  1. So....I may be making a big mistake, but I am leaning against doing a seating chart. I'm just not sure all the hassle is worth it. I only have 55 people, don't you think people can arrange themselves however they want? I plan to have seven tables of 8 each. We might reserve one table for us and our wedding party. Then have a table for each family. But basically let everyone sort themselves out. What do you gals think -- smart or stupid??

  2. I am your kinda girl! I got my dress from www.netbride.com for $530. It retailed in the store for ~$800. It even came early!

I picked it out in the salon, and then went home and got a quote from several online retailers. Netbride was the cheapest.

They don't carry all designers, but they do carry Casablanca. Just go to a boutique that carries Casablanca and try some on. They were some of my favorite dresses and I think they look more expensive than they actually are.

Tammy, I think one thing you could do is tie the starfish on as a charm to the ribbon around the stems of the bouquet. (If you are going to wrap the stems in ribbon?) That's the best idea I have without actually having a visual of all the pieces.
  4. I want to compile a file of "must-take" photos to show my photog before the wedding. I have a couple already collected, but I'm hoping we can start a thread where we all share our favorites. The best or most creative poses. Things that your photog might not think of, but that you really want to make sure to capture.

So please add your favorites to this thread! Try to post something that maybe we haven't all seen before.

    Thanks, ladies!

  5. I'm not sure if this is the right place to start this thread, but I am wondering if one of you ladies can help.

I want to make a comprehensive packing list of everything I need to bring with me. Attire, decor, accessories, toiletries, etc, etc.

Does anyone already have a list that I could use instead of starting from scratch? What are things that I probably won't think to bring but that I really will be glad I did?

    Thanks in advance!!

  6. I am using Antares, and he is about 60% responsive, 40% late. Lately, as my wedding nears, he has been better. If you can wait a month for my review of him (and MariaElena's review of David F) then you might be able to make a better decision?

I think it's just the way business is done in Mexico, unfortunately. The only vendors who are 100% prompt with me are the Americans living down there. I have chalked it up to a cultural thing. After all, we are getting married in Mexico so I guess we have to play by their rules! :)

  7. Jackie - I totally agree! I am not getting married at a big hotel, so my hotel gets like one review every 3-4 months, but like half of them are bad. But I got great recs from past brides, I visited the hotel myself...I just try to block out the negative stuff. I mean you can only worry about so much!

Hey Kash, Sorry I missed your question the first time. It's been a long day!

To officially know how many points to eat, you might want to join WW for a few months, but it's something like 18-23 points a day if you weigh between 125-150 and 22-27 points a day if you are 150-175 lbs. But you can bank unused points, and use them later. A few years ago they went and tweaked it and changed the points per day but then gave you a bank of 35 "flex" points per week. And then you can "earn" Activity Points.......And anyway, this all sounds very confusing and complicated when it doesn't have to be. Basically, when I am trying to drop the pounds, I try to average 20-25 per day. For every 10 minutes of working out, I get an extra point.

But I would definitely join WW if you are serious about it so that you can understand the points system MUCH better than I am explaining it above!!
  9. For all of you WW (or wannabe WW) gals out there, I have attached an excel spreadsheet that is both a journal and a points calculator.

The journal has room for every meal and it's Points value for 10 weeks. On each sheet there is also the points calc. Just plug in cals, fat, and fiber and Voila!

I like using this to keep track of things when I don't want to be paying for the online journal or meetings. It should be ready to print if you would rather do your journaling offline.

Also, even if you don't pay for WW, you can register and use their message boards for free. They are a great resource and source of encouragement.

  10. Hey Natalie,

Can you tell us more about your wedding wants? How many people? What do you picture when you think of your dream wedding? Have you seen any hotels that have caught your eye? If you can give us all the specifics you can, I am sure we can help!

  11. Have you looked at zappos.com? They have free shipping both ways, so there is no risk in ordering and having to return shoes. I love them. (But they don't always have the lowest prices, fyi)

Or, can you strongly suggest any other hotels in Cabo that are within walking distance of the action? I looked at Melia also, but it seems like too much of a party atmosphere for us.
Have you looked at the reviews on Trip Advisor? Those people looooooove a small hotel called The Bungalows. Sorry I don't have any actual advice! :)

The great thing about a destination wedding is that you have already thrown most of the conventional stuff out the window, so you can really do whatever you want! However, I think it's nice when there is at least a subtle theme that runs through your event, whether it's colors, an image like the starfish, a font, a "feel" you know? Maybe instead of having your colors be really consistent, you can have your flowers be the thing that ties the wedding to the reception, or something like that.

Maybe I'll go back and look at them and see if I can spot any places for a poolside wedding. The Gazebos are also beautiful and if all else fails we wont have much of a problem using one of them. But for some reason I have this picture in my head of a wedding poolside at dusk.
Thanks so much for all your great replies to all my silly questions.

Maybe with lots of little luminarias (sp?) all around for lighting. I love the idea of a poolside wedding!
