  1. There were several wedding parties staying at Azul Beach when I was there. The hotel staff said they were doing a wedding each day for the next 5 consecutive days. We witnessed a cocktail party at the wave lounge one night. I thought it was a nice setting but remember that the wave lounge is not big. They used the covered area for the dance floor and most of the seating was on the grass or patio area but most people were either dancing or standing. We also witnessed a reception in the terrace area next to the buffet. I thought it was a nice location and everyone in the wedding party seemed really content.
  2. Has anyone gotten married at or is considering the Marina El Cid Hotel in Puerto Morelos for a wedding location?
  3. It's great to be able to perform "site inspections" isn't it? I had the opposite experience while watching a wedding at Azul Beach two weeks ago. Approximatley a dozen hotel guests were completely rude during a couple's wedding. One bikini clad girl stood directly in front of the couple not 20 feet away taking pics of them. Meanwhile in the swim pool not far away, guests continued to loudly party. I felt terrible for them. Too bad you can't control what other guests are at the hotel during your wedding. I agree about the hotel itself though. I thought it was very tranquil.
  4. I just returned from 5 days in Mexcio completing "site inspections". We stayed at Azul Beach for 2 nights. I loved the hotel however decided against it for my wedding for the following reasons. 1) not ideal for both kids and party minded guests. The main pool area (which is small) has a swim up bar and water basketball. Of course kids naturally grativate toward the hoop and ended up being right in your face as the pool is small and you have nowhere else to go. One kid almost knocked me off the "water bar stool". I plan on having my niece and nephews at my wedding and don't want to crowd everyone in one pool. The other two pools are also small (one is 2 ft deep and the other 3 ft deep). 2) Wedding location is too accessible to other guests. I watched a wedding while there on the beach in the gazebo(?). Although the setting was beautiful, there were about 15 people (nonguests of the wedding) not more than 15 ft away standing around in their swimsuits gawking at them during their ceremony. I would consider the Azul Beach if I had a small, adult only wedding or for a honeymoon. Let me know if you want me to email pics.
