New Google feature

Google has implemented a new feature which enables you to type a

telephone number into the search bar and hit enter and you will be given

the person's name and address. If you then hit MapQuest, you will get a

mapto the person's house. Everyone should be aware of this! ?It's a

nationwidereverse telephone book.

**** If a child (or an adult) gives out his/her phone number, someone

Cannow look it up to find out where he/she lives. The safety issues are

obvious, and alarming.

Note that you can have your phone number removed or blocked. I tried

Mynumber and it came up along with the mapquest and directions straight

Toour house. I did fill out the removal form for myself, and encourage all

Ofyou to do the same. Quite scary.

Please look up your own number.

In order to test whether your phone number is mapped, go to: google (

http://www.google.com/) Type your phone ?number in the search bar (i.e.

555-555-1212) and hit enter. If you want to BLOCK Google from divulging

your private information, simply click on your telephone ?number and

thenclick on the Removal Form. Removal takes 48-hours.

Interesting...mine came up, but it wasn't a map to my house, but to some other random location in Lansing. Strange. I'll click remove it anyway!

mine showed up! but really, i don't know if i care ... maybe i should? usually when i am filling out something and they ask for my phone #, they're asking for my address too anyway. right?

Phew, mine did not show up. My parent did with their address. Will have to have that removed for them. What a pain all this is getting! Thanks for the info!!

Yikes... I feel weird being on there. But at the same time... I love the feature. I rarely answer my phone if I don't know the number... but it drives me nuts when the person didn't leave a message - so I usually run a reverse phone number look up. This will make that easy

you've been able to do this for awhile. not sure about the map feature thing as i never tried it out, but the phone number thing has been available on google for awhile. i made sure to delete our info. it's crazy!

i never really give out my home phone number, just my cell phone.
