  1. I think I have one of those that I received as a stocking stuffer last year. They are really cool bags, and they fold up into this little baggie to fit inside your purse. I always have a bag with me at the grocery store.

But, I personally would not recommend them for OOT bags if you want something that will stand up and look good full of stuff... although it really depends on your taste. They are extremely strong and hold a ton, they just don't sit upright unless they are full because they are made of nylon. I'm guessing the picture shown is of them lying flat.

Again, it may be no big deal to you... and actually for re-usability they are great. Just something to think about for the presentation side of things.

  2. I really would like to do a luau for my guests as a thank you... but we will have to look at the budget closer to the event. Our wedding is on the 30th, so I don't know if there will be a luau on New Year's eve (I doubt it). My wedding guests will not want to hang out with one another at all at any other point as a group (out of 14 guests, 6 are divorced from others within the group) It's going to be an interesting mix to say the least!

We are probably going to try to do at least one event with each couple. Ziplines and Hana are on the agenda, but we'll drive to Hana ourselves. The ziplines weren't there last time we were there so that's exciting. We're also planning to go up Haleakala and go snorkeling at least twice (we'll be there 2 weeks). I also think a helicopter ride would be amazing.. I might try to get one organized for Colin as a gift.

  3. For the two baby showers I've planned:

one- I bought pink bars of soap and wrapped them up in baby themed flannel to look like diapers. (I used small safety pins to fasten the cloth around the soap.) They were a hit.

For the one next month I am planning to make baby-themed shaped cookies. We don't know the gender for this one, so it makes things a little more difficult.

I think the mini baby bottles with bath salts is a great idea! You can probably find toy baby bottles at the dollar store.

  4. awe, that seriously sucks! But you're not a douche- you made an honest mistake and that spot is definitely poorly marked. Don't feel so bad! You would only be a douche if you had done that on purpose! I would definitely contest it, and if you can bring up the fact that the cop said it was a common complaint, do!

  5. My biggest concern is naming my child a popular name. I HATE HATE HATE having the name Jennifer. It's not an ugly name, but there are SO many of us. It gets rather annoying. I remember there were 9 in my grad class. That is kind of crazy. I highly suggest thinking about the popularity issue before naming children!

  6. I don't think it's tacky. Many people have wine & beer bars only. I would just make sure this is allowed. Do you intend for them to serve it? There is often a corking fee if you want them to serve your alcohol. And a lot of places I've seen do not allow outside liquor to be brought it.

  7. It sucks all around. Did you discuss with them why you chose this resort before you did? It's not really their fault that you accommodated them in the beginning. If they can't afford it, they can't afford it... I think it's a good example of one of those instances of being too nice and accommodating for others and it biting you in the butt. It's an unfortunate way of reminding us that we have to decide what WE want before we put everyone else first. It's our day. Don't make any more concessions for others because you can never guarantee these things with weddings.

  8. Our coordinator is Makena Weddings. We have been really happy so far with Laurie's work. This is a business she owns with her husband, who is the minister who will be performing our ceremony. I was most stressed about finding a good WC, but this one happened upon me through an acquaintance at work who I met in January who used them this year, so I was able to get a really solid referral. I even got to see the DVD of her ceremony and all her pictures.

We are booking everything "a la carte" so to speak, and then she charges 18% for her coordination fee. She has booked our ceremony & reception site, photographer/videographer, florist, hair & make-up, musicians for the ceremony, DJ & dance floor, transportation... everything pretty much. I'm pretty happy and everything has been totally stress-free up to this point.

  9. roo- we're staying there as well, and have in the past and they are excellent condos. It is nice to have a smaller building and it's right across the street from one of the most beautiful beaches. The prices per night are for the room, not per person.
