Congratulations! Did you go with the Royal package or the Caprice Package? I think with either one, you get the following included: - Bride's bouquet - Groom's bout - 2 arrangements for the arch which then get moved to the dinner table after - a vase of flowers for your hotel room - another vase for you to use wherever you want - 1 rose petal bag - a little corsage for the cake My mom is a florist, so I was worried the flowers would be cheesy and done by someone in the hotel, but they are done by an actual outside florist, and working with them has been GREAT. They give you roses, Calla Lilies, other lilies, tropical flowers, and whatever else is in season. I think if you want tulips or something they import, you just pay extra. But we are getting married on Valentine's Day, and we are getting mostly red roses at no extra cost. Amazing. Depending on the size of your group, you can have a semi-private sit-down dinner in one of the a la carte restaurants at no extra cost. We chose the steak house. If you want a private dinner, you pay extra. Same with a dance. No dancing in the restaurants at a semi-private dinner. There is a list of extras you can get the Sales Manager (Sakura Ono her e-mail is [email protected]) to send you, which include things like DJ, Dance floor, sound equiment, etc. We are opting just to go to the disco after dinner. Good luck with your planning!! And don't stress out, the actual wedding planners don't contact you intil a couple of months beforehand, which would be outrageous if you were having a wedding at home, but it's actually fine here, because they do so many weddings you basically fill out a checklist for them and it's ready to go. Hi Kylie! I'll let you know when they e-mail me. We've got 21 people coming so far, and I'm betting we get some stragglers as people decide they're sick of winter and want to go somewhere warm. I got my dress from David's Bridal, in Burlington Washington. I live close to the border, and they have a good selection of beach wedding dresses, and good prices. Then I ordered some blingy flip-flops on line. We're getting married on the beach, so I figured they would be the most comfy. Have you been to the resort before? We have, and we absolutely loved it.

Hi! I've emailed the wedding coordinators a couple of times, but they haven't responded. I know their practice is to contact us about 2 months prior, but a quick answer to my questions would have been appreciated. I am confident they know what they're doing, I just am a planner and want to know EVERYTHING. :-) We will have checked out on the 17th, so we won't get to peek in on your wedding. I know they won't be contacting me until 2 months before, but as I'd seen others have gotten a checklist and other info beforehand to keep them happy until the two month mark, I emailed the WCs, but haven't had any response. I'm not too worried, as I believe they know what they're doing, I am just a control freak and want to know EVERYTHING. Any big pitfalls you can warn us about, with yours coming up so soon? Leah

Hey all, We are getting married on Valentine's Day 2012 at the Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas. We have about 21 people booked to join us, and I imagine we'll get a few stragglers signing up once the crappy weather sets in. We booked our travel and set up our group rate through Sue Stiliades at itravel2000.com. She is the group/wedding coordinator and is fantastic. We've had absolutely no issues, and she got us a great rate for our guests. Anyone else out there getting married at the Palace in Cabo? Leah

Good advice, Michelle. I was kind of wondering why we'd need to book an open bar, when the beach bar is right there. Trying to keep the unnecessary costs down, and spend it instead on cool touches like the mariachi and now (thank you) the coffee station. I do remember paying $5.00 per person for a Mexican coffee in the steakhouse when we stayed there before. It does suck that all-inclusive doesn't really mean all-inclusive. Thanks, Chrys's Mom! Your insight is very helpful, and my Mom will be so glad to hear about the flowers. I have short hair, so there's only so much that can be done with it, but I'm going to work out a style with my hairdresser here at home, and take a picture with me to the resort. I worried about the makeup being "too much", I prefer a little more natural look but still want my eyes to pop during the pictures, so I'll be sure not to be too shy to tell them that. Hi Kary, thanks for your reply! I emailed both WCs, but haven't received a response yet. I'm not too worried, although I am a "serious planner chick" too, everything I've read indicates that they are fantastic at pulling everything together when the time comes. We have 21 people booked so far, and a few stragglers who haven't booked yet. We've decided, as long as we stay under the limit, to go with the semi-private at the steakhouse. We don't mind the surf n turf set menu, and as we are getting married on the beach at 4:00, a 6:30 seating wouldn't be too bad, and will satisfy the Matlock crowd who like to eat early. :-) We figure we will just go to the disco later for dancing. Does anyone know what the difference is between the "trio" and the "mariachi trio?" We want to do something a little different, and I can't think of anything cooler than having a spanish band play you down the aisle at your beach wedding. Also, I heard as an extra you can get a spanish coffee station set up at your table after dinner. Anyone know what that costs? Thanks, ladies! Leah

I am thrilled to find fellow brides willing to share their secrets and tips, and hope to be able to do the same. It's not the first marriage for either my fiancee or myself, so we wanted a simple, fun ceremony and a nice dinner at our favorite resort. We had no idea how many people would come, so we booked the Royal wedding package to start with, as we can always upgrade if we get a huge response from our guests. We figured for the difference in price between the Caprice and the Royal, we could just pay for my mani, pedi and hair, and still come out ahead. We arranged a group rate with Sue Stiliades at itravel2000.com, and she was able to reserve a decent rate for us, guaranteed for 60 days, with our guests coming from different locations (Vancouver, Edmonton and Regina). She sets up a booking link, and we just sent it out to all our guests with our invitation, and they take care of the booking themselves with her. She was fantastic at quickly answering e-mails and telephone calls, and has made the travel arrangements (which I feared would be like trying to herd cats) a breeze. Since our wedding coordinator at the Riu won't likely contact us until 2 months prior, I have a few questions. I am trying not to stalk her too soon, but as I'm sure you all agree, it's too exciting and important to wait that long. 1. Do you get a choice of flowers for the bouquet? If not, is what they choose for you nice? My mom is a florist, but I am determined this time around she is just going to relax and not do any work for my wedding, so I just want the resort florist to take care of it. That being said, my Mom will die if her daughter has ugly flowers at her wedding. :-) 2. Is it just a CD player on the beach for the wedding ceremony music, or something more elaborate? Has anyone hired the mariachi band or trio, and are they good? 3. Has anyone used the hair stylist/makeup artist at the resort, and are they any good? 4. We think we are going to have the semi-private wedding dinner at the steakhouse. Has anyone had the set menu, and do you have to have the set menu if you are over a certain number of people? 5. The champagne included in the package is set up at the ceremony, correct? We want to also have a bottle of good tequila for a celebratory shot (this being Mexico and all) so I'm hoping they'll let us buy one and have shot glasses available. 6.
