Now that I think of it, I'll probably be ready to go back by then, fly me down and I'll do it for you!!! You bring up a good point, we might have someone who could step in and MC/DJ. I will have to look at my guest list. I just feel a bit hesitant asking a guest to "work" at my wedding. So all you want is an airline ticket to join us as our DJ. That will surely be much cheaper than hiring the resort DJ. I may have to consider that option.
  3. I completly agree with you. I will have the emails printed and "contract" in hand. I will be ready to fight.
  4. I am getting married in the Chapel as well. For the reception I am going to hire the Mariachi's for the 45 minutes and am playing with the idea of hiring a DJ. I am having a hard time picturing my reception going smoothly with an ipod and no one to emce the event. But the DJ is just so expensive. Has anyone heard reviews on the DJ?

In it it stipulates: "Musicians, Photographers, etc. not booked by the hotel's wedding department are the sole responsibility of the person hiring the service." I'm not sure how they would try to enforce a $500 fee if it is not previously disclosed in the contract. We'll see what happens but whatever is the outcome, I know in the long run we will be MUCH happier with photos from Vincent, rather than the highly unprofessional hotel photographer we met during our site visit. Also, the hotel photographer isn't available for receptions- where all the fun photos come from. This is the exact "contract" she sent me when I asked about outside photographers. I have not been told by Lomas that there is a $500 fee for bringing in an outside photographer. I have not signed this contract. It doesn't appear to be a contract. It just looks like policies.
  6. I am getting married in May at EDR and was wondering what the EDR brides were doing for Photographers/Videographers? I know this is a sensitive subject. I was just wondering how everyone else is handling this issue.
  7. I was not thrilled by their beach wedding sites or decorations either. I am glad I am not the only one that thinks their arches and columns are cheap looking. I was considering a ceremony in their chapel. I like that they only schedule one wedding per day and that there are a few different resort options for our guests.
  8. Is anyone planning their wedding at either Iberostar Lindo or Maya? I have been going back and forth with Luz their WC and am getting frustrated. Does anyone know if they offer private receptions other than the 2 hour options listed on their information sheet? I am trying to compare the Iberostar resorts with EDR and seem to be getting nowhere.
  9. I am looking for a AI where I can have a beach ceremony (at least have the ocean as a background), private reception outdoors, and a nice resort where we would want to spend our honeymoon and my guests can afford to stay. Well I have seen all the wonderful pictures of EDR that are posted and really love it. I need to look more into pricing. I am concerned about the room pricing for my guests. I know that they have many different types of rooms but are the junior suites reasonable enough.
  10. Hello Everyone! My name is Tricia and I am from Austin, Texas. I have been trying to plan our wedding since May of this year and have bounced from Playa del Carmen to Austin and back to Playa del Carmen. I believe after all my research of Austin weddings we are now sticking with Playa del Carmen. Playa is so much more appealing in so many ways. Now I have to take the next giant step of selecting a location. I am finding this decision so difficult. We don't have a date yet but are shooting for Spring of 2008. I feel like I am running out of time.
