  1. Okay- So after 3 weeks I am finally ready to write my review. Lauren Rapkin you must of inspired me to stop being so lazy. So here goes my review of Azul Sensatori. So unfortunately, Hurricane Bill decided to show up on my wedding day, however we made the best of it. We had 50 guest in total, which seemed like a lot. Azul Sensatori was the PERFECT size resort for this many people. Any bigger of a resort, we wouldn’t of been able to find any of our guest. It was awesome because it seemed like everywhere we went we saw people we knew. When we walked in we were handed champagne and my husband and I were taken straight to the premium concierge office to do our own personal check-in. This was great because we travelled with 25 others, so we didn’t have to wait in line. Unfortunately our guest didn’t have as great of a check-in. We checked in at 12:00PM, however some rooms weren’t ready until 3:00PM, which we knew that they may not be ready. The most irritating part was that they lost (of all people), my mother-in-laws reservation. We also had guest double booked in rooms (walking in on others) and room reservations wrong. A few people got double beds instead of king beds, etc. Not sure if this was the travel agents fault or the resorts. In the end, everyone got into the correct rooms. Some people had to stay in temporary rooms and be moved to their permanent room the next day. Checking into the Premium section was great! The concierges were very accommodating. We even had an excursion planned on Thursday when our wedding coordinator meeting was scheduled and they moved it to that same day. We got to pick scents, soaps, and pillows for our room while we checked-in. After we checked-in we were taken to our room, where our bags were already placed. The rooms were really nice. Stocked with beer and snacks. The only down fall to the room and all of our guest room was the water that came out of the Jacuzzi tub was yellow. We had a swim-up suite, which I would probably not get again, because we didn’t even use it, since the non-premium section guest weren’t allowed. Later that day we met with the wedding coordinators, and Lauren was right they go over EVERY. SINGLE. DETAIL. I finally was able to relax after that meeting. Even the back-up plan, which was good since we ended up having to use it. One thing I will say that was frustrating about the resort is that the computer system was very slow. We had rented décor from Katy HK and they told her that we hadn’t checked in yet around 3PM, however we had checked in at 12PM. The first night we put on our itinerary to meet in the mojito lounge, which everyone did. The mojito lounge was pretty awesome and had lots of different and unique drinks to choose from. We didn’t even tell the resort we had everyone meeting up, because we thought they would charge us. It was fine because we pretty much had the place to ourselves. That night we all went to the Tapas restaurant that was right next to the Mojito lounge and we had to sit at different tables, because it was extra if you had more than 10 to a table. The food was pretty good, very very small plates and it took FOREVER. But the drinks were flowing so we didn’t mind too much. Thursday we went on an excursion with Flavio Tours- and it was AMAZING! I had it planned in advance, it was recommended by one of my co-workers. We had 18 guest go with us and Flavio picked us up in a very nice van right at the resort. We did the Chichen Itza tour and Cenotes. Our tour guide Flavio, pretty much runs Cancun, so we got VIP everything. The only bad thing was the drive- about 2 hours to Chichen Itza. We first stop at the Cenote around 9am and there wasn’t anyone else there. We got to jump off a cliff into the cenote. Flavio and his helper (can’t remember his name) took pictures the entire time and gave us all of the pictures at the end for no extra charge, we just had to bring a USB stick, which we knew ahead of time. We then went to Chichen Itza where we had our own guide with head phones so we could hear everything he was saying. None of the other tours going on had head phones. We then ate at this beautiful hotel- authentic Spanish buffet which was included in our excursion price and Flavio even bought our first round of drinks. There was tons of shopping at Chichen Itza, so we did some of that and then headed back to the resort. We will for sure use Flavio Tours again when we go back. The rest of our guest had shown up that night while we were on the excursion. Most of us went and ate at the Caribbean Restaurant, which wasn’t really Caribbean- more like seafood and they had gourmet burgers during the day. And then we went out at Mojito Lounge again- they even had a DJ until 1:30AM. The next day was our beach day. We had all our guest on the beach- it was a blast. Not a problem at all reserving chairs and cabanas. There is a lot of seaweed on the beach, it didn’t bother us too much, but the tractor going back and forth all day long was a little annoying. That night was our rehearsal dinner. Our wedding party came down to the beach where the pier was and we ran through a rehearsal without the coordinators. We then had all 50 of our guest for a private dinner on the terrace at the Mexican restaurant Zocalo. IT WAS PERFECT! They did 5 tables of 10 guest, with just us on the terrace, overlooking the beach. I would highly recommend this location for a private dinner. We had a signature cocktail and 4 course menu to choose from. We hung out on the Zocalo terrace/bar for over 4 hours. Some of our guest went out for more drinks, but we went to bed to