anyone is planning anything and she said she hasn't heard. She feels bad.. but said, 'I am the Mom, I can't throw it'... I have no sisters, (just a sister in law... long story there.. voodoo.gif )

My in laws.. live across the street (I know I know.. everyboby loves Raymond.. I get the joke... rofl.gif) and I haven't heard anything from them either...

Sounds silly.. but... this kinda sucks.... I guess I just sit here.. and hope someone plans something?? or suck it up and get over it..
