I did look at Tripadvisor again and saw better results - it seems like they get things built quick down there (we were at a different resort last week and I couldn't believe how fast the addition went up) so in a year they should be more settled - right?!

We're planning on using a travel agent - does anyone have any idea how far in advance they have pricing available? We're doing a Jan '09 wedding and funjet and apple don't go out that far...

wow! thanks everyone!! We're planning on Jan '09. We looked at and liked El Dorado Seaside Suites and Hotel Marina El Cid, but we're looking for something a little more affordable - and has to be kid-friendly for my little brother.

I've never been to Cancun, but my fiance shot it down right away because of it's party reputation. Does anyone know if there's a big difference between Cancun and the Riviera Maya?

Hey - are you guys still thinking about this place? I just saw a comment on tripadvisor that said "STAY AWAY!" The post said the construction is terrible.

We just got back from touring some places in the Riviera Maya and I thought I would come back with all the answers but now I'm more confused!!

We really liked the Catalonia Riviera Maya (where we stayed), but my fiance's friends were married there so we don't want to copy them.

Does anyone have any suggestions for other places to look at?? We want to find an all-inclusive that allows kids, and is affordable so our friends/ family can come too!! We like the Riviera Maya area...