rest up for the big day. THE WEDDING DAY- We woke up to a Hurricane. We knew right away we would be having everything indoors L We had brought our hair/makeup lady with us, it was actually cheaper than the spa, because she did myself, 5 bridesmaids, and the two moms all in my room. If you do this, bring a powerstrip. There aren’t many plug-ins in the room. As the day went on the weather got worse at 12PM we made the decision to move the ceremony and reception inside. Our plan was to order room service for lunch, however they don’t do room service when it rains… we pretty much had to scream at them to have them bring us food. We also called to order mimosas and they said it would be an extra $50 charge for champagne. Luckily, my mom ran out in the rain and the concierge was nice enough to give her two bottles, but no OJ. The coordinators were supposed to come to the room at 12PM, but they never showed up. Flowers were supposed to be at the room at 12PM, but we had to call and they were finally delivered at 2PM. At 2PM we decided to put my dress back in the bag and have me get dressed in the main lobby. Luckily the coordinators let me get dressed in the bridal suite in the spa, however they wouldn’t let me have my bridesmaid in the suite with me unless we wanted to pay… this really made me mad. When I finally saw the wedding coordinators I told them they needed to go help my bridesmaids over to the lobby so they didn’t get their hair and makeup messed up… and they never did. VERY FRUSTURATING! After I got dressed I went to the lobby and they were setting up for the ceremony on the rooftop terrace, which was plan B, however the floor and chairs were all wet. My dad tried to find another location like mojito or tapas because both were in the lobby, however they wouldn’t let us do the ceremony there. So we ended up doing it the hideous ballroom. They still set up all our decorations in the ballroom, but it REALLY REALLY REALLY needs to be updated. The one thing I was most nervous about the wedding, was that we didn’t get to meet with the officiant before, however the officiant was AMAZING and the ceremony went together without any issues. THE RECEPTION- We originally planned to have the reception at Zavas Plaza, however we ended up in the other hideous ballroom. Though the coordinators did their best to make it look pretty, which I was pretty impressed. We used DJ All Music and the MC… they were AWESOME. They had all the songs we requested and our guest requested. Everyone dance the entire time, I couldn’t have asked for a better reception. We even went to the mojito lounge after for a bit. No band or Dj though. The next day we had the breakfast in bed and it was delicious. The weather was still terrible, and was even worse than my wedding day. The power went out in all the restaurants and buildings probably 20 or more time. We drank inside all day. Some of our guest flew out that day, most without any issues. One of our groomsmen flights got cancelled and he had to pay an extra $377 dollars to stay in someone elses room for one night. He even offered to just sit in the lobby, because his rescheduled flight was at 6AM and he got back to the resort at 1AM and they wouldn’t let him. Our travel agent ended up getting him a refund when we got back to the state. The last few days the weather was beautiful and we got to enjoy a couple more days in the sunshine. However, a lot of our guest rooms were flooded and a couple of the restaurants were flooded and closed for a day or so. All in all I would say we had an amazing time, mostly because of all our friends and family that came. It was really unfortunate for the resort to have the hurricane and I think they handled it pretty well. I would suggest they have some activities planned for when it rains for the guest to do. Most guest either stayed in their room or in the lobby and read. We hung out at Mojito on the rainy days, but it would have been nice to have something else to do. I would give the resort 3/5 stars. The service was amazing, but when the rain came everything pretty much shut down. The coordinators tried as best they could to make everything perfect for us.
  2. Does anyone have the contact information for Katy who rents decor in Riveria Maya? Also, do you have to pay the $800 vendor fee to rent the decor from Katy? Thanks!!
  3. I would really love to have this look at the reception at the zavas plaza. Does anyone have any idea how much tulle I would need?? Thanks!

  6. @@lolita2014 Thank you so much for doing a review! Quick Question- How much did MegaDJ cost you? Did you have a lot of communication with him before? I am wanting each "couple" in my wedding party to walk into the reception to a song I have pre-selected. Do you think he would let me do this? Thanks!
  7. I too am now officially an Azul Senatori Bride. We have booked our date for 6/13/15. So excited! Trying to hurry and get our save the dates out.
  8. I just booked at Azul Senatori for June 13th, 2015. We used a travel agent and she negotiated a group rate for us. We are getting $175/per person per night. This rate was a lot cheaper than any website we looked at. We were going to go with Now Sapphire cause it was 150 a night but Azul had more to offer. We also will be getting every 11th room booked for free off our bill. We are inviting our guest for 4 nights at a total of $735. Not too shabby! I definitely recommend using a travel agent. Ours is sending out all the info to our guest, setting up a website, and payment plans for our guest. No charge to us. She gets commission from the resort.
