Then I would just tell her that you don't know since you didn't plan it. Just play dumb like you have no idea what is going on and then you've done your part and your MOH can take it from there. She can call your friend and say you had asked her about bringing the kids so she wanted to let you know ("without ruining any of the shower secrets by telling the bride") that its an adults only shower...

GREAT review and thanks for adding pics - they really help us to visualize! Everything sounds like it was amazing. Those pools by the rooms that are also right next to the walkways seem a little weird. Hard to relax with people constantly walking by, I presume...

You have every right to tell her its adults only. Showers usually are. Just tell her how sorry you are , but that it wasn't planned that way. Who is throwing your shower anyway - your BM's? Why don't you have the hostesses handle telling her 'no kids allowed'. That would keep you out ofit and off the hook. :-)

How cute! I love that FH wanted everyone to "see" his proposal, lol!
-
That's great news! Isn't it great to get positive feedback?! :-)
Just as a word of caution - don't get too excited about all the "count us in's" ... simply b/c if it is anything like ours - we had a LOT of people say they were coming and then not be able to or simply not follow through. Hopefully Vegas will be easier for more family and friends to make for you. And oh what fun!!!

This one lets you set up funds ... so you could set up a Honeymoon Fund and a Landscaping Fund.

Not at all. Register for what you need/want. We used Honeymoon Wishes - Honeymoon Bridal Registry your wedding gift is the perfect honeymoon to get $$ to use on our honeymoon for excursions, etc. I am sure there are plenty of other general registry sites where guests can give monetary amounts towards certain thins that you choose. With our honeymoon registry - we actually were just sent the $$ via PayPal ... but it allowed guests to feel like they were contributing toward specific things. Does that make sense?

There are no costs with using a TA, which means they are more than worth it. Search the travel forums and you will find all the answers to your questions. Good Luck!

If you are not used to being alone, the deployments can be especially tough. I was so used to being on my own that when DH deployed, I handled it better than I thought. Just make sure you take part in the support groups that are offered and try to build a good support system of friends around you. You will have good days and bad days, for sure. Hopefully by the time he gets deployed, we will be closer to peace time. -

I don't know how readily available it is ... but one of the top sellers at a few of the wine bars that I sell to here is Innocent Bystander Pink Moscato. It's from Australia and is a pink bubbly moscato that is just absolutely amazing. All my friends love it too and I buy it by the case to keep at home. Even DH loves it and he's not a wine drinker. Slightly sweet but not syrupy sweet ... and fabulously crisp. I promise if you find it, you will love it! -
I have been using the Banana Boat Summer Color Air Mist Tan in "Airbrush Color" with a citrus scent. It's like $7 at Wal-Mart and I LOVE it. It just gives you nice color and glow without the streakiness of some of the others - and looks totally natural.
-
Also, we have lots of BIG flea markets around here that are $5 a table - so clean out the house or get started on some of the aforementioned DIY projects that can make you some extra money!

Looks great! Avatar is my choice too. Siggy is nice as well, but you would need to lighten up that purple background b/c the smaller yellow font is too hard to read. Nice job on both!

Diane - The WC should be able to book your hair appt for you - and for any BM's that want theirs done as well.
I told my WC how many girls were getting their hair done and what time I wanted to get things started and she had it all set up for us.

The Melia was right next door to our hneymoon resort, Paradisus Palma Real - and I wasn't too impressed with Melia.
I can't give a review or anything, but from what I saw - if Ocean Sand is getting such great reviews from these gals - I'd go with that instead of Melia...

Fab pics! I love the kids shot and the one w/ your head on his shoulder looking at the ocean. And those BD pics are SMOKIN'! CONGRATS oin a beautiful weddin and unbelieveable pictures!!!!

There are tons of reviews of different resorts in different price ranges. Looking through these threads is a great way to narrow down your choices! Good Luck!

Hannah - I would check out the vendor area for photog suggestions. There are so many that come highly recommended here on BDW. I LOVED my photog and a friend used her for a stateside wedding and also loved her. A lot depends on your photography budget.
Also - check out the other DR threads for off-resort activities, excursions, restaurants, etc. We went off resort several times to a local dive bar (Steves Corner Bar) and to eat at Jellyfish - and I HIGHLY recommend doing both (we took taxis).
Also, we did the Saona Island tour and it was THE BOMB. The Monster Safari also comes highly recommended and we are going to do that next time.
Happy Planning!!!

Great to see you on here, Les & Lynda! We hope to make it to Cabarete on a return trip to the DR in years to come...

I think its great that you are starting the process early. We got engaged in June 2006 ... but then my fiance left for Iraq and was gone 14 months. So, we weren't married until April 2008 ... and truly, having that much time to plan and save money and research was a blessing. The time will FLY by! Feel free to read my review (the link is in my siggy). We LOVED Paradisus Punta Cana and I highly recommend it.
-
Ah, boy oh boy how I hope DH can use the webcam on his next deployment. He has been gone since June (stateside, just in training) and we have only been able to talk on the phone about 5 min every day and sometimes texts.

Our actual wedding and reception ran just under $4k ($3820 to be exact). I posted a breakdown in my review thread.
*Here's the link to my thread - my first post breaks down our totals and how we got our invoice down from $9K to $4K* http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t20973
We had 40 people and did a beach reception with a buffett and open bar for 3 hours. Our rehearsal dinner was at one of the restaurants but since we did not privatize the restaurant, there was no charge. They just sat us in a section away from everyone else and it was perfect.
We did our wedding and reception with the "a la carte" pricing instead of using a package and b/c of the # of people we had - it was a lot less expensive than using a package - and it was exactly what we wanted.
Of course, that $8K did not include travel/accomodations/incidentals (dress/invites/OOT bags/etc).

Ah, Casa de Campo was recommended to us by some friends who have been there and it sounds like it is absolutely spectacular. I haven't been there, nor do I know much else about it - but I am sure your DW is going to be off the charts there! Love the DR!!

Beautiful! Love them both!!!!
