I thought it might be useful if we share some ideas about how to make your wedding day less generic and instead include something different and special in the ceremony and reception. I'll start with a few simple ideas and I'm hoping we can build on it. 1. legalize the marriage at home or right before or after the ceremony, but have a friend or relative perform the brief symbolic ceremony - i've seen some videos of the typical legal ceremony: spanish first, translator, "this marriage is made legal by the 4 witnesses...", they name the witnesses and go on about how this is a legal requirement in mexico 2. write your own vows 3. slide show during the reception of baby photos, growing up, how we met, and the time leading to the wedding - this might be hard and $$$ to set up

Has anyone used Alex from Positive Photo Studios as their wedding photographer or videographer. His samples look good, but I'm hoping someone knows a bit more about him and his work. His prices seem fair. I have a list of prices if anyone is interested. Positive Photo Studio

Puerto Morelos, right between Cancun and Playa del Carmen 2 year old resort, nice looking resort, but very little infor on the weddings and it's been difficult communicating with the resort wedding coordinater

thanks my biggest worry is the reception, we are only have 13 guests booked so far, maybe a couple more will book, but i don't know whether to have a private reception on the beach or garden or to just make reservations at one of the a la carte restaurants. Music is the other big concern. Do we book a DJ $800 or do we pay $350 to rent a cd player and music and use our i-pod music. I think it's rediculous to pay so much $ for just renting a cd player, but is it lame to have a dj for such a small group, especially b/c we're serbian and would like mostly serbian music. Advice?

Anyone getting married or already married at this resort? I can't find any videos and very few photos of past weddings. I'm so frustrated and don't understand my options, especially for the reception. Hopefully there are a few other brides that I can chat with about this resort.

I'm getting married on March 12th, 2009 (leaving on the 7th). Yes, a month and a half away! My wedding planner can hardly speak English so when I send her questions she answers only one or two and usually I can only partially understand her response. If there is anyone who got married at Hotel Marina El Cid in Puerto Morelos PLEASE give me some insight into your experience. I've posted here in the past, but got no response. I hope someone has some information about weddings at this resort.

I'm probably going to get married at this resort in March 2009. I was going to book Sensatori Azul but it turns out that it's too expensive for some of my very important guests.

I'm so excited to find this forum. We are booked for March 8, 2009 departure. Don't have the wedding date yet.
