  1. I'm not sure if this will help anyone, but hopefully so. I, by pure luck, heard about the YWCA close to where I live having a bridal shop where Kleinfield's and Priscilla of Boston's donates dresses, typically samples, and the proceeds are used to fund a shelter for abused women. (Can you say WIN/WIN?!) I went to check it out, and OMG! I found Monique Lhuillier's Lourdes dress for $400! It was in near perfect condition! I also found my dress, which will be the BL0901 Bliss by Monique Lhuillier for $158!!!!! This one actually was damaged, hence the uber low price, but it's a very very easy fix, and absolutely gorgeous!!!! Anyways, if anyone ever has an inkling to make it down to SW Virginia, it's the Lynchburg, VA YWCA, and they call it Church Street Bridal. Seriously, the deals are UNBELIEVABLE! BTW, before the bliss dress, I found a drop dead gorgeous RS Couture dress with a tag from Kleinfields for $7700 for $300. I almost pulled the trigger, but it just didn't feel right. I was glad I waited and looked again this morning. One more note, they had the ML Meredith dress in a size 10 for $350. I thought this would be a stunning beach dress. It did have a tad bit of damage to the sash that wraps around the waste, but with the right tucking, you wouldn't even notice it. My boobs are too big for it, though. The other dresses I saw included Lazaro and Jim Helm. Also, Provonias (lots of this one) and Palomo Blanca.
  2. It's always been by dream to have the destination wedding with the beautiful beach pictures, so we have decided to do exactly that. The only thing is, we can't really afford to do a week at the resort, and a week for the honeymoon, so... what we are thinking about doing is having a small, intimate ceremony back home, with just parents and siblings, then we would do a symbolic ceremony on Isla Mujeres with just the two of us. We're really not into the big wedding/reception idea. This is my second wedding, so it's just not important to me. It's really just about us, but I do want to share it with our family. My thought is to do the small ceremony at home, and just have dinner at a restaurant after. It would be a definite break from tradition, no music, no garter toss, etc. Has anyone done this?
  3. Alright, ladies, I've been lurking for months. I've been waiting to get engaged. Still not official yet, but he has bought the dress, so I'm unofficially looking at dresses. I fell in love with this dress based on pictures. This is my second wedding, so I'm on a super tight budget, and I'd never pay $8000 for a dress anyways, so I'm looking to go the knock-off route. I know someone on here has had a designer make this dress. My concern is the fabric. I want it to be the light, airy feel, but I'm wondering if they can do that. Here are some pics: (Sorry for so many, I'm a wee bit obsessed)
