  1. I didn't have them embroidered. I just chanced it and ordered the whole box. I didn't see a place where you could order a sample. Everyone loved them - if you decide to get them make sure you let people know to save luggage room!
  2. They aren't the huge fluffy towels, but they are good quality for the price.
  3. Great, thanks ladies! I'm going to order them - can't beat the price. I'll report back when I get them in ;-)
  4. The whole link didn't post. The Cabana towels are the ones I'm looking at.
  5. Hi Ladies, I'm looking for quality beach towels, but don't want to spend a fortune. Any recommendations? I'd like to stay under $200 and I need to buy 26 towels. I found these: www.cottonfruit.com but can't tell how thick they are. Has anyone purchased beach towels that they like? Thanks! Katie
  6. IslamoradaBride, Debbie is great. She just did a wedding at the place where we are getting married and sent me pics to I could have a better idea of the set up. We didn't get to try the food when we were down there, but several people recommended and I read a few great reviews. Did you get to try the food? We still haven't picked all of our food. I'm also using Michelle de la Torre!
  7. FI and I ate at Marker 88 when we were on our scouting trip. Food and service were both great. WP and real estate agent both recommended Pierre's but they seem super expensive. Lazy Days was also recommended to us, they seem a little more laid back and less $$ - so it depends on how formal you want to be. I'd say Lazy Days might be better for rehearsal dinner. We did drive by Pierre's and it was my favorite as far as decor and beach - if you are getting married there too? We rented houses so we are having Caribbean Catering at our place.
  8. IslamoradaBride - who's your officiant? I'm still debating on music/entertainment for the evening. Have you found anything?
  9. I'm getting married in Islamorada Jan. 4th 2009. We have 4 houses on the Atlantic that sleep 28 - we have 21 adults and 5 kids, so we are pretty full. Here's the link - Freewheeler Realty Inc., Upper Florida Keys Real Estate Sales, Property Management & Vacation Rentals, Islamorada and Key Largo We went down this past March to check everything out and it was beautiful. It was hot during the day - 80's and cooler at night 60's. I would avoid hurricane season. I spoke to my WP after Ike to see how they were down there and she said she had to cancel a few weddings - no power. Good luck! I have most of my stuff planned and some pics so PM me.
  10. FI and I are both changing our names to his middle name. FI is not that close to his biological dad and his middle name is his maternal grandfather's name. I like that we are both changing - starting a new together. We've had some resistance from other family members though - not sure why?
  11. We vacationed in Puerto Vallarta two years ago. It was fantastic! Great food, great water. What a beautiful place to get married!
  12. I don't know how wide spread these are, but Hobby Lobby is having a 50% off sale thru 10/18 on all wedding items. I got unity candle (mom wants something religious since we aren't getting married in a church), flower girl baskets and the most adorable mints - "Mint to Be" on the front, tin shaped like bride and groom, heart shaped mints inside. .99 each.
  13. Is anyone waiting until they get to their destination to purchase items for the welcome bags? I already feel like I'm spending a fortune on shipping (we can fortunately ship stuff to our caterer). We are getting there are day before everyone else, but have a lot to do in that one day. The main thing I was thinking of purchasing there is beach towels - shipping 25 of them will be pricey!!
  14. Hey Ladies, I'm getting married Jan. 4th and am only having parents, sibs, and a few close friends. The people who are coming we can count on being there. I'm not doing invitations for the actual wedding as we are having a reception in our hometown (Cincinnati) when we get back and I'll have to send invites for that. We have place, cater, dress (though it still needs to be altered) linen suit for fiance. I went shopping with my mom today, but no luck. Good luck with your planning ;0
