  1. Thanks miwako! I contacted Alina and she was very responsive. I'm surprised how much they are willing to do with decorations-candles/vases/etc available for rent. I thought I was going to have to provide my own vases when I got down there. She quoted me $55-75 for various centerpieces, which is reasonable enough... Still not sure what we will end up doing. Do you know if they will split the entree options, ie some people get beef and some get chicken? What other decor are you thinking for the terrace? Is the $500 site fee for all night? Or for only 1 of the searings? Thanks!!
  2. Ladies! Sounds like so much progress with you guys - I'm getting anxious for my April 21st! miwakostory - cool to hear you are renting out the steakhouse terrace! I wanted to rent out the steakhouse but am just short of the 60 required guests so this is a good alternative. What is the set menu there? Do you know if it is possible to do a bar there still, or just beer/wine as offered by the restaurant? Did you get you questions answered about the flowers? My top pick is calla Lilly also- so I hope it won't cost too much extra! What is the fabric for that you mentioned? Do they offer that for decor on the arch? Oh my goodness! Less than 3 months:)
  3. No problem Mishele! Hope everyone had a good holiday! We are up to 40 now inching up to our 60... right on the borderline of being able to do a private event at the steakhouse so I am getting a little nervous! Maybe I should consider a back up plan if I can't get up to my 60! Baja Norte might be a good option - Kary had the great idea of being able to hang paper lanterns on the light strings they hang from the palm trees... I'm a little unnerved trying to put a backup plan together... Charliegirl - just saw we are booked on the same day! How exciting! Maybe we will see your crowd at the discotech after the receptions:) WedCabo - I've only heard about 1 bad riu DJ experience- the rest have been good. I'm planning on doing the DJ and bringing a loaded iPod just in case. I think the riu refunded the DJ money for the gal that had a bad experience too. That is exciting that you already are working with your WC...even though the communication is slow:(

  5. Hi Robyn- congratulations! What is your email? I can email you the price list they sent to me for photography and videography. My wedding isn't until next April so I can't comment on them yet but the reviews I've seen from other ladies has been good:)
  6. I'm flying down on the 14th, wedding on the 21st - wow our weddings are only 4days apart! We are thinking we will have around 60, but we haven't even sent the invites out so it's tough to guess! We have about 30 booked so far. We are from LA, how about you?
  7. Hello 2012 brides! (hi kary!) We are getting married on April 21 at 6pm on the beach (with pool audience)... I'm flying in a week early to prep and relax - so I might see you there Michelle! Thanks for the tip on the efavorMart.com table runners - what a great deal! Are they always that cheap or is this a big sale for them? For you ladies looking for skinny vases to take down - Have you thought about the Eiffel tower vases? You can get a case wholesale for less than $100 at Koyalwholesale.com I'm pretty sure they are acrylic or something that won't shatter in you luggage. Did anyone get the updated 2012 menu yet? -Katie
  8. You ladies are a life saver! The reviews and pointers on this thread have been AMAZINGLY helpful (the more rambling the better!). I'm getting married April 21, 2012 - and I am also getting the "don't contact us until 2 months before your event" and getting the planning jitters. Do any of you still have the checklist you can send me? Crys - your wedding looked beautiful! It looks like one of the brochure pictures on Riu's website so it makes me optimistic that REAL weddings are as gorgeous as I'm hoping - yay! I do have a few questions: 1. I was hoping on doing an informal 'welcome party' for guests a few nights before the wedding. I love the idea of a bonfire on the beach but I read somewhere that the Riu was no longer doing that. Any other ideas/suggestions? 2. Did any of you use the Riu photographers/videographers? Several of the outside photographers have already been booked out for April! 3. How did the welcome basket at check-in work? Did you know when all the guests were arriving and meet them? Or did Riu hand them out for you? Looking forward to seeing more pictures and reviews of your events! Congrats to you all!!
