  1. I signed up to online private sales to top brand name and designers... worse thing for me now. LOL.

I think I buy at least one new thing every day on one of the sites. But some of them are great deals. Got a Juicy purse for 90 regular 378, Fendi sunglasses for 79 regular 420, some clothing about 75% off. Most of the items can be last year's stock, overstock, etc. But still...

My favs are  hautelook, beyond the rack, and gilt. Note the links are referrals, so if you sign up through the links, I can get $10 credit. You get a referral link if people join through you.

There are others like billion dollar babes, editors closet, dd push.

Any other web sites that you know about?

  3. With the wedding package the bouquet for bride and botoninere for groom is included. I didn't pay extra for orchids. Other flowers they offered were stargazers, lilies, gerbera daisy, Casablanca, delphiniums, roses, etc.

Here was my bouquet (stargazers, white calla lilies, orange lilies, green orchids... no extra fees, it was all incuded in the package)

Click the image to open in full size.

My DH has an orchid was well as his botoniere.

I had to pay for extra botonieres (for BM, his dad, my dad), corsages (his mom, my mom), a bouquet for MOH, and flower for my hair since they were not included in the package. But all the botonieres were orchids and cost me at the time $21 total for 3 (it would have been $21 regardless of the flowers), the corsages were orchids with orange lilies ($30 for 2), and the MOH bouquet was the same as my bouquet but smaller ($20). I had an orcid for my hair ($5).

Plus I opted for flowers for the canopy which was extra. 3 arrangements for $60 (star gazers, white roses, orchids, orange lilies and 2 other flowers that I can't remember).

I had orange rose petals for the aisle which also extra ($15)

These were the Grand prices in 2009.

  4. Though I told them what restraunt I wanted in the paper work, the finalization at the resort is when she confirmed the time. You can call the guest and leave a message, just call front desk to ask them to forward your call to such and such's room.

I saw eveyone all the time since most times we would meet for supper, and I also meet evryone when they arrived. So I was able to mention it a couple of times to people.

  5. For me the rehearsal, was only a dinner which I thought was weird, but whatever. The booking of restraunts happened on the 2 day we were there... they will go over everything on the first or second day even though I filled out the paperwork they sent the month before the wedding... this is actual confirmation and finalization.

Our guests were not next to each other but in the same building and not that far from each other, so it wasn't that bad.

  6. Yes, you have to be there 4 business days if you are having a legal wedding (plus your 4 witnesses), but not required if you are having a blessing wedding.

    And more info...

    REQUIREMENTS FOR A CIVIL WEDDING

For the wedding ceremony or the renewal of the vows you need the following documents:

    Passports

translated into Spanish by an official translator with an “Apostille attached”. (An official translator can be found in the yellow pages of your city).

If you are a US Citizen, you need an "Apostille", which is a form of international certification. The "Apostille" is requested from the entity who registered births in the county or state you were born at (usually the Secretary of State or the Department of Health). You should send your birth certificates to the Secretary of State and enclose a letter stating that you are getting married in Mexico and that you need an Apostille. They will then return your documents.

You will need to send your birth certificate to such entity, along with a letter stating that you are getting married in Mexico and that you need an Apostille. They will attach this "Apostille" to the birth certificate and will then return the documents to you.

If you are Canadian, please contact the nearest Mexican Embassy or Consulate in order to legalize your Birth Certificate. For more information please contact the web page below:

    http://www.embamexcan.com/CONSULAR/F...gMarried.shtml

If you are British, you need to contact the Legalization Department of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

The Judge might keep the birth certificates, thus we recommend you to bring certified copies rather than the originals.

The birth certificates do not need to be translated into Spanish. In case the Judge requests to have a Spanish version, they will have to be translated in Mexico by an official local translator (at an extra charge).

Copy of divorce decree (in case you are divorced). It is necessary to be divorced at least one year in advance of your Civil Ceremony in Mexico. This is a government law and there are absolutely no exceptions here. The divorce certificate has to be translated into Spanish (if Bride is divorced). “Apostille” is mandatory and needed.

Tourist cards - which every foreigner obtains on the aircraft on the way down to Mexico.

Please note that the judge will NOT perform the legal ceremony if he does not receive all the necessary documents.

Blood test - it has to be made at the hotel in Mexico and it costs 154 USD per couple (to be paid in cash to the doctor).

4 witnesses with their picture ID (passport or driver's license) and a copy of their tourist card, which they will receive on the airplane. In case you do not bring any witnesses, the hotel will provide them.

    Important

The bride and groom and their witnesses have to be in Mexico for at least 4 working days before the wedding, to get all the necessary legal papers arranged.

The judge does NOT accept ceremonies for: Sundays, Easter week, the 1st and 2nd of November, the 24th and 25th of December and the 1st of January.

Please note that once you get the marital contract you have to inform your local authorities about the change of marital status and proceed to register your marriage.

