  1. What a great thread - I think we may have read the same book. I am also trying to get rid of all of these products with synthetic chemicals. I am trying to buy all "green" cleaning products, nothing tested on animals and vegan products. It is really hard to find stuff sometimes. We went to 3 stores last weekend to get dryer sheets!

    Back to beauty products:

I really love Tom's of Maine - most of it is frangrance free, but it works well. I also love all Burt's Bees products, which are mostly paraben and SLS free. I use a bunch of that stuff and I love their sunscreen and shampoo.

Dr. Hauschka products are also awesome!!!

I check a lot of the products on this website below before I buy them. This website is kinda scary though because of what is in all of the products.

    Skin Deep: Cosmetic Safety Database

  2. That really stinks. A couple of months ago someone hacked into my hotmail account and took it over so I could not get into it. They were sending crazy emails about ebay! Luckily the hotmail fraud people got me back into the account. I know it is really awful when that happens!

I hope that you get it worked out.

  3. We are having the same problem. We are getting married at SGOR on August 30th, so we need to send our papers in soon. Someone called me from Sandals the other day to remind me!! I thought we could make a copy and get it notarized, but apparently in NC notaries cannot do this. I think that in some states they can. So we are requesting notarized copies from the states we were born in - South Carolina and Texas. There is an awesome website - VitalChek Express - Birth Certificates, Death Certificates, Marriage Records, Divorce Records and Vital Records where you can request a copy of your birth certificate and you can get a copy back in 14 days. That is what we are doing. Also, I think Sandals does not return the copies of your birth certificate, so you don't want to give them your only copy!

  4. Prior to getting my Prius I had a Civic, but Fi had a Xterra. We traded in the Xterra for the Prius and it was the best decision.

My insurance did not increase. It is the same as the Civic was and the Civic is a 99 and the Prius is an 08. I am not sure how that worked, but I was happy.

Also, the oil changes are not more expensive, you just have to get them at the Toyota dealership as they have all of the parts for the Prius.

As far as repairs - the new toyota hybrids come with a 7 year electrical part warranty and a 5 year powertrain warranty. So if anything happens to the battery, which is very unlikely, it is covered for the first 7 years. Because the Prius has been out for over 5 years you can look at the history of issues with the batteries and there really have not been many.

I am so happy with my Prius, I love it!!

However, I agree that if I had a Civic or something small that got good gas milage I would not trade it in for a new car if it was working fine. However, if I was in the market for a new car I would look at a Hybrid. Also, you can still get a tax credit on many hybrids (just not Toyotas).

  5. I just got a Prius 2 weeks ago and I love it! It has been getting about 47 miles per gallon. It is actually really roomy and can fit 4 people and quite a bit of stuff very easily.
