  1. We are May 2, 2011.. small event- we are being re-married on our 25th anniversary. The costs are starting to add up...we are taking our children and flying some family as well. AND PAYING FOR COLLEGE, yikes Ally, on this site posted some great tips... and I will read more postings and learn more as well. I sent an email to Pilar Saturday and got a response today. I asked about the aisle runner...she said they only have red, if I want white....it's a $100 extra. On my tour, she showed me where the bar would be set up... today I learned to have a private bar is $400. Also, ally suggested a florists which she says did an awesome job- $200 for everything. Today Pilar replied if I wanted to use any outside verndors, there would be a $350 charge. Also, if I wanted my bags distributed to guests...it would be $3 per bag. I thought Ally said they charged her $2... They want an extra $110 for my son and his girlfriend to ride from the airport to the resort with us.... Is this the same that you all have received with your bookings?
  2. I am having a very small crowd compared to all of you... I can't imagine this being my first wedding and doing a destination wedding. I'd be stressing even more then I am. For those of you bringing favors/gift bags... how do you plan to distribute them? I'd like for the bags to be in my guests rooms when they arrive. A back up plan is to have the bags ready and labeled for check-in. Are you all doing a-la-carte weddings or did you purchase a package? Lisa- you are the 26th...we arrive the 28th. Will you still be at the resort? We are only there for 5 nights and leave for our honeymoon the day after we reaffirm our vows. Amy
  3. Ally. I loved reading your post. Quite helpful. My husband and I are renewing our vows, 25years at the Now Jade. I've had many challenges with Pilar. Even though it's our 2nd wedding, I too, am detail oriented and want all things to be done. I'm curious, did you get a package? I am leaning towards the highest package... but it was more for the menu. The a la carte items are outrageous! The cost for bows on chairs, etc... I have bags for my guest with hats, tee shirts, bath salts etc... did you ship your things prior? I wonder if I don't use the flowers from the package .... if they could do my centerpieces. As of now, we have chosen a 6:15pm ceremony at the pergola with the reception on the oceanside terrace... there's only 25 of us and I don't want to pay the extra person or room charges. Maybe we should re evaluate that given what you said about the buffet and the crowds. I am not worried about the beach with people, since most are off the beach and getting ready for dinner. I do worry about the buffet crowd. I will reach out to your florist... I want lots of flower but refuse to pay their prices. Who did you use for transportation? Amy
  4. Oh Hamy, I am sorry. It's the pits waiting, isn't it? I'm sure all will be great and you will be a beautiful bride! What package did you pick? Is yours a large event? Where is your ceremony location? Where did you choose for your reception? I couldn't believe the pricing for bows and colored decorations. I'm also waiting to hear about the DJ.. when I was there in July 2010 checking out the resorts, I found a singer who blew us out of the water! I wanted to see if I could work her in... no response. I had gotten the run around about booking, and my code for guest rooms. Maybe if you send an email...and tell her- you need to arrange a phone call and NOW. What are they doing about your rooms? I'm trying to see if an upgrade comes with the package. Sorry about all the questions, I just found this website this am, while ordering favors. I'm sorry for your challenges, but I'm relieved it's not me. I stay at AMResorts often. I think their customer service is sub-par. Amy
  5. I am planning a ceremony here on May 2, 2011. I've not had the best of experience thus far. My situation is a little different, we are re affirming our vows(25th anniversary)..but we are doing the same package as anyone. My frustrations come from lack of communication with the hotels wedding planner. I went Mexico in July 2010 and my 19 year old daughter and I toured hotels. We chose the Now for the reasonable priced rooms for our guests. I've not gotten good communications with their coordinator... any suggestions? What do you know about the DJ's? The food offered on the menu's is not exactly what I prefer...do they customize it at all?
