  1. I am looking at Roy's. I hear great things about the food! If anyone has held their reception or have dined there please share!
  2. Planning for 2011 May, June, or Sept depending on airfare and everyone's availability. I still have so time to plan I think!
  3. Thanks Dina! I think Waikiki will be more accessable for everyone. The Roys in KoOlina should have a great view I would imagine but it is 30-40 mins out which I would have to provide transportation for. I'm going to attempt to plan this myself since it's only gonna be 25-30 ppl. Catholic church and then a small nice dinner. Wish me luck!
  4. Thanks for the input I will check it out! Yes another Catholic bride! Have u decided where?
  5. Hello everyone! So it looks like it's a go for a destination wedding and we've narrowed it down to Oahu. We will be having a Catholic ceremony and a small restaurant reception at night. We are looking at about 25-35 people as of right now. We are definitely on a budget because we will be paying the airfare and stay for our grandparents and parents. I've been looking at Roy's for the reception because of the great food reviews its gotten. (I a major foodie!) Has anyone had their reception there or have ate there? I know there are two Roy's in Oahu so I'm not sure which one is better. I wanted a nice intimate dinner for our reception so if anyone has any other suggestions I would greatly appreciate it. Wedding planners? Did they help you tremendously? Was it worth the money? I wont be having a beach wedding so there's not a lot of set up except for the restaurant, but I'm hoping the restaurant will be able to help setup. Not sure if anyone has visited any Catholic churches in Oahu. I've seen a couple...St.Augustines and St. Andrews. Any catholic brides have any feedback?
  6. I thought Hawaii was going to be too much too but renting a beach house/villa looks like it's giving me some hope. If we split cost with famy n friends for the house it won't be too bad.
  7. Hello everyone! I'm having such a great time going through the forums learning and getting ideas from everyone's fabulous destination wedding. So THANK YOU!!! Okay...so I got engaged on New Years Day this year and will hopefully get married in May/June 2011. We've been struggling with family on whether we're having a destination wedding or not. It's been a back and forth and *fingers crossed* we will be able to move forward with a DW. We are considering either Hawaii (Oahu) or Cabo for our DW. There are pros and cons to each of those places. For example, I know Hawaii will be super expensive so I would really need to research and budget. We recently bought a new home so we are on a bit of a budget. We are thinking about only 20-30 people will be able to attend so maybe renting a vacation home or villa and having the reception dinner there. I figured that would save $$ and we can all share accomdations since it will only be family and bridal party. As for the ceremony my FI is Catholicso it will need to be in a Catholic Church. I've reserched and there are catholic churches in each place. If anyone has any tips, suggestions, or experience they like to share I would greatly appreicate it!! OH...another thing we will be paying for our grandparents, parents, and my younger brother (flight and stay) so that's why we will be on a TIGHT BUDGET! Is this doable?? We are pretty causal so no need for formalities.