The wedding couple and their witnesses must be in Mexico for at least 4 complete business days (Saturdays, Sundays & Public Mexican Holidays are not included) before the wedding, not counting the arrival date or the wedding date, to meet with the wedding coordinator and submit all the required documents and go over the wedding details.

Marriage License Apostille (for USA and British Citizens) – After the wedding you will receive your Marriage License. In order to make this valid in your country, we will obtain the Apostille for the Marriage License as well. The procedure takes 3 to 5 months, as soon as we have it back, you would receive by courier mailing. After that, it has to be translated into English in you country and registered in the city hall.

Marriage License Original Copies – every extra copy is 10 USD payable in cash. This procedure takes around one month. As soon as we receive it we will mail it by courier mailing.

The marriage is legal only in Mexico. If you want to make it legal in your country you have to pay $ 45 USD extra in order to take the Apostille. You will receive this paper by mail 2 months after the wedding.

We are looking to be at the resort on April 9 2011 (Sathurday) I heard that you have to be at the resort at least 3 working days prior to you wedding, is that true? If yes, would that mean that I'm just going to be able to have my wedding on the 14th (Thursday)?

I also would like to contact the wedding coordinator to see if I can book my wedding date, does someone has her email adress?

Is it true that the cost of the wedding is 2450.00$?

Thank you sooooo much, can wait to hear from one of you!!!!

  8. Glad to hear everything worked out. :)

We had an adult only wedding at an adult only resort of course. We didn't want children at our wedding, and no had any really issues.

My DH's sis came and had her hubby stay at home and watch the kids, and another couple had one of their mom's watch their kid at home while they went to our wedding.

We let everyone know up front that it was adult only (and yes, some tried to make me feel bad, but it's our wedding), and that people could stay next door to the other family resorts and have child care through the resort or have family/friend/parent stay back and watch the kids.

No one came with kids, and a lot of them were glad to have a vacation by themselves.

Is this info all what you guys have been told? Seems right to me, but now I'm just shopping around and looking for placecard holders. I want to have a group dinner the night before as well, sort of a 'rehearsal' dinner w/out the rehearsal ! So I'm wondering should I buy one set of placecard holders and use them twice..... is that totally cheesy?! probably! lol...
For us, they were going to make us have a fixed menu with 12 people, but we managed to get away from that by splitting up the tables.

And the rehearsal dinner for us... was just a dinner and nothing else. We really didn't know what to expect the WC didn't tell us anything, just booked the restaurant.

So I don't know what it's like for others, but this my experience at the Grand.

Now at a later time, the family is doing a group vacation back to the same resort. Some of the people who didn't bother making the wedding a priority now want to go because they feel like the missed out on the good times. The mom wants to tell all of these people where they can go (and I don't think it's to the resort!) because all of their lame excuses really boil down to "I didn't want to go out of my way to attend the wedding, but now that I realize that the resort is awesome for the price I want to go on the trip."

To the OP: I say let them figure out how to get there on their own. Don't tell them not to come, but don't go out of your way to accommodate them either. They sound like they don't care that much about you or your time, so why bother?
Sorry, I should have proof read my post before submitting, but now I can't edit it.

Yeah that's pretty much it. People made excuses to why they couldn't go to my wedding, but suddenly after hearing the stories, seeing the photos, and "hearing the price" saying it's do-able (though they already knew the price was way beforehand and I gave people almost 2 years to save), that now they can go on a trip and want to go there when my parents go again.

My mom has no issues saying whats on her mind... family or not. And she holds grudges for a very long time. My parents just have me and I'm the oldest among my cousins as well, and was the first to get married... My mom also said that if her brothers didn't send a gift their kids were not going to get anything from them either when the time came, but that's my mom. lol :) It also applied to her adult nieces and nephews as well about sending a gift or a card... so if they didn't send anything, they are not getting anything either when they get married.

She has told me not to give any gifts either to those that didn't send anything.

Oh, my mom will tell them not to go when they (my parents) go, and if they go not to go around them (my parents).

It might sound silly to some people how my mom is reacting, but her family is a take and do for me type of family with most of them and she has done a lot for her family growing up and now and their family's as well. So she is getting tired of how they are sometimes.
  11. We ever since familes have went back from our wedding, and started talking about the resort we went to and the overview experience of everything... Oh, wow, that sounded like fun and looked amazing... and really that was the cost, that's not that bad actually (everyone knew the costs)... You got to do that and tried this?... and the list goes now.

Since almost everyone is going back this year, others are looking to go now too... the ones that said they couldn't afford, or thought it was just all about a wedding... and what ever other excuses they used.... Now about 5 new couples want to book a trip when my parent's are going. Imagine that...

My mom is not "impressed" (using nice words)... and basically told them if you want to go, you're not going with us since you can magically go now instead a few months ago. She was ripping... and even asked which ones that have sent wedding cards, so she can give the same back to others... if they sent nothing, they are getting nothing. Mom is vengeful. I told my mom I don't care and really I don't... just don't make bs excuses that was said
