I hope you can get everything fix with the hotel and the TA. As for your bridemaids, if they dont want to go looking for a dress then tell them that you are just going to pick the style.

I am using Dj Scooby...Ramon Ernesto Saucedo so far he has been great with emails and phone conversations. I will let you know when I get back how he was.

The re-planning was not bad at all everything stayed the same. I just had to call all my vendors and informed them of the change. I also had to get all of my guest reservation numbers in order for them to be switched to the right hotel. From the sounds of it not ALL guests originally booked at the Riu Vallarta are being upgraded to the Riu Palace Pacifico. The Riu has actually been really great about this whole change. -
The reason for the sudden upgrade is because the Riu Vallarta will be closed for the entire month of October.Quote:

Dont cancel try to work it out. Take a deep breath and deal with one thing at a time. I know how you are feeling we just had our resort closed on us. So trust me, I know that this is hard to deal with but we have done so much planning already.

We are getting married October 20, 2009 and we planned our wedding on October because the weather is gorgeous. We always try to travel during this time if it rains its for a short perios of time then the sun comes up.

Well as some of you know we have been moved to the Riu Palace Pacifico. Planning begins all over again with 3 weeks away from departure!

I really doubt that they will honor the rates because it is a huge difference. I would settle for guests staying at the Riu Jalisco and just hope that a least they wont charge a day pass for guests to come the day of the wedding. FI and I had a nice bottle of wine last night to relieve some of this stress. I thought the planning was coming to the end...I was so wrong!
The price difference is definately huge. My question now is so would the resort be really busy and crowded since they are consolidatiing? Usualy the higher end resort would be a difference of 200-600 per couple as the experience tends to offer better food, beverage and amenities.
Believe me I understand how stressful it can be but the end result is you will be marrying the person you love the most in the whole world! The experience will be amazing!
I really hope this does not happen to anyone. It sure does increase the stress factor. I am hoping for the best and have my confidence in the Riu that they will deliver. I agree with you. Im sure that they knew about this closure and they decide not to let us know. The ball is on our court so i will definately be asking away for freebies!! My thing that is getting to me is that we had everything planned out for the wedding and now I dont even know where its going to be or whats going to happen. I should find out tomorrow but even though they come back to us with options we are not going to be able to see what we are getting until we get there. FI and I took a site visit trip last year to take a look at our reception options because we did not want any surprises. I guess that didnt go to well. I just hope and pray that everything turns out ok.

Thanks for the information...we will be heading to PV next Saturday so hopefully we will get some really nice hot weather. Its nasty rainy cold in Chicago right now so Im ready for some HOT weather.
