  1. Hey Niki,

I was there in Jan to shoot a wedding and from what I saw... I wouldn't hire them to shoot my wedding and here's why:

Now normally as a photog, I would only be able to critique the final product, but in Jan I

was there to shoot a wedding and watched the resort photogs and videographers in action.

    1) there was two of them and they only had ok cameras and lenses.

    2) they were late. yep, the wedding started and about 6 minutes into the wedding here come the photographers running up....

    3) very standard shots (at least from what I witnessed during the ceremony) no creativity, it was like they didn't care.

I only stayed to watch the ceremony. Now, I know I might have some high standards being a photographer, but seriously.... hire an outside vendor for the photography...

oh and if you see "pastor tacos" run to get them. They were soooo good.

you sound like a politician!!! and Morgan, thats a pretty good list you got there.

Thats really sad that some people, vendor or not choose to act that way.

Im actually considering changing my studio name to ASP... Anti Stress Photography. what do yall think? would it fly?

  3. Im usually not one to pass judgement... but I think what they do to those bulls is weak and cowardly. I am a hunter and as a hunter we try not to put the animal in any pain and for sure we don't torture the animals we hunt. Whereas the bull fighter repeatedly drives a sword into the animal. might as well go and kick your dog or cat until it can't move anymore while your at it....

the bull will never win... so what if he sticks the first bull fighter, the second will come out and finish off the torture of the animal..

    i feel better.

  4. so I take it you would like to get married on the beach and then have a reception to follow?

here is a website that will walk you through the permit process. Permit for Beach Wedding — Department of Land and Natural Resources

    this might work... http://www.seawatchrestaurant.com/

if you use the search function on the top menu bar and enter maui wedding or maui reception you will find tons of info...

    good luck

However, as this is my client's day, it is also their decision to make. I let them know the benefits and advantages, and then they let me know which way they want to do it. So, either way, it's all good! cheesy.gif

    Hope this helps.

    Best wishes,

wow Tod we see things completely opposite... but thats what makes life so great...

I feel that while it is nice to get some of the portraits done before hand, the bride and groom are still nervous because they still have to do the ceremony... whereas doing the portraits after is easier because now everyone is mellow now that everything except the first dance (last bit of pressure) is done.

as far as the "getting to the cocktail hour" most receptions last between 2 and 4 hours, which is plenty of time to see and spend time with everyone...

    just my .02
