  1. Humm, interesting. I guess I am just lazy. I would love to have a set of edited pictures, a canvas print and a coffee table book all made up for me. I just don't have much time to do it myself. I would def want full reproductive rights so that IF I got the notion to make some kind of photoalbum myself, I could. But if the price is reasonable, I would rather just order everything from the photographer.

There was dancing on the top level and dinner on the bottom level. We didn't know what to expect but it definitely exceeded our expectations. All of our guests still talk about what a fabulous time they had. Thanks for the info. I used Aquaworld once before when my fiance and I went on the Jungle Tour. (He had a lot of fun driving the boat.) Maybe we could do the Isla Mujeres Day trip for our guests. The dinner cruise sounds awesome too. I guess it will depend on how much we can afford to cover for everyone.
  3. I don't have any information about having a wedding there but I visited this hotel back in 2005 and it was gorgeous. The water was ankle deep and a beautiful green-blue color for miles out. They also have great snorkeling. However, I don't know what it is like now. It is so exposed I can imagine a hurricane would seriously cause some damage.

It also takes a little while to get there. Once you fly into Cancun, you have to take a drive to the dock to get on a boat to go out to the island. Then get a cab to get over to the hotel. To get there, you have to go over this tiny bridge that I swear I didn't think a car was meant to drive over. It was fine though. Again that was 3 years ago so I don't know how things have changed but overall it was an awesome AI resort. Plus you will have access to the Avalon Grande in Cancun. That is where my fiance and I stayed when we were there.

I have some pictures but I need to figure out how to post them huh.gifhuh.gifhuh.gif

I hear ya. I thought September of 2009 was far enough away to give myself plenty of time to save up and plan for this wedding (which yikes! is looking like its going to be way more than I originally thought). But now I already feel like there are a million things I need to do. It seems a bit more planning is needed then just, "let's get married in Cancun!"

Regarding Del Sol Photography, yes their work is excellent!!! I couldn't afford to hire Sol or Matt, but their associate Vincent was in my budget, so we hired him. Matt and Sol both edit the pictures, so no matter what the "Del Sol signature" quality is there! I'm sooo excited to work with Vincent and I know he's going to do an excellent job as well!!
Definitely let me know how everything goes. I am really leaning towards RPLA for my wedding location. I have read several reviews on here and looked at lots of pictures and I just really like it. Where are you having your ceremony? On the beach or the gazebo? I really like the beach idea and while I know there are nicer beaches outside the hotel zone in Cancun, I really love how central the hotel is and I'm more familiar with that area. Anyway, I'm sure I will have more questions for you. I hope you don't mind!

That is so exciting! Are you getting married in the gazebo or on the beach (do they do weddings on the beach?)

Unfortunately, there were some other resorts (i.e. Dreams Cancun) that I had to eliminate from my list because they did not have availability for a Friday/Saturday/Sunday wedding in Oct. or Nov. 2008.

I would love to hire an outside photographer, but I know this might be a challenge with some resorts. Any recommendations are welcomed!!
I would love to hear how your visit goes. I am interested in those resorts as well and I would love to hear your opinion! They all look beautiful. I am looking to get married on the beach so if you think there is one in particular that would be good for that, please let me know. Thanks!

    Betsy,

I'm glad you enjoyed the Moon Palace, the resort looks so beautiful! Did you have any issues with your guests being spread out all over the resort? I noticed it has over 2000 rooms (according to Expedia) and I was afraid that was going to be too big. (I probably won't have more than 20-25 guests.)
I'm glad to hear the resort photographer did a good job. Our budget is a bit tight for our wedding so I'm not sure I can afford to bring in an outside photographer.
  9. Being as I am a newbie to this entire process (and this forum), I really didn't realize that I needed a wedding coordinator and a separate travel agent. Whenever I do finally decide on a location I will certainly be sure to check and see if the WC is getting travel commission. Is this an issue if you are buying a package deal from the hotel? (ie I was looking at the "Dreams of Love" Wedding package for $1980 from Dreams Resort in Cancun. This package includes the WC). Are you saying this WC takes a commission for travel but doesn't actually help in the travel arrangements?

  10. That is so funny. My fiancé, Clint proposed in Myrtle Beach too. He is a major "gamer" and impulse buyer so I feel your pain.

That stinks that the weather was no good. Poor thing. I'm sure he was nervous and just kept getting postponed.

At least you had no clue it was coming though. I actually had a feeling Clint was going to propose at the beach, which he did eventually. I was acutally nervous because I knew it was coming and I just wanted him to get it over with. Haha.

However, I was quite surprised by the ring he got. Reason being is that I had a feeling he would pick out something I wouldn't like so I went to the jeweler beforehand and picked out a ring with some of my friends. I gave him a card with all the info. Turns out, he went down there, didn't like the ring I picked (excuse me, who is wearing it?) and picked out something totally different!

Anyway, it is pretty and he picked it out all by himself so I kept it (honestly, how could I not? It would hurt his feelings), but I do give him a hard time about what he did every once in awhile.

I am planning to get married in Sept. 2009 possibly at Riu Palace Las Americas. I really like the idea of a wedding on the beach. No shoes! I have been looking for info on this place as well...

Yeah, it does look beautiful. The only thing is I would really like to get married on the beach in the sand. No shoes! I'm guessing you went with Dreams?
  14. Hi everyone!

My name is Amy and I am excited to start searching this site for wedding information. I already feel overwhelmed and the wedding date is over a year away. I'm thinking sometime in early September 2009. I really love the water in Cancun so I know I want to get married there but I'm not really sure where yet. Definately an AI. I'm leaning towards Dreams or Riu Palace Las Americas. I'll take all the info I can get about planning a destination wedding and about these 2 resorts. Or if there are other good ones, I'm up for suggestions.

    Thanks,

    Amy
