  1. It sounds like so much fun, I feel like I would not want to have all the guests lose it, when I can just as well have the poolside reception. Does anyone recall what time it starts/ends? It would be great to go down to the beach after the reception for all the entertainment!

  2. For the ladies who have already been to ROR, do you remember where the Friday/Saturday night beach party is held? Is it closer to the activity pool or the infinity pool? I want to have the poolside reception, but I am afraid that there might be too much going on, with the beach party music and entertainment on a saturday night? Thank you!

  3. I agree with just being as aware as you can out in town. There are many many people who make their lives out of selling souviniers to tourists and they can be very pushy which is intimidating.

The first time I went, my FI and I had a woman watch our rented jeep with all our luggage for 4 hours while another man took us to some beautiful secluded waterfalls and jungle. I was scared the whole time that the guy would do something or the jeep would not be there but all was OK!! I felt really ignorant after that!

On your other question. THe CAVES in Negril is beautiful, and also the #1 place in Jamaica to stay on TripAdvisor. However, it is very expensive, and there is only about 10 rooms.

  4. When I first started researching location in Jamaica, that was my first choice. The pictures on the website look beautiful. They have so much information on their site, and links to pictures of sunset weddings that look just breathtaking. They also have a large indoor, or amazing reception area on the cliffs. The themed rooms seem like a lot of fun as well. It also has a great rep on trip advisor, with some wedding reviews.

I ultimately chose ROR because it is AI, and I wanted a beach wedding. But the sunsets in Negril cannot be beat, and I'm sure Negril Escape would do a fabulous job with your wedding.

  5. Hulahooty, thats fantastic and exciting, what is your date?

I'm so excited there are so many ROR brides here! It makes everything so much less stressful, but its also making me way too anxious for next winter!

  6. Ok I got a little more info from my travel agent. She said that it is $50 per person, but I am not sure about the menu. I know the beach reception menu is more like a barbeque for $50 pp, and this is not what I would want for poolside, especially because everyone seems to be raving about the food in mamme bay and the plantation. I am also not sure if that would include open bar...maybe another $10 per person?? She said it is set up along one of the sides of the jr. suites infinity pool, and the reception cannot begin until after 6:30. She said it could accomodate my 75 guests with dancing, but suggested I do the disco? But after seeing all the fab pics, I'd definitely want the BEACH!!!

  7. Hello ladies. I am very excited to have found this wonderful website. My wedding is at Riu Ocho Rios is January 17, 2009, and I cannot believe how much info I have already found at BDW. Thank you everyone!
