  1. Hey ladies! I have been so MIA on here, I really need to get things moving! But the save the dates went out in January, and so far I have a few places in mind but I think I am going to go with the Catalonia Riviera Maya. The travel dates are November 2-6, although some of us will be staying longer. Reason for the short 4 days is a lot of my guests are all on a budget, so they really can't pay over $850 per person. The Catalonia pretty much fits into that price range for the 4 days, and I heard you get quite a bit with their $400 wedding package, so it just seems fitting. I just emailed them to see if they have the days available to have a wedding during that week *fingers crossed* I get so worried because brides book their date so far in advanced, and even though we are 7 months away, I feel way behind!!! Anyone else feel that way? Does anyone else know somewhat off the top of your head for a good medium-scale resort? An affordable/nice resort with a good price for the wedding package? Me and my fiance could afford a nicer resort ourselves, but I 'd rather have my guests and best friends be able to come..gosh its so hard!
  2. I am a bride in November 2011!!!! Unfortunately haven't picked a resort yet!!! My TA recommended me waiting til March because she feels there will be better deals and promotions then. So, I am waiting to see about prices for my guests in March. But I am still excited nonetheless!! I have a few in mind, so I guess we'll see!!
  3. Thank you so much everyone!!! Oh such wonderful words of encouragement!!! I know its been a while since I responded, with being a full-time student, finals, the holidays, Oy! But I got my 2011 game face on and I am tackling this wedding head on!! I decided to can that other TA, and got a new one, and the new one--she is just amazing! Very knowledgable about the RM area! And that made the difference! I have my top 4 narrowed down, a huge difference from my stressful days a month ago. But now I have the new stress of deciding on which exact one!! I'll probably do a post about that later on. But thanks again ladies, and happy planning!!
  4. Wow, thanks ladies so much. I better get a move on considering I hear that places book up a year in advance!! This is much more than my travel agent could ever tell me. I only met with her once, and she was somewhat pushy, like I was wasting her time, its like lady I have never done this before?? But thats a great idea--to put our most important things down on paper. I was actually thinking on whether I wanted to do mainland Cancun or down more in less crowded Playa del Carmen. That will be a good start. If I wanted to speak with someone, should I get a calling card to call down to Mexico, somehow emails never really worked for me, well I'll just hope they email me back. Thanks ladies and I will def PM y'all if I run into any problems!!
  5. Hi everyone, I am a bride for November 2011 and we have decided to get married in Cancun/Riviera Maya area. Thats about as far as I got, in terms of decision making. I have looked on countless of hotel and resort pages, and I just don't even know where to start. I can't get prices for November of next year, so I can't tell my guests any type of price. I know you get what you pay for, I want it to be affordable for everyone, but still really nice. I feel like I can't find a good medium. Either its really nice or its ghetto. The Cancun brides page doesn't help much because its more towards resorts that the brides already know there getting married at. I don't know, as a newbie, I feel like I can't get started, which makes me think I should just plan a wedding in my hometown...maybe I just need some tips of encouragement. Thanks everyone.
  6. Hello! I am new to this forum! I am so excited to have found this site, and I am looking forward to planning my destination wedding with the help of you ladies!! My name is Thips, but everyone calls me Thipsy. When we get married next year (we're thinking November 2011) we will have been together for TEN YEARS!! And because we want our friends and family to be present for the destination wedding, we are leaning towards Mexico as a place, because of its affordability. But we are also leaning towards Caribbean as well, but it might be too expensive for our guests. Anyway, I hope to gather more information and knowledge as time progresses, and get this destination wedding done as painlessly as possible!
