  1. Sorry to hear that the resort won't be open in time for you Relish. It was touch and go for us as well but it's suppose to be open on time. I know that the gardens won't be the same as before but I'm sure they will do there best to make things work. I will be filling up my suitcase with all kinds of stuff for the Cubans. The other resorts you mentioned in Cuba are wonderful resorts as well. My sister stayed at the Paradisus Princess del Mar and she said it was excellent! All the best to you and let us know how it goes!~ Ang
  2. oops!~ typo! encouragement! I'm sure you knew what I meant! LOL
  3. Krys, thanks for your incouragement. I agree with the video, it looks like they have a big cleanup ahead of them but it doesn't look like the place is ruined. Relish, I won't be there until the end of November....I have 10 weeks to go! My travel agent says that this hotel chain is a big one and that they will be working around the clock to get it up and running and to restore it's beauty. I truly hope that you have the chance to get married there. If you need to talk, or vent or even cry.....email me and we can touch base. [email protected] Angela
  4. Just saw this video on youtube: YouTube - PRDO Pool after IKE
  5. Thanks Kyrs for your response. I am feeling better already!
  6. Krys, I feel like I must clarify myself, When I asked why there were no post ike photos posted for the PRDO, I wasn’t assuming that the locals would be out taking photos of the damage. I’m sure they are busy with all the items you listed in your post. Of course they have much more to cope with than getting a photo opportunity. However; I was hoping that a tourist would be taking photo’s post Ike (that’s what I would do) and then when they got home, post them. All the tourists are home from the PRDO and still, no photos. Lots of video and photos of other resorts but none from PRDO. I find that a bit odd. Maybe it’s not as bad as they are saying at our resort. I’d like to see for myself, and I’m sure that relish is anxious too. This is a destination wedding forum and we were asked the question if we were concerned. When you plan your wedding for a year, it’s pretty hard to stay calm when something like this happens. I meant no disrespect for the people who live there and have to cope with this devastation. I can only state how I feel and I’m a nervous wreck. Thanks for listening.
  7. I have been on tripadvisor non stop searching for pictures of the PRDO post Ike. None to be found....I don't know why? I just want to see for myself so I can sleep at night!
  8. I know how you feel Relish. What tour company are you with? Apparently the tour companies (Sunwing, Air Transat...) need to go in and access the damage before they will make a decision. Until then, we have wait or we will loose all the deposits. If they deem it unsafe (which we know they will), we will have options on a different location. If they can't accomadate all your guests. They will give you a full refund and you will have to scramble to find another location. It is truly the worst position to be in, I know. I wish I could say something to relieve your stress. You have a lot more guests to accommodate. My fiancé also wanted to postpone the wedding....I don't want that to happen either! Hopefully we will hear some good news soon. I don't understand why the travel companies are saying everything is fine when it's clearly not! The hotel rep for the PRDO said that they should know by early next week what the situation is. Until then, we wait and worry!
  9. Thanks CayoLargo, I'm trying to keep my chin up. It's just hard when you plan for a year for your wedding and you want everything to go well. All the invites are out and you have gifts with the date and location. The last thing I ever thought of was that my resort would be wrecked by a hurricane! I am suppose to be getting married at the Paradisus Rio du Oro in Holguin, Cuba. Tripadvisor forums are saying that the place is totalled....I still have not seen any pictures. We have to wait and see....the longer we wait....the harder it will be to place 12 people in another resort for a wedding. I just find it very stressful, I wanted everything to go smooth. I am just feeling down right now and can't seem to get myself out of it.
  10. I am flipping out. My resort took a direct hit from Ike. Reports are saying that it's in ruins. I am due to get married there in 10 weeks! The travel agent tells me that we have to wait and see what Sunwing says when they visit the resort next week. At this point I don't know where or when or if I am getting married. Very stressful! I just want to cry!
  11. Wow!~ Those pictures are stunning! I can hardly wait to go!~
  12. Just wondering if there are any other brides getting married at the Paradisus Rio do Oro this year? Our wedding is on November 28, 2008. We are staying for two weeks!
  13. Hi, my name is Angela I'm getting married November 28, 2008 At the Paradisus Rio de Oro resort in Holguin, Cuba
