  1. Any other time I would be SO on board with this...but DH's big b-day blow out in Vegas is coming up and after paying for all that (plus all the new outfits I HAD to have for it! lol!) I jsut can't swing any more expenses at this time. :-(

You HAVE to let me know how you like the photog 'cause I've been wanting to do BD pics for a while and will likely do them within the next 6mos-year.

  2. My absolute fave were the Tiffany champagne flutes David got for our engagement. Obv they were extra special since he bought them specifically for that, brought them to the hotel w/ us etc. But all the same, I LOVE them and we made sure to use them to toast at our wedding, and we've toasted with them each anniversary too. Also, that whole "blue box thrill" goes a long way towards making a gift extra fun IMO. :-)

Going along w/ the champ. flute idea...a bottle of nice champagne is always fun too. It's a fun splurge since most people don't tend to buy top-of-the-line for themselves on a regular basis. I've always thought this was a fun giftset and have been wanting an excuse to buy it for someone...

I also agree w/ Tara's wedding mag idea. I was SOOOOOO excited to go out and buy wedding mags after we got engaged. So I say throw a couple of the biggest, fatest mags you can find in there. Or get her a subscription to Martha Stewart Weddings or something like that.

If she's the girly, sentimental type...who happens to be planning to take her FI's name after the wedding...some new stationery, cards or notepad w/ her new initial on it would be fun. I was a BIG fan of the new monogram and my new last initial so I loved all that stuff!

  3. I would say DH and I are borderline joined at the hip! ;-) We are totally that sappy couple who at 10am are texting from work, "I miss you! Can't wait to see you later!" And we mean it! lol! We just seriously love being around each other. I would say we do most of our social "outings" together as a couple. But he's a pretty avid golfer so he does that w/ his friends and I'll either enjoy some alone time or make plans w/ my friends. I think we have a good balance. We each have a girls/boys weekend at least once a year or so and usually just being away from each other that night or two is enough! I guess if I had to quantify it somehow I'd say we're 70% conjoined and 30% independant. :-) Maybe 80/20 sometimes! LOL!

This is totally us too sometimes!
  4. Thanks for the update K! What a relief to hear that everything went well and Jay is going to be ok! Well, better than ok now that you guys have found and solved the problem! I'm so happy for you guys!!!

    Hugs!!!

  5. Ummmm...a sh*t load of booze?!?! ;-) lol!

Seriously though, I used to take 4 advil at once but I'd end up taking WAY more than you're supposed to in a day...that stuff wears off in exactly 4 hours for me so just to get through one day I'd end up taking 20 advil....literally. Not good. So my ob-gyn prescribed naproxen for me. It's basically prescription strength Aleve. That works a lot better but I HAVE to take it at the first barely there, "maybe it's a cramp, maybe not" feeling to give it enough time to kick in. After that though, I'm golden. It lasts a solid 11-12 hrs for me and doesn't make me feel doped up so I can still drive, work etc. That was important to me 'cause I don't have a couple days each month to take off work and be all doped up. You know?

Anyway, I'd look into it for sure!! WAY better than spending the $$ on otc drugs that you end up taking more of. My prescrip is just $5 for 30 pills...which lasts me a looong time since I only have to take 2 per day, and usually only for the first two days.

  6. Love this thread!!

And it is funny that so many of you are Geminis....I'm a Taurus though and I have the exact same problem so not sure what that's about! I finally moved some of my products into the guest bathroom 'cause I was running out of room! lol!

Anyway, I've personally never been able to get the results I need/want from natural hair care products...so I'm still on the chemical train with those. I'm a Frederic Fekkai girl right now and it's working for me. But I may give the natural products another shot sometime soon since it's been a couple years since I've tried them...I'm sure there have been advancements since then. I've used a conditioner from Phyto that I really liked...so that may be my next haircare adventure.

For skincare and stuff I've used a lot of different things. I actually HAVE used some samples from Boscia before and really liked them. I am considering buying some when I run out of the stuff I'm using now. My friend Monica is using this right now:

Sephora: Boscia Antioxidant Recovery Treatment C: Age Control

This is what she says about it:

OH! I totally have been meaning to tell you about this product sample I got from Sephora. I’ll send you the link to it. This stuff is SERIOUSLY amazing. It helps to clear up pimples AND reduce the signs of sun damage and aging. I haven’t seen my complexion look this good in a LONG while. It’s really great!

So yeah, that's on my list! lol! I've also used Alba before and really liked it. And I do use a fair amount of Body Shop products so I'm happy to hear they'll be paraben free soon!

Sephora has a good selection of natural and/or organic products. And they're GREAT about giving out samples....so definitely hit them up if there's a product you're interested in.

  7. Gorgeous dress! Congrats on finding The One!!! Oh, and seriously don't even pay attention to the size of the dress...when I was shopping for mine all the stores told me that most of the dresses run a size smaller than normal clothes...so if the sample is a 10, in "regular sizes" it would be an 8 etc. So dumb they do it that way...I mean who wants their wedding dress a size larger than they normally wear?!?! lol! Anyway, I know I felt better once I figured that out and decided to disregard the size of my dress completely! ;-)

  8. Ok, so I was searching for this thread yesterday and couldn't find it!!! lol! I was so happy it popped up in my email this morning!

The 16th is fine for me too. I'm booked up the next couple weeks w/ some parties and then getting ready for/being in Vegas.

I've heard the Glass Cactus is cool! (in Grapevine, right?) We should totally go there sometime. Btw, do we know where we are planning to meet on the 16th? I can't remember if we ever decided on a place!

  9. Ok, PLEASE don't hate me...but we just found out my nephew's b-day party is out at my inlaws land that night. (literally got the invite on Wed this week) frown.gif It starts at 6 and I'm not sure how long it will go. I can't imagine it would be too late though. Anyway we definitely have to go to it. But if you girls are thinking you'll be out for a while...maybe I can call you once we get out of there and see where you are...at least meet up for a couple drinks?

I"m so sorry about this!!!!! And I really wanna come meet you guys, hang out , see Kat's new boobs...lol! ;-)

  10. Where I'm from it's normal for the BM's and GM's to pay for their own wedding attire. I've never been in a wedding where my dress was paid for by someone else.

That being said, I do understand it's a nice gesture - esp w/ a DW since they're already paying more to attend your wedding than the average BM/GM. BUT I was the MOH in a DW last year and I still paid for my own dress....and it didn't bother me a bit. Just the "cost of doing business" so to speak.

But if your friend's natrually assume that you'll be paying due to tradition it might be harder to "sell" the idea of paying to them. So I'd say try to chip in half or so if you can?
