  1. Well, I'm thinking of cutting out Dreams Tulum b/c they only allow buffet for more than 50 on the beach, and I'm having more than 50 but want a sit-down dinner. Yet everyone who has a Dreams Tulum wedding loves it. I'm so conflicted!
  2. Dreams Tulum wants me to fill out a form to hold a date. I'm going to look there and at 2 other sites that I have on hold in a week and a half. If I give them my information to put on hold, there is no way they would be able to cross check with the other resorts, right? I don't want to lose my dates at any of the places, and I'll be letting go of them right after my visit which is so soon...
  3. Well I was told you get the best feeling for a place by staying there b/c then you see the kinks of it all - and the beach/water and the food are important to me so...ugh I don't know! I forgot about CRT - that was supposed to be on the list for visiting around the same time as Grand Sirenis and Palladium. I think I need to change my flight to add an extra night .
  4. So I'm trying to fit a lot into a short period of time - Am I crazy and what do you think? Day 1 - Arrive mid-afternoon Cancun airport, visit Azul Beach and Azul Vew showcase room Night 1 - Stay at Paradisus Riviera Cancun Day 2 - morning mtg with PRC WC Day 2 - possibly look into offsite options through Yazmin in Puerto Morelos (if I love Azul Beach for hotel (they won't allow me to get married there due to my wedding size). Day 2 - day visit Grand Sunset Princess (anyone know how to schedule a mtg?) Night 2 - Stay at Grand Sirenis OR Grand Palladium - ?? - Which of these should I stay at? I don't have time to stay at both! Tour/mtg w/WC at one of them Day 3 - Visit the other choice (btwn Grand Sirenis and Grand Palladium) and meet w/WC there Day 3 - Lunch at Al Cielo and mtg with WC there Night 3 - Stay at Dreams Tulum and meet with WC there Day 4 - make decision, return to Cancun airport for mid-afternoon flight. note: Grand Sirenis and Grand Palladium may be for our stay only and I may get married at Al Cielo.
  5. Melissa - that is funny that you and your friends are both getting married down there! Kinda nice for you to get a preview of what a wedding in RM is like! What resorts are you considering? I wrote to the WC but she has yet to send me menus or pricing if I want the reception on the beach, nor did she tell me anything about if I'd have to rent a dance floor for a beach reception. I also wanted to know if I could have a different ceremony location b/c I didn't love the one in the photo she provided but she didn't respond to my two emails I sent. I am considering a site visit on my quick 3 day trip down there but haven't decided if I'll actually stay there one of the nights or not. I won't be there for your friend's wedding though, I'm going slightly afterwards, so I won't get to witness from afar what a wedding there is like. Do you have any idea of how many weddings per day they have at the resort? Maybe you friend would know?
  6. Did you request the chuppah (or whatever you may have called it) to be a certain height or did they just set it up some standard way? My FI is 6'6" and I just realized I should worry about this.
  7. All I heard is that the "Riviera" side is intended for Europeans and the "Sunset" side for Americans - not sure why the separation? Also, seems like there are great specials available currently. Unfortunately, it won't be open yet when I go down at the end of Nov for site visits .
  8. Melissa Radolli, Please post a review of the wedding, food, facilities, and beach at Grand Sirenis when you return. Thanks!!
  9. And they restrict you to weddings of less than 60 guests, sadly. It had been my first choice.
  10. I just noticed the three of us live in SoCal - funny! (and Julie I think is from NY, which is where I'm from originally).
  11. I think Al Cielo may be open through June. I may have my wedding there in May (going down for a site visit right after Thanksgiving to decide for sure) - so I can take photos and give you more info after that. The person I'm in contact with is really great - the nicest out of anyone I've contacted down there, which is kind of swaying me! I just need to find a resort for me and all my guests to stay at relatively nearby - I was hoping for something elegant and intimate and beachy all tied in one, but with 60-100 guests I may end up at one of the larger resorts. I hope I like one of them when I go down there - I just wish I could narrow it down a little before then! Any votes/recs? I'm also going to see a few other resorts specifically for weddings (rather than just housing) for just in case and I'll take pics at those too.
  12. Did you get a chance to try the food at each though? That seems to make or break some places for a lot of vacationers.
  13. So I'm having a hard time narrowing down and a friend told me it makes a difference to actual stay over at a resort vs. just visit it to get a real feel for everything - did you guys do this? I have 3 nights, but I was planning on visiting resorts from Puerto Morelos all the way down to Tulum...
  14. Ok, I'm an idiot - seems like you just have to choose Upload your own design. Ok. I still would love answers to the other questions. Also, does anyone order just 1 of a card to make sure it worked ok before ordering a bunch?
  15. Hi - I'm not sure if my brain is fried or what but for some reason I can't find the option for what I want to do which is this - I want to upload my own photo for the front of a card (just a one piece card, like a typical photo card or announcement, not a fold over or anything), with NO text on the front (just the photo), and then upload text relating to the STD details on the back. Can someone humor me and help me thru this? I'm usually very technical but I think I'm so tired from my exhaustive resort research (which is still going on) - and I'm just trying to be prepared for a quick STD send out when I finally pick one to give my guests the most time I can (which is not much). Also, does anyone know if the quality is good when Vista prints photos on cards? I was thinking of buying paper and doing this all myself, but wasn't sure if the color printer at work (or my one at home) would be good enough and whether it would be too hard to get everything nice and even. Additionally, I know what gloss or matte is, but what is the linen option? And finally, are the envelopes of corresponding quality to the cards - do they go together well with similar paper quality? THANKS!!
  16. Does this mean you can't have a large private dinner on the beach anymore?
  17. Has anyone heard anything (besides what is on tripadvisor) about this resort?
  18. Thanks guys! My sis told me she did hers on word, but nice paper, printed them out, and that was that - which reminded me that I did the same for her bridal shower invites (although I made them all pretty and fancy) - I guess I should look at some designs over the wknd and figure it out! Turns out I'm going down for site visit at end of Nov, so as long as I have the basic format saved, I hope to print (or order) and send as soon as I get back (and people will have 5 months, which isn't much, but everyone I know would have procrastinated with travel plans anyhow! This is assuming things don't get booked up by then .
  19. How do they look on your feet? I think the AK pair is usually a more flattering style on feet.
  20. I'm not sure why I didn't get the photos - but if no outside vendors are allowed, I guess it doesn't matter anyway, b/c I didn't like Marina Maroma's menu.
  21. Thanks for the vista print tip - I'll look there and maybe do some quick other research asap...
  22. There is a chance that I'm going to try to do my wedding in early May (I was planning on a year from now, but I may move it up) and will need guests to book the hotel asap so that I can block more rooms if necessary before they all book up, and thus I will need to do a very quick STD. How do I do something quick and still be effective yet elegant/fun? Do I do a paper STD and include info about a webpage & TA? Has anyone done anything last minute like this?
  23. Yazmin, Thanks I look forward to the photos! Do you know if it is possible to have a wedding there but with catering from whichever catering company you choose (in other words, other than the Marina Maroma catering menu)? Do you think the setting felt like it could be made to look elegant, or was it very casual?
  24. Problem with Jonathan Club is that you need to know a member to sponsor you. Otherwise, it is perfect. I've lived in Santa Monica and Venice for over 10 years and I've never met anyone who is a member there though.
  25. Were you able to see the Cancun hotel strip from Dreams Cancun? It gets such good reviews, but I was hoping for somewhere outside of Cancun...
